YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE Introduce
In the heart of North Carolina, the journey to a more connected and authentic self often begins with finding a community that truly understands the "why" behind every movement. YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE, located in downtown Raleigh, is more than a typical yoga studio; it is a dedicated education and meditation center founded on the principles of authenticity and community. This veteran-owned and women-owned business was created by Raleigh locals Katie Clemons and Jolene Johnson, who sought to move beyond the limitations of traditional studios and create a space where yoga could live in one of its purest forms—a way to connect. Their vision, initially a mobile studio, has evolved into a permanent home base that serves as a sanctuary for those who want a deep understanding of yoga, both on and off the mat. The studio’s philosophy is to strip away the intimidating "extras" and focus on the core elements of the practice, including asana (yoga movement), pranayama (breath control), dhyana (meditation), and sangha (community). This intentional approach is evident in every class, from the thoughtful sequencing to the carefully curated playlists. It's a place where instructors bring their authentic voices to the mat, eager to share the ways in which yoga has changed their lives. One review from a teacher training student perfectly captures this sentiment, highlighting how the owners, Jolene and Katie, "challenge you to find your voice" and give you the tools to craft an intentional flow rather than just a memorized sequence. For anyone in the North Carolina region looking for a studio that is not just about memorized routines but about a life-changing, soul-deep understanding of yoga, YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE is a place where you belong.
The location and accessibility of YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE are key to its role as a central hub for the Raleigh yoga community. YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE offers a wide array of services that extend beyond a typical yoga class, cementing its identity as an education and meditation center. The studio provides multiple ways for clients to engage with their practice, catering to various preferences and goals.
Group Lessons: The studio offers a rich variety of group classes that cater to different styles and intentions. Their signature "Flow" class is a vinyasa-based, breath-driven experience where each teacher brings their own authentic passion to the practice. Other offerings include "Core + Flow" for those seeking a more physically challenging workout, "Yin to Meditate" for a deep dive inward, and specialized classes like "Kundalini," "Mantra," and "Sound Bath" that focus on energy, vibration, and stillness. A client who experienced a sound bath class described it as "absolutely amazing," praising the studio's "wonderful vibe, very relaxing and welcoming."
Private Lessons: For a more personalized experience, the studio offers private lessons. This allows for one-on-one attention from a qualified instructor who can tailor the practice to your specific needs, whether you are a beginner, recovering from an injury, or working toward a specific goal. This focused approach provides a level of detail and personalization that can significantly deepen your practice.
Events and Workshops: The studio regularly hosts special events and workshops. These are designed to help members explore specific aspects of yoga, meditation, and wellness in a more in-depth setting. Events often include sound baths, moon circles, and other community-focused gatherings that provide opportunities for deeper connection and learning. These events are a great way to expand your practice beyond the traditional class format.
Teacher Training: As a registered yoga school, YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE is a highly sought-after destination for 200-hour yoga teacher training. The program is praised for its comprehensive curriculum that goes beyond memorized sequences. As one review noted, the training teaches students "the 'why' behind every pose: anatomical wisdom + intuitive sequencing." This deep, intentional approach prepares students to find their unique voice and become confident, authentic teachers. The program is described as "life-awakening" and a "life-changing experience" by graduates who feel empowered to be exactly who they are, both on and off the mat.
The combination of these services—from diverse group classes and personalized private sessions to immersive workshops and a comprehensive teacher training program—makes YOGA SOUL•LEC•TIVE a true center for wellness and education in Raleigh.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Teacher Training!!!I chose Yoga Soul*lec*tive for my 200-hour training because I wanted more than just memorized sequences—and wow, did Jolene and Katie deliver. This isn’t a studio that hands you a script; they give you the tools to craft an intentional flow from the ground up.-No cookie-cutter sequences: They taught us a method for building classes—The "why" behind every pose: anatomical wisdom + intuitive sequencing = a game-changer. You’ll learn not just how to teach, but why certain poses belong together.Jolene and Katie will challenge you to find your voice. If you want to start (it’s a lot) a deep understanding of yoga, you belong here! ;)Forever grateful for their patience, passion, and the lightbulb moments they offered! They are magic, their playlists slap, and the community they’ve built is pure gold!
May 01 · Krystal BeelerI took a soundbath class with Emma and it was absolutely amazing! This studio has a wonderful vibe, very relaxing and welcoming. They have everything you need for a great yoga practice. I look forward to trying out other classes.
September 26 · Angelica ArocaBest strait up yoga place in Raleigh. Both the owners have a beautiful practice, plus they knocked it out of the park with decorating the space and attracting a great community of yogis. Oddly enough, I loved the old wood floors, reminds me of an old ballet studio (not like I'd know what that is like anyway).
August 27 · Guy FieriI’ve been a student at Yoga Soul for nearly 2.5 years!! The studio aura cultivated by Katie + Jolene has become my safe space to explore emotionally, spiritually and physically. This studio embodies what yoga can be outside the physical yogic practice. Community is celebrated and some of my closest friendships have blossomed because of Yoga Soul!!
June 16 · Kat SI was a student at YogaSoullective with an unlimited pass for almost 2 years. I really enjoyed the classes but reluctantly had to cancel my account due to work travel. When I went in to cancel my account in-person, I was informed by the staff member working at the time that my account had been successfully canceled, and that I would no longer be charged monthly.Months later, I discovered that yogasoullective had still been charging me. When I attempted to call the studio, I was unable to get ahold of anyone. After leaving several voicemails, I received a text message from someone I had never heard of from the studio, telling me that they would not refund me for those months. After many further attempts to contact the studio via phone, the only responses I ever received were via text from this person who I had never met, who simply refused to refund me in full. After being a loyal and student for such a long time, I was really shocked to be treated so poorly. It is disturbing to me that a studio with so many students and a very prominent location in downtown Raleigh would refuse to reimburse a student for mistaken charges on their end. The cold, impersonal and bureaucratic response that I received runs absolutely counter to the ethic of care, responsibility and community that the studio claims to hold center to its philosophy.Having had this experience (which is still yet unresolved), I will not be returning to this studio and will warn others to steer clear as well.
