★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I want to like this gym, but a few issues knock down its rating for me.First off, I’ve been going here for over a year and the soap dispensers have been broken that entire time. The one upstairs never works, and there are always one or two broken in the men’s bathroom downstairs. Even Planet Fitness manages to keep the soap dispensers working! The machines are well-kept and the equipment is generally clean, but for $80+ a month I’m not sure what the value is. There are basically no amenities. The water from the dispensers is lukewarm, there are no towels, and sometimes even the paper towel dispensers don’t work. For comparison, when I paid the same price at the flagship Crunch in New York City or at New York Sports Club, I got a much higher-quality gym experience. So why is it so expensive here for so little in return? Finally, one of the most annoying habits is that members will walk around on their phones, talking at full volume—even though there are signs posted everywhere saying it’s against the rules. Staff never enforce it, am I supposed to get into an argument with a muscle man about this? All of these things might sound small on their own, but together they really make you question why you’re paying so much to come here.
August 20 · Raymond MichaelPreviously left a review after first joining! I can't believe it's almost been a year. I am unfortunately moving out of Pittsburgh, but I cannot thank Luc, Amaka and the staff enough. It's a really great gym for the price point. It's clean and not overly crowded. The front desk staff greets everyone with a smile and kindness which creates a welcoming environment. I had the pleasure of training with Amaka for a few sessions. She was such an amazing Personal Trainer! Truly cannot wait to revisit Pittsburgh in December and stop by again!
July 31 · Bexley MaiselGood Facilities, But Poor ManagementThis gym has good facilities, and the receptionists are nice but the gym manager Katie Jacob makes the experience frustrating. She is inflexible and unwilling to work with members, even in reasonable situations. Her attitude has been cold, unhelpful, and frankly unprofessional on a couple of occasions for me.1. I was a loyal member for over three years. I requested to freeze my membership for a month due to travel. The receptionist had me fill out the necessary form and assured me that everything was set. However, the next day, I received an email from Katie stating that my request was denied because I had informed them "too late." This was frustrating since their own staff had guided me through the process.I decided to cancel my membership, and sent an official mail for the same. I had no outstanding payments but my account was inexplicably sent to debt collection (amounting to a total of 3 months of gym membership), damaging my credit score significantly—something that could have easily been avoided with better communication and professionalism.2. A similar issue happened in my first year when the gym suddenly ended its partnership with LifeCare, which I had been using for a discount. I wasn’t informed in advance, and then one day when I walked in, Katie told me I had to re-enroll and pay a $75 registration fee. When I asked if I could work out that day and sort out the paperwork later, she flat-out refused and made me leave, showing zero flexibility or regard for customer experience. I found that very disrespectful. While the gym itself is well-equipped, the manager Katie Jacob is rigid and has a dismissive, indifferent attitude toward members, and apparently has no issue sending false claims to debt collection, harming a long-term member’s credit score. Customer service is clearly not a priority under her management.I’m sure she will find an excuse to justify this unprofessional treatment, but if customer service and fair treatment matter to you, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.(PS: While writing this review, I came across a few more reviews echoing similar concerns about the poor management under Katie Jacob since she took over.)
March 15 · Ashish TomarHonestly, everything about this gym is 5 star worthy except for their ability to communicate changes. It may not be a big deal to most, but when you have a regimen that you try your best to maintain and you show up to the gym being closed for an event downtown, the sauna not working multiple times after calling to get an update, it gets very annoying. Just shoot an email out. Please. If I knew you were down, I would go to crappy la fitness and get my sauna time in. No offense, la fitness, you know your place as a backup gym. If the first estimate is wrong, tell us they will be close until further notice. Contractors are notorious for taking way longer than they say they will talk. It is how they win bids. Like I said, i love this gym, it is my favorite I’ve been to out of 5 different states (Texas, colorado, oklahoma, and florida, steam room would be sick though), but if I drive there, then have to turn around and drive 20-30 minutes to a different gym….it just flat out stinks. Please try and do better. I can imagine it would be worse if I took preworkout, just cracked out in traffic. So this review is for them too lol.
March 29 · Nicholas SellersPittsburgh’s best gym! From front door to top floor, this is what a gym is supposed to be. The front desk staff, Ashton and Trace, were very welcoming and professional as they helped us get started. The equipment is well-designed, clean, and well-maintained. The other gym members are respectful and put things back where they belong. For the Instagrammers out there, the lighting here and the rooftop views can’t be beat. Can’t wait to continue training here.
