★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been going to LA Fitness on Bundy on and off for years. It’s definitely not my favorite gym, but the price is so low that I end up getting the membership again. In the past, the gym was very dirty and poorly maintained. Now, I can see some improvements — it’s still not the cleanest, but better than before. I’ve noticed they’ve repaired some machines and seats that were torn, and there’s usually someone cleaning, which is nice. Still, the overall cleanliness isn’t great. For example, I left my towel on the floor next to a machine while working out, and when I picked it up it was full of dust.On the positive side, it’s fully equipped, the staff is nice, and parking is convenient — either on the street or in the paid lot ($1 cash or $1.50 with card).Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap gym with plenty of equipment, this location does the job. Just don’t expect high quality or spotless conditions.
August 24 · Mariana MoraesCons: Management: Cold dip has been closed since I joined, many months ago. Pool (which is why I joined), has been drained for two months and counting. No fix date yet. About half of the rowing machines, from my count, have been broken since joining.Cons: Members: talking loudly and exercising in the Saunas.Pros: everything else is pretty great. Front Staff are friendly enough. Conclusion: Fix your assets & equipment in a timely manner.
August 06 · JonPaul TillemanI've been going to LA Fitness (West LA / Bundy) for the past couple of months, and I have nothing but great things to say about my experience. Everything is so convenient at this location — the large open parking lot makes coming and going super easy, and the variety of group classes offered every day is fantastic. There are multiple class options at different times, and I’ve enjoyed every instructor so far!The staff is always friendly and helpful, and I also appreciate that the gym has a diverse mix of members — from younger people to older adults — which creates a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.I especially want to highlight my personal trainer, Jessica K. She is truly the best! Sweet and supportive, but also a strong and motivating coach. I love Jessica's style of training — she makes every session not only effective but also fun. She takes the time to listen to my goals and concerns, and thoughtfully includes them in our workouts. Each session leaves me feeling more confident and inspired. I’m learning new exercises, how they impact my body, and how to safely use different machines. I'm starting to feel less intimidated at the gym and more empowered. I even catch myself looking forward to our next session right after finishing one — and I’m already seeing progress, which is so motivating! If you’re looking for a personal trainer who is both kind and knowledgeable, I highly recommend Jessica K. Training with her has been a game-changer.Overall, going to this gym has been a great decision for me!
August 05 · O. G.I moved to Santa Monica from NC, where I had been a member of a Planet Fitness workout center. My workout needs are simple (plenty of weight and cardio machines), and I was fortunate to find this L.A. Fitness facility within reasonable driving distance. (I was surprised to find so few workout places like this in this area; most are wellness centers with a few racks of free weights and several workout mats, with personal trainers being standard.) This L.A. Fitness is a good facility but had some radical differences from what I’d been used to, and I wanted to give a few notes for similar people coming from Planet Fitness. The first thing you’ll notice is that they have an exclusive parking lot, which is very convenient. But be aware, it’s a pay lot. If you normally work out five days a week, be sure to add at least an extra $20/month when considering the fitness membership monthly fee. It’s an older facility in a building that’s smaller than most places I’ve seen which provide this many workout options. This leads to a number of, primarily health, concerns. All the machines, cardio and weight, are by necessity pretty close together. If you have concerns about distancing, be aware of this. A related concern, while I saw several large ceiling vents, I’ve never heard any kind of climate control running and have never felt any air movement. While it may or may not be a health concern, it’s also noticeably warmer here than at previous workout centers I’ve been to. If you prefer cooling during your workout, be aware. As I said, the facility and machines are old, which I don’t normally consider a problem, though some might. I haven’t yet seen any machines that were out of order, though many are worn and in disrepair. The elliptical machines have chargers for first generation iPods. Many of the machine pads are worn or loose. The floor of the weight room (on the third floor) shakes noticeably whenever anyone sets their weights down hard. (I don’t believe it’s a concern, and I’m sure it’s not something they can fix.)Related to overall health and cleanliness, it doesn’t seem to be something either the staff nor members are concerned about. There are no rules about wiping down the machines after use, and there are no products in place to do so. No one wears masks (except for one lone janitor I saw). It’s simply not an issue here. Whether that is a concern or not is up to the individual. The men’s locker room has several sinks but only two old blowing hand dryers. There are no paper towels, though that might be a result of recycling/conservation practices in California.Unrelated to the facility itself, L.A. Fitness has a pretty hard-sell business practice, similar in feel to car salesmen. After being shown around for the first time, I was literally asked, "is there anything stopping you from signing up today?" They also offer a number of features, such as trainers and dietary planning, which are initially free but then come at an additional fee. When I signed up, I was clear that I didn’t need those options, but was still called later that day by someone who told me they were aware I’d refused them, but tried to sell them to me again. I understand that this is their business model, so I can’t really complain. In conclusion, coming to L.A. Fitness from Planet Fitness was a pretty big change. As I said, I’m glad to have found a facility like this, which has the things I need for daily workout, within easy driving distance from my house. But if I had another option, I don’t think I would be a member here.
March 27 · Doug TabbLet me start by saying the gym itself isn’t bad it’s more so the people that go there that are a problem. I was there for about 4 months and here are some of the things I saw in that time that I found pretty disgusting. Two instances in the sauna (separate occasions) one guy was just sitting on the bench completely naked and would get and move spots so he didn’t have to sit in his sweat and the other time another guy completely naked in the sauna but at least he standing but when I got out of the sauna he was using the hand dryer to dry his groin area off. Next two examples are from the toilet. One time had to use the bathroom and was waiting for a stall. One finally opened up until I walked in and the guy left like 20-30 of the toilet seat covers on the back of the toilet with poop on them. Second time somebody just took a poop too large and it wouldn’t flush away. Also you can expect to see hair regularly in the sink as people regularly shave and ive seen a few people give themselves haircuts too. Gym itself is not bad they have tons of equipment, pretty affordable for the LA area, and friendly staff. Only problems with the gym itself I have is paying a dollar for parking at the gym is a slight inconvenience and they run out of wipes fairly quickly
