September 26 · Andrea JarquinI've been coming to kinship yoga for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it! The quality of the yoga teachings here is exceptional, the studio facilities are gorgeous, and the technology here is super cool. Hot yoga itself is under infrared lamps, on top of that, the studio offers a cold plunge and a steam room sauna. I come here most days of the week and this is almost a second home for me, a true sanctuary. Again, the teachers are amazing! Thank you so much.
April 15 · Jenia SimonovaI have such mixed feelings about Kinship! First of all, it's a gorgeous space: I love the whole aesthetic—the studios with the unfinished walls and ceilings especially. The little backyard area with the steam room is a real highlight. And they have a few solid teachers. But they also have some pretty awful teachers who seem to have little experience. Too many of their teachers love to fill the time with fiddly non-asana stuff that does nothing for the body.I've been reflecting a lot lately about how postural yoga kind of started in LA in 1948 and how thoroughly mediocre LA yoga is these days (especially compared to, say, 10–15 years ago). Kinship is part of that trend of offering okay classes with little attention to alignment, sequencing, or yogic wisdom. Like the rest of LA, it caters to the beginner student who wouldn't realize what's missing.Having said all that, it's the best studio on the east side so it's all we've got. I just hope they can raise the teacher standard a bit and start offering more advanced classes.
April 15 · Chad WoodfordI never thought I would be a hot yoga girlie, yet here I am, 10 years into my practice hotting things up.Kinship has such a beautiful community, if you're not local, it is worth the drive. If you want to feel held, and healed, I highly recommend. There is a community steam room and cold plunge around the back, communal showers, three studios, and other non heated classes (i am yet to attend) on offer if you're hot enough already. If you have a deep practice and are looking to expand, give it a go. And if you're a newbie you'll be helped along in flow in community.I love Alex, Sita, Bree, Aracely to name a few, there are so many good teachers. There is something special happening here if your open to receive it.
June 06 · Alicia Sadleri might be the odd person out but, i did not enjoy this studio at all. their classes are WAY overbooked. i’m 6’3” and i had about 6 inches of space between me and everyone else around me. how am i supposed to stretch my arms, etc? the person in front of me was also tall and i had his feet in my face the entire class. that many people in one room is too stimulating for a person like me. ALSO. i went on a class on the 4th of july and thought it was INSANELY insensitive for the instructor to yell out “yay america” and “you feeling patriotic yet”? when a bill was signed that same day hurting millions of actual americans and how america today is actually committing atrocities worldwide. just don’t bring that into yoga. nothing to celebrate tbh.
