★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Loved coming to this gym in addition the other gym I belong to for the SAUNA!!!! It was amazing! So enjoyable, relaxing, and hot! For years this was amazing. Due to safety reasons, management moved the on dial to the office and now the sauna is set up to where it has to be manually turned on by staff and it runs until it reaches 200/210 and then SHUTS OFF! The temp decreases rapidly to 130 degrees in minutes which is super disappointing. I know I speak for other members who are also super disappointed! Saturday when I came in it was 130 degrees, Sunday at 7:15 it was 110 and off. I had to walk back and forth between sets like 5 times to catch someone at the desk to ask for it to be turned on. Why couldn’t there be a dial in sauna or outside that just turned the sauna on for a set period of time like 60 minutes? That way someone like myself would know how long it’s been on for and if/when I’d need to turn it on so it would be hot when I was ready. Now like a psycho I have to go in when I get there and multiple times during workout and annoy the staff at the desk to turn it on again so it’s hot and stays hot when I’m ready. I know the ymca has that as well as the new gym rep society Norton have a dial that members can control to turn on/set timer dial. I used to come here excited for my after workout sauna or I’d just pop in after an outside run for a quick sauna which I can no longer do since sometimes it’s 130 degrees 👎👎I sure hope they can do better here to please and keep the many members who love this sauna!!!!
August 03 · Amanda GloverI was a member at The Gym for several years, and overall, my experience was more frustrating than positive. One of the main issues began when they introduced 24/7 access. They installed an outdoor scanner so all members could sign in without staff present. However, only those who paid an extra $15/month for the 24/7 membership could access the gym outside of regular hours. Regular members couldn’t scan in until 5 a.m., even though there was no staff on-site until 7 a.m. Because of this, they enforced a strict “no tailgating” policy — if you scanned in and someone followed behind you without scanning themselves during non-staffed hours, you could be fined $40. Even though there was a scanner to sign into at the front desk as well during those non-staffed hours, this was still heavily enforced. I knew of several members who were fined and ended up canceling over it. Ironically, there were frequent mornings when the scanner didn’t work at all, leaving people stuck outside waiting — sometimes as late as 5:30 a.m. for the scanner to work. The only way in was often by relying on another member’s kindness, which ironically violated the very rule they enforced so strictly.Equipment maintenance was another major letdown. In the cardio area, several treadmills were perpetually broken and never repaired. In the weight room, cable machines were rusty, and many of the cushioned benches or seats had large rips, making them uncomfortable to use. The sauna — frequently mentioned in other reviews on here — was also a disappointment. It never reached a proper therapeutic temperature. While members used to be able to adjust it to the standard 190°F, the gym removed that option, citing cost-cutting measures. The staff manages the temperature now and keeps it at a low temperature where the sauna is inefficient. At times, the steam from the showers felt more effective than the actual sauna. To top it off, canceling my membership was a headache. I canceled in person, filled out the required form, and was assured it was taken care of. Yet, months later, I noticed I was still being charged. Only after calling them out on it did I receive an apology and a partial refund of 2.5 months. If I hadn’t been checking my finances closely, I’m not sure they ever would’ve noticed or addressed it.Unless 24/7 access is your top priority and you’re willing to overlook broken equipment, unreliable access, and questionable management practices, I’d suggest exploring other local gyms. There are better-maintained options in the area that offer far more value — and fewer hassles.
July 10 · Zach FrazierI've been a member of the gym for a few years, and its been a frustrating experience, to say the least. The worst part is the sauna being practically useless. The temperature barley reaching 150 degrees now since the new so called "update". You don't even start sweating until you reach 30 minutes. I ask the staff to turn it up and no one seems to be able to help. Owner is probably trying to save money by keeping it a little warmer them room temperature. We haven't even had paper towels in the bathrooms for over 7 months now. This place is a prime example of an owner prioritizing profit over quality. Save your money and join a gym that actually cares about its members.
July 04 · Sam MendozaJuly 13th gym update. Managers put up a paper sign that says the electrician came by to fix it. *Spoiler alert* it’s still broken! To nobody’s surprise management still continues to neglect the basic amenities that bring people into this facility.Unfortunately the poor weekend staff don’t have the training to deal with such a simple issue caused by the owners trying to save a penny.More problems that peeve me are that the automatic sink is still broken and God forbid we restock the paper towels in the bathroom. These are basic necessities for hygiene and cleanliness. I have spoken to staff many times and these issue continue to not be resolved.
July 13 · Bobby M💕A great place! And the staff are wonderful, uplifting with their smiles, helpful, go out of their way and take time to answer questions...all-around super friendly people that make one WANT to keep coming to this gym! Plus...the people that come to workout here are so amazingly respectful and helpful in showing how to properly work the machines and equipment, giving tips for best workout results (😉 especially for "first-time" oldies like me! 😆)
