July 26 · C MileyI did a muay thai free trial here and i just wanted to say the gym is not beginner friendly. First off their is no rules or etiquette that is being enforced by the coaches for what kind of gear your supposed to bring to prevent injuries, i had to drill with somebody who had 14 oz gloves(the sparring standard is 16oz and up) and was also wearing competition shin guards. Secondly there’s no weight class organization for who you pick for ur drilling partner, while this wouldn’t normally be a problem if y’all were drilling at a light intensity its a problem in this case because not only do the coaches not do anything when your partner is going to hard, they encourage it and punish you if you don’t do the same. They also do not sanitize their gear to people who rent it out which is disgusting. The only good thing about this gym i can say is if you are looking for a team to whip you into fighting shape they can do that EFFECTIVELY, this gym has a very hard nosed style when it comes to training the fighters which is good when your training for a fight. i just don’t like how instead of going through basic techniques through pad or bag work they make a bunch of beginners who either have no concept of power control or just have an overly inflated ego and treat every spar or drill session as a real match drill against each other without even having the proper gear.
June 21 · Bobo SoukI attended independent MMA in McDonough for a little over a year. Since I’ve moved away, I’ve been to other BJJ gyms but still miss training at Independent. Professor Chad is an outstanding instructor and a great guy. I definitely plan on dropping in to Independent whenever I’m back in town and will miss the training I received and friends I made here.
May 23 · Brandon PriceI used to take grappling classes here. A kid ripped my elbow. It still hurts years later. Afterwards, I was unable to work my construction job. I was unable to attend classes. I called the trainer and asked for my membership refunded. The trainer Chris just interupted, overtalked and dismissed my needs. They really just want your dollars.
June 20 · Zack ScottCan't wait to come In and start my journey to become a fighter Rachael the manager was awesome helping me on the phone promote her if you can! See you guys in the next couple weeks to start! And to think it's 5 stars and I haven't even got to experience how awesome it is yet!
