Choosing a fitness center can be a big decision, and the Emory SAAC presents a compelling case for residents of Decatur and the wider Georgia area. What makes this facility particularly worth choosing is its incredible diversity of offerings. It is not just a gym; it is a full-scale recreation center that caters to a wide variety of interests and activities. For individuals or families who want to go to one place to swim, play tennis, lift weights, and attend group classes, the SAAC is an ideal solution. This multi-faceted approach to wellness makes it a unique and highly practical choice.
The quality of the amenities is a significant draw. With a great, well-maintained pool and tennis courts in excellent condition, members can be confident that they are getting access to top-tier facilities. The combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, including a gym with a variety of equipment and dedicated studios for yoga and Pilates, ensures that there is always something available, regardless of the weather or your mood.
However, it is important to note the operational considerations. One customer review pointed out that the pool hours could be improved, particularly on weekdays, to better accommodate people with traditional work schedules. While the summer membership is a fair price, a lack of an included parking pass is also a point of consideration. Despite these minor inconveniences, the overall value proposition remains strong. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great pool, decent gym area and they offer an extended summer membership for a fair price (although it really should include a parking pass!) The hours that the pool is open could be improved - 10am on weekends is fine but 12pm on the weekdays is really late most most working people. It would be nice to offer the pool to members only from 6-10am or 7-10am on weekdays and it could even close from 10am-12pm, before opening again for the day.
May 07 · Adelaide TaylorThe tennis courts are in great shape, maybe in need of some cleaning but the nets are up and they are ready for play!
February 14 · Linden ClassenWhat has happened to this faciliy? I have tried to reach someone at the SAAC Desk for over 15 minutes after 5pm. When I called about 30 minutes ago, I was given the wrong email address of the manager who handles pool memberships as the email came back. I had to push to get a phone number as a backup. Why would the phone number of the manager not be readily available? I have been going for years to this pool during the summer months. I used to purchase a punch pass as I visit a family shore home during the summer. Last year, I was told I had to purchase a membership and punch cards were stopped. Then, the membership ended earlier than in previous years. Why is this? Does Emory want to sell another membership for a brief season to make money?Last week, I stopped by to purchase a membership after receiving emails that the pool was being repaired. I was told that memberships had been limited this year, and I was put on a wait list. I was given an email address that was wrong too. I asked for a phone number and was told there was none, which was misinformation. Why can't the management information be available at the desk so wrong information is not given out and waste people's time.
May 15 · Kathleen M Flynn, LLCVery nice place, the only problem is that they keep only one of the long distance treadmill working. So, sometimes you can’t do your training like you planned 😓
June 13 · Jeann Sabino-CarvalhoThe SAAC is such an amazing facility! One thing I appreciate about the workout area is that it is always extremely clean. During the summer, the whole family enjoys the beautiful outdoor pool. It is a great place to rent for parties if you have an event that would be great poolside in the summer months.
