The Outing Club Indoor Center Introduce
For residents of New London and the greater Kearsarge area in New Hampshire, finding a place that supports community, wellness, and youth development is a top priority. The Outing Club Indoor Center, a key facility operated by The Outing Club, is a cornerstone of this effort. This is not a traditional gym in the sense of a full-service fitness center with a wide range of weights and machines. Instead, it is a specialized indoor facility dedicated to providing sports and recreational programs, with a primary focus on youth athletics. It serves as a vital resource for the community, offering a dedicated space for indoor activities, particularly during the colder months.
The Outing Club, which manages the Indoor Center, is a non-profit organization with a long history of serving the local community. It is committed to providing sports, recreational, social, and educational programs to local families. The Indoor Center is a central part of this mission, offering a protected and well-maintained space for activities like basketball. Its purpose is to create a positive environment where young people can learn the fundamentals of sports, develop skills, and engage in healthy physical activity. While some community feedback highlights concerns about the competitive nature of certain programs, the facility's core mission remains centered on providing a space for recreation and community connection.
The Indoor Center is often a hub of activity, especially during the winter season when outdoor sports are not an option. It provides a warm, dry space for athletes to practice and compete, ensuring that the community's sports programs can continue year-round. The facility is a place where young athletes can come together, learn from coaches, and participate in organized sports. Its role is to support the broader athletic and recreational goals of The Outing Club and the local community it serves.
This center is a testament to the community's dedication to providing resources for youth. While it may not be the place for a traditional individual workout, its value lies in its specific purpose—to offer a dedicated and accessible venue for team sports and recreational programs that are essential to the healthy development of children and young adults in New Hampshire.
The Outing Club Indoor Center is located at 114 Cougar Ct, New London, NH 03257, USA. This location is designed to be easily accessible to the community it serves. The central location helps ensure that families from New London and neighboring towns in the Kearsarge area can access the facility without a long or difficult commute, which is crucial for managing the busy schedules of modern families.
The facility is committed to accessibility, which is reflected in its amenities. It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of mobility, can enter the building safely and with ease. The center’s use is often tied to athletic schedules and specific programs run by The Outing Club, which means it is a purposeful and well-utilized space rather than a drop-in center. This structured use ensures that the facility is always being put to good use for its intended purpose of supporting organized sports and recreation.
The Outing Club Indoor Center's services are focused on its primary function as a space for indoor sports. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I will never have my child be apart of the basketball OC, again. My son is 11 years old and was so excited to be part of this team, until the coaches continue to bench him for most of the games. And because he didn't attend the 2nd to the last finely game, do to a family emergency, he was benched for his finely game as well. Talk about ripping a child's self-esteem down, instead of building them up. It's not about team work, but more about winning.
February 19 · K LWe have paid big bucks multiple years in a row for our child to play basketball and learn the Dynamics of the game.. all he has learned is how to sit on the bench and lower his self-esteem.. it's all about winning, not learning..
February 15 · Dustin J BeaudryBasketball 🏀 hoops for shorter people / kids games. Easy to see the whole court and gym is very clean.
January 31 · Kate PutnamIronically, this is my old Middle school. I attended 6th, 7th, & 8th grade here nearly 40 years ago. In this gym, I played dodgeball, ran obstacle courses, and began my cheerleading adventure. I also practiced gymnastics here long before I attended school. It is now some sort of extension of the New London Outing Club. I assume they have after school programs, sports, etc, here these days -- which is not much different from the 1980s.On this most recent trip here, I participated in a regional Craft Fair, selling homemade gift items. It seems like a smaller gymnasium now -- now that I'm 50 years old? Was it always this size? Most likey. My biggest complaint, which is not the fault of the New London Outing Club (NLOC), was that we were not allowed in until the morning of the craft fair. Seeing as it is no longer a school, you would think that the organizers of the craft fair and the outing club could find a time and a day where the activities were limited or ended early enough on the day prior to the craft fair to allow the crafters/vendors inside to setup the night before. Again, not really the NLOC's fault. It's nice to know that this old gymnasium is not going to waste and is being used by the outing club for more activities for children. That is never a bad thing.
