[solidcore] Santa Monica Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents across the greater Los Angeles area, particularly those in Santa Monica, finding a fitness center that genuinely delivers transformative results without compromising joint health can be a challenge. Santa Monica addresses this need directly by offering a highly unique and effective full-body workout. While classified as a fitness center and Pilates studio, 's method is distinct: 50 minutes of high-intensity, low-impact, resistance-based strength training. This is not a traditional Pilates class, but rather a dynamic, core-focused program performed on a custom-built, state-of-the-art resistance machine.
The philosophy at is centered on achieving muscular failure through slow, controlled movements, which specifically targets the slow-twitch muscle fibers crucial for endurance and long-term strength. This method is designed to break down muscles, allowing them to repair and grow stronger. This results in not just visible muscle definition but also improved overall performance and muscular endurance. The workout environment is typically characterized by dimmed blue lighting and upbeat music, creating a focused, high-energy atmosphere that encourages clients to push past their limits and achieve the 'shakes'—a clear sign that the muscles are working to their point of maximum effort.
Location and Accessibility
The Santa Monica studio is positioned perfectly to serve the active coastal communities of West Los Angeles. Situated on Main Street, it provides an easily accessible destination for fitness enthusiasts coming from Santa Monica, Venice, and beyond. The vibrant neighborhood location means clients are close to local amenities, including health-focused eateries, coffee shops, and, of course, the Pacific Ocean.
The full address is:
2000 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405, USA
Accessibility is a key feature of this location, making it welcoming for all local users. The facility offers a Wheelchair accessible entrance, a Wheelchair accessible parking lot, and a Wheelchair accessible restroom. For driving clients, convenient parking is available. The studio is located within the same building as the Avalon Santa Monica on Main apartments, and parking can be validated in the building's public parking garage, which has an entrance on Bicknell Ave, between Main Street and Neilson Way. For those preferring public transit, bus routes, including the Big Blue Bus Routes 1 and 8, stop nearby on Main Street/Ocean Park Boulevard.
Services Offered
Santa Monica focuses almost exclusively on its signature Megaformer-style workout classes, offered in various formats to accommodate all fitness levels, from absolute beginners to advanced fitness professionals.
- Signature50: Full Body Class: The core 50-minute high-intensity, low-impact workout that meticulously targets the core, obliques, lower body, and upper body by focusing on one muscle group at a time. This class is suitable for all levels, with coaches providing modifications and amplifications.
- Starter50: Intro To : A beginner-level class that serves as a thorough introduction to the custom-built machine and the fundamental movements. This session includes detailed machine and exercise demonstrations, programmed rest periods, and a focus on mastering form.
- Foundation50: Build Your Basics: A follow-up class for clients who have completed the Starter50 sessions, designed to strengthen fundamentals and ease the transition to the Signature50 class while continuing to emphasize proper form and a full-body sweat.
- Focus Classes: Specialized 30-minute or 50-minute classes that intensely target specific muscle groups, such as Power30: Core + Lower Body or Focus50: Core + Obliques + Upper Body, catering to those seeking advanced muscle conditioning in particular areas.
- Personal Training & Physical Fitness Program Guidance: While the core offering is group classes, the method itself functions as a highly structured physical fitness program. The low class maximums and highly involved coaching allow for a personalized experience, with coaches offering verbal cues and physical adjustments to ensure maximum effectiveness for individual goals.
Features / Highlights
The distinct features of Santa Monica set it apart in the crowded California fitness landscape, providing a specialized workout experience:
- The 'Sweatlana' Resistance Machine: The studio utilizes its proprietary, custom-built resistance reformer, affectionately nicknamed 'Sweatlana.' This apparatus is central to the workout, providing the heavy resistance and adaptable settings necessary for the slow, controlled movements that break down muscle fibers to failure.
- High-Intensity, Low-Impact Method: This is a major highlight, especially for those in California concerned about joint health. The workout is intensely challenging—creating a deep muscle burn and 'the shakes'—but is performed without jumping or high-impact strain, making it accessible for post-injury fitness or all ages.
- State-of-the-Art Cleanliness and Amenities: The studio is noted by customers for its high level of cleanliness. It features a restroom and offers added amenities such as a fridge stocked with refreshments, which can be conveniently added to a client's account.
- Focused, Darkened Environment: The signature blue lights and darkened room are deliberately used to minimize external distractions. This design choice fosters maximum concentration, requiring clients to maintain a stronger mind-body connection crucial for the precision required by the workout.
- Community and Coaching: Appointments are recommended, emphasizing the structured, coached environment. While the overall coaching style is high-energy, the effectiveness is proven when instructors provide clear articulation and hands-on form correction, transforming the group session into a nearly personal training experience.

What is Worth Choosing
Santa Monica is worth choosing for the California client seeking measurable, strength-based results from a time-efficient, low-impact modality. The biggest draw is the unique, patented workout on the 'Sweatlana' machine, which guarantees a challenging 50-minute session designed to push muscles to the point of failure for true transformation. Unlike traditional gym routines that rely on momentum or high-rep training, uses controlled resistance to build muscular endurance, leading to a stronger core, better posture, and a more resilient body.
Moreover, its commitment to accessibility—with wheelchair-friendly facilities and validated parking in a prime coastal location—makes it a practical choice for many local users. While the high-speed and high-volume coaching style is part of the brand’s high-intensity identity, the value lies in finding a highly skilled coach who provides articulate instructions and form corrections. For the dedicated user, investing in the classes here is investing in a powerful, sustainable, and proven fitness program.

August 11 · Raphaela OrtenbergI really wanted to like the studio and truly believe it can be a great and effective workout. However, after attending multiple classes and trying different instructors, I can say that only Coach Anthony has made the experience enjoyable. The music is usually too loud, making it very difficult to hear the instructions. It seems the brand encourages coaches to talk nonstop, and they tend to speak very quickly, which is hard to follow. With the demanding movements, this can be a little dangerous, as I’ve noticed instructors not paying attention to us—standing with their backs to the class and reciting instructions without monitoring our form. The microphone audio is not great either, sometimes making it sound more like mumbling.Additionally, there’s no sock policy, and the platform is not properly cleaned, as shown in the picture. I would also suggest that instructors provide more demonstrations during class, as there are currently almost none.I would really appreciate it if the instructors could slow down and pay more attention to the class instead of just memorizing their lines.Again, I enjoyed Coach Anthony’s classes; he articulates the instructions well and corrects people’s form. I felt taken care of when attending his classes.
November 01 · Xiaoyu JiangA friend of mine told me about Solidcore after I mentioned it to her, I noticed they were on ClassPass. She said she saw a change in her body and that the workouts at Solidcore made her much stronger. On ClassPass, one session here cost me 14 credits (!), so I'm guessing they are highly recommended and requested by the fitness community.I scheduled a session for Sunday at 8 a.m. with Anthony. This wasn’t the beginner class, but still, I could do most of the movements with Anthony helping me adjust the Pilates reformer machine. He mentioned that they offer a beginner class where the instructor cues the breaks, the lights are on, and they take it slow.Even if you are in good shape, you will find Solidcore workouts to be challenging. I can definitely see how it could make your muscles stronger, toned, and defined.Overall, it was a great experience, Anthony was motivating and very helpful. He is new to the studio, so give him a try!Studio:Cubbies ✔️Filtered water ✔️Water bottles/ drinks for sale ✔️Bathrooms ✔️No showers ❌Street parking (by the meters).
September 24 · Yamit FlorentinI wish I could give them less than a 1 star review. My wife and I have been going here for well over a year and as of late they have been terribly unaccommodating with their classes and they dont seem to value customers that have spent a lot of time and money at their studios taking classes. Its unfortunate, because its so easy to be nice a bit accommodating. My advise, find another place to do your pilates.
June 12 · James N DonahueI love this studio. The workout never gets easy, even after 50 classes. If you are new to reformer Pilates— highly recommend taking a beginner class as the normal class moves extremely fast and there are no cued breaks. The music is loud, but if you wear earplugs (provided), it should be fine and I’ve never had issues hearing the instructors. Coach Anthony pays the most attention to detail. Coach Kristina is my absolute favorite bc she’s so tough and kind at the same time — her music is unbeatable. I have always found the studio clean. Unfortunately there are no showers and you will get sweaty. Truthfully, this is the only Pilates studio I have found on the west side that I know will deliver a consistent great workout and it is always 50 min on the dot! Aesthetically I have seen results and it has really helped with other aspects of my fitness regimen to engage my core more.
