★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This location is interesting. You can tell is older but it's also bigger than downtown and feels new in alot of ways. Here you have all the things you typically have at LA but also indoor dining track and some squash ball courts as well. It's a bit hard to find as it's tucked in the mall on the 7th floor. Beautiful views of the city though. And the machines can be taken up as is a busy location but still good.
January 07 · LeonardUpdate 4/30/2025: (upgrading to 4 stars)The hot water is FINALLY working again after they replaced the water heater. The gym could still benefit from some updates (equipment: adequate sets of lighter dumbbells and box jumps - Space: general refresh such as paint, modernizing the locker rooms) which I'm hoping will get done at some point.******Update 4/22/2025 and downgrade from 2 to 1 star rating:I'm glad that the pool is finally open again after more than a year, however, the hot water has been unavailable for over a week now.The irony is that per sign, you are required to "take a hot, soapy shower before entering the pool area". Well, I'd really like to shower with warm water, before AND after my swim. Whoever is "managing" this location needs to get fired.Hot water being out for a few hours or even a day might be acceptable, but for over a week, ABSOLUTELY NOT!*******I joined this gym in January for the main purpose of having a regular size lap pool (25 meters or yards) in walking distance for my triathlon training. The club manager told me mid of December that the pool would be back open by late of January. Apparently, they lost their permit. Now we are approaching mid of February and they pushed the opening out to late Feb/early March. I understand this has to do with city permits, but I'd think that with enough persistence this could have been handled a lot faster. In the meantime, I'm forced to drive to other locations. Also, it seems like there are just not enough "lighter" dumbbells. There are supposed to be 3 sets each of the 20lbs and 25lbs on the rack, but I've never seen more than 1 pair each, even during off hours. Can you guys please add additional pairs? Otherwise, people are forced to wait for a long time to do their exercises. The large space of this gym really has a lot of potential for improvements with proper management.
April 30 · Nadine SeferianMaybe I’m missing the machines or they really do have a poor amount of them. One lat pulldown? One smith machine? No cable row? I’m only using this gym temporarily but it pales in comparison to the other LA fitness near my home. I feel like i have to change my whole routine due to their poor selection of equipment.
August 20 · Alex Lauriano6/23 UPDATE: Pool and hot tub are closed again :/ was nice for 2.5 months while it lasted.EDIT: The pool / hot tub finally reopened after over a year of it being mysteriously closed. Both elevators have been working as well. Whoever the last manager was during that year must've been fired, because I'm already noticing some repairs and small improvements. We'll see how long this lasts.Do not be fooled by the five star reviews. At best, they seem suspicious. I am not a paid bot. I have been a member at this gym for years, and to see it take such a nosedive this past year is shocking. It is clear with their purchase of XSport that they do have the money to fix things, they just choose not to.There is no pool. Well, there is, except it's been closed since March of 2024 (so over a year now) due to “maintenance”. I can never get an answer on when it'll reopen, except that it might be open "next week" or "next month". The newest excuse is they're trying to get permits for the pool. So in other words, it means they failed health codes severely enough for it to be shut down for months.Funnily enough, I contacted IDPH and they said the gym never reached out to them to submit their permits. I’d have more respect for the gym if they were just upfront about cutting maintenance costs as opposed to lying continuously to its members.
June 27 · JonathanThis L.A fitness is by far the WORSE gym. Inside gym its like a VERY low grade park district from the 1918. Super old & gross lots of mold spots & Pool & Jacuzzi don't work & not open. Any park district gym from any city or any area would be a upgrade from this spot. Toilets & bathrooms are like what your grandparents would have had in elementary school. ON TOP OF THIS YOU WILL PAY $8.00- $40.00 TO PARK! There is NO free street parking. Stay away from: L.A Fitness @ 2828 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657
