Services Offered
Sandpiper Pilates specializes in apparatus-based Pilates, with a strong focus on individualized instruction and small class sizes to maximize effectiveness, safety, and personal growth.
- Private Pilates Sessions: Dedicated one-on-one training sessions that are fully customized to the client’s specific goals, whether for rehabilitation, advanced athletic performance, or general conditioning. The instructor fine-tunes every exercise for the unique needs of the individual.
- Semi-Private Classes: Small group classes, often limited to just five people, utilizing the Pilates reformer apparatus. This provides the community dynamic of a group class while retaining a high level of personal attention and correction from the instructor.
- Injury Rehabilitation Work: Expert guidance for individuals with existing injuries, including spinal issues, shoulder girdle problems, or hip concerns. The instructor’s background in physical therapy support allows for safe progression from rehab into a regular, tailored exercise routine.
- Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates: Specialized training designed to safely support clients through pregnancy and aid in effective, core-focused recovery post-childbirth.
- Advanced Athletic Conditioning: Programs tailored to help advanced individuals and athletes achieve an extra edge in their performance by focusing on deep core stability, balance, and muscle elongation.
- Introductory One-on-One Sessions: A highly recommended starting point for newcomers to Pilates to learn the foundational movements and correct reformer technique in a safe, unhurried setting before moving into group formats.
- Convenient Planning: Appointments are recommended for all sessions to ensure dedicated time with the instructor and proper scheduling for the small group format.
- Flexible Payment Options: Major credit cards and debit cards are accepted for class and package purchases, simplifying the payment process.
Features / Highlights
What truly distinguishes Sandpiper Pilates in the competitive Santa Monica fitness scene are its unique features focused on expertise, personal touch, and results.
- Expert, Specialized Instruction: The lead instructor's dual background as a dancer and rehabilitation specialist is a significant highlight. This ensures not only mastery of advanced Pilates techniques but also the clinical knowledge to work safely and effectively with clients of all ages and conditions, including those transitioning from physical therapy.
- Emphasis on Small Class Size: With small group reformer classes limited to an intimate number of participants (often just five), the studio ensures that every client receives significant one-on-one attention and correction—a level of detail often missing in larger group settings.
- Truly Personalized Programming: The commitment to customizing workouts is a core strength. Instead of a one-size-fits-all routine, the focus is on assessing and addressing individual imbalances to create balanced strength and prevent injuries.
- Warm and Down-to-Earth Atmosphere: The studio is consistently described as a comfortable and personal setting, offering a uniquely warm and supportive vibe that contrasts with the sometimes intimidating environment of larger health clubs in Los Angeles.
- Holistic Approach: The training goes beyond simple exercise, incorporating principles of balance, stability, length, and core knowledge to provide clients with an empowered understanding of how to correctly utilize their own bodies for lasting strength.

What is worth choosing
For residents of California, particularly those on the Westside of Los Angeles, Sandpiper Pilates in Santa Monica is definitively worth choosing because it is an **investment in personalized, expert-driven movement education rather than simply a workout routine**. When you choose Sandpiper Pilates, you are choosing to work with an instructor whose extensive background—from the demanding discipline of dance to the detailed work of rehabilitation—means you are in the safest, most knowledgeable hands available. Sandpiper Pilates Reviews
I took a private lesson with Tracy while in town on vacation. I'm grateful she fit me in (knowing I wouldn't be a repeat client), and the session was excellent. She quickly figured out how to challenge me, provided great corrections, and was constantly encouraging. I left feeling great, and if I lived in town I'd be a regular!
July 04 · Loran YehudaiTracy and Sand piper pilates should be your go to place for pilates. I have been working with Tracy both in private pilates sessions and/or in group reformer classes, depending on my schedule. She offers small group reformer classes (only 5 people) that provide a lot of attention. She is amazing and really knows what she is doing. She was a dancer and also has a rehab background so works with advanced individuals as well as those with injuries. I am a physical therapist and refer patients to her when they are ready to start a regular exercise routine. To anyone who hasn't done pilates, try a few one on one sessions to start to get the hang of it. Tracy is extremely knowledgeable and addresses areas of the body to help create balance safely. She knows how to push you in the right amount. I can't recommend her and her studio enough!
October 10 · Erin CarrI've been coming to Sandpiper pilates since 2013! I love this place! It's where you go when you want body transformation! I started Stott Pilates in Stockholm, Sweden in 2012, and was so happy to find this Stott Pilates gym when I moved back to LA. Initially, I lived in Malibu but it was still worth the drive. Now I live in Santa Monica so it's just around the corner. I recently started training with Dora, after a years hiatus from pilates due to recovering from the Woolsey Wild Fire and I am amazed how fast I'm back on track and how only after 4 sessions I feel so STRONG! My core in particular. Stott Pilates is amazing and absolutely superior to any other kind of pilates or work out in my opinion. It never gets boring and it's extremely difficult to hurt yourself, unlike other forms of training. A few years ago when I was a regular here (taking classes 3/wk) I had the best body I've ever had in my life and at the age of 50 and giving birth to 3 children...That's worth a lot for someone who is prone to getting hurt and dislikes working out! Dora is an amazing trainer with a perfectly balanced personality for a trainer. She knows exactly how to get me to where I need to be and get results while also considering my damaged shoulders. I did not expect to feel this good and this strong so soon. I cannot recommend Dora, Tracy and Sandpiper Pilates enough!
