SLT W 89 Introduce
Welcome to SLT W 89, a premier fitness center located right in the heart of New York's Upper West Side. SLT, which stands for Strengthen, Lengthen, and Tone, offers a unique and highly effective workout that has gained a dedicated following across the city. This studio provides a full-body, high-intensity, and low-impact workout that is suitable for a wide range of fitness levels. By combining elements of cardio, strength training, and classic Pilates, SLT offers a comprehensive and efficient way to achieve your fitness goals.
The core of the SLT workout is the Megaformer, a specialized machine that uses a system of springs and pulleys to provide adjustable resistance. This equipment allows for slow, controlled movements that activate slow-twitch muscle fibers, leading to a deep burn and long-lasting results. The low-impact nature of the workout makes it safe on the joints, reducing the risk of injury while still providing a challenging session. Instructors are meticulously trained to guide you through each 50-minute class, ensuring proper form and technique so you can get the most out of every exercise.
SLT W 89 is known for its knowledgeable and fantastic instructors who are passionate about helping clients reach their full potential. They are experts at creating a workout that fatigues your muscles without abusing your body, providing a safe and responsible fitness experience. The energy and variety they bring to each class keep the workouts fresh and engaging, encouraging clients to push their limits. Many clients express that this studio is home to some of the best instructors they've encountered, praising their ability to motivate and connect with everyone in the room.
The community at SLT is a significant part of the experience. Many long-time clients consider themselves "SLT lifers," a testament to the effectiveness of the workout and the supportive environment. It’s a place where you can expect to be challenged, but also feel a sense of camaraderie with your fellow classmates. This encouraging atmosphere is what keeps clients coming back, turning a workout session into a fulfilling and regular part of their lifestyle. The studio is a valuable asset to the Upper West Side neighborhood, providing a top-tier fitness option for local residents.
While the studio has a lot of potential, as with any new business, there might be some small "kinks" to work out. Some clients have noted issues with the machine layout, which can occasionally obstruct the view of the mirror. This is a detail that the management can hopefully address, as the ability to see your form is crucial for safety and effectiveness. Another minor point mentioned by clients is the occasional lack of towels. Despite these small issues, the overall sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive, with clients rooting for the studio's success because of the quality of the workout and the caliber of the instructors.
The entire SLT experience, from the moment you consider signing up to the completion of a class, is designed to be seamless. The website is informative and the booking process is generally smooth. However, a little more transparency regarding special offers or limited-time deals on the website could further improve the client experience. The studio’s commitment to providing a top-tier workout experience is clear, and the overall quality of instruction and the effectiveness of the Megaformer workout are consistently highlighted as major reasons for its popularity. For those in search of a serious and results-driven workout in a supportive community, SLT W 89 is a standout choice on the Upper West Side.

SLT W 89 Reviews
I absolutely love SLT and have been a client (and formally an instructor) for nearly 2 decades. I was thrilled when they re opened on the upper UWS. Some of my favorite instructors there are Bridget, Brad, Laney, Sean and Shea but there are many others who are fantastic! If you’re new, Sammy has been teaching there the longest and is phenomenal with new clients, and Meg and Ryan are also great when they teach here, (but it’s rare).I do have one big issue with this studio though — the machines are in 2 rows that are *not staggered*. This means that no matter where you are in class, you will not be able to see yourself in the mirror 50% of the time due to the person immediately in front of you blocking your view. This is such an easy fix and was so foolish of SLT to set up their studio this way. I have complained and heard others complain and SLT seems not to take these complaints seriously, but it actually does affect the client experience in class! The mirror is there to give us feedback on our form so we can make adjustments and keep our bodies safe and efficient. Also, they run out of towels often and that’s just poor planning. I’m hoping they fix these small things in a timely manner because the studio has worlds of potential! As always, you can expect a fantastic workout with a knowledgeable instructor who will guide you through the class. The modality is safe on the body because it is non-impact and SLT takes great pride in training their instructors to follow responsible workout plans that fatigue but don’t abuse your body.SLT is a major asset for us to have on the Upper UWS so I hope they work out these kinks and can be the best studio possible in that space. I’m a SLT lifer and am absolutely rooting for them!!
August 25 · Lauren MichaeliThe vibe here is really weird. So I had wanted to sign up for the founding members sessions and you’d get a good deal for 4 classes per month for like $138 . I sent In a request for info online twice, then never got an email. So then I decided to try and sign up in person. I walked to the studio and first off it’s not an open and welcoming studio. Like you have to ring a door bell and the receptionist though the door looks up and presses a button to unlock the door. It’s like extra security? But your on the UWS, one of NYC’s richest and most posh neighborhoods with kids and families where barely anything and happens. It seemed silly to me to have to wait until someone lets you in.Then I was talking to the receptionist and she was like “oh the online founding member classes are limited to only a certain number of people. They’re sold out, but you can buy regular classes for the regular price.” I kinda wish they would take that off their website then. Or like say those were sold out online. The whole vibe here is strange… I’m usually a solid core girl and wanted to try something new but this doesn’t seem to be for me.
