It's a place where you can find everything you need for a full-body workout, from strength training and personal coaching to a wide array of group classes and a swimming pool.
The philosophy of Merritt Clubs is centered on providing a luxury, value-driven experience. The membership model is flexible, though it is required for access. The club's focus on providing a broad range of options ensures that everyone can find a workout they enjoy, whether it's cycling, aerobics, or a serene swim. This versatility is a key reason many members choose Merritt Clubs, looking forward to using the facility regularly to stay active and healthy.
The atmosphere is a mix of friendly staff and dedicated members, creating a positive environment. One review praised the location's atmosphere and staff, noting the availability of swimming lessons and a wide variety of classes that are included with membership. This highlights the club's commitment to offering a holistic fitness experience that goes beyond the basic gym floor. However, some feedback from members has pointed out that while the facilities are clean, they can feel dated and from an older era. Other reviews have mentioned minor issues with locker room etiquette and the occasional unhelpful staff member, but these appear to be exceptions rather than the norm. Overall, Merritt Clubs Downtown Athletic Club provides a robust and multifaceted fitness solution for those in the heart of Baltimore.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I will say right away that I went to this gym both with my employer paying for the access and also a reduced rate because of being in town only for a short while:That said, even still I found it overly expensive. $100/month for something another cheaper gym couldn’t provide? The facilities were clean but dated and everything felt old and from the 90s.Staff was a mix. Some very friendly - some couldn’t be bothered with even being asked for kills jump rope.Men’s locker room always an issue with sauna. People going in endlessly on their phones, fully clothed, street shoes - all pretty disgusting.
July 04 · Jakob W. PlummerLove this location for its atmosphere and staff. Look forward to utilizing the facility regularly during my Fall Semester. Note: they offer swimming lessons for those interested at reasonable fee. And the instructors are very thorough in teaching and reinforcing the fundamentals. Definitely a location plenty of equipment, space, and classes (ie. Cycling, aerobics etc.) You name it, they likely have it. And with your membership, classes are free; members sign up via app or in-person the day of classes.
August 10 · Rafiu AkanniGreat gym! Massive, tons of free weights, racks, and machines, even has an athletic pool and small track! Gets crowded on summer mornings and evenings after work, but otherwise there’s plenty of open stations. Small track is great for sprinting and walking short distances. Gym has an odd layout, but that’s what you happens when you retrofit a train station. All in all a fantastic gym.
June 22 · Vivian LiAVOID THIS GYM. Left my swim suit in the locker room and the staff threw it away, according to the front desk. Spend two minutes with the front desk and you’ll understand why. Very disappointed and I can’t wait to cancel this membership.
August 25 · Ernesto ChanonaThe staff at Merritt Gym in downtown Baltimore are great—friendly, helpful, and always professional. They really make the experience better. That said, the facility itself could use some updates. Some of the equipment feels a bit dated, and certain areas could benefit from a refresh. Overall, it’s a solid gym with an excellent team, but the space could use some modernizing.
