Bolt Parkour & Freerunning Academy Introduce
For residents of North Bethesda and the wider Maryland region, finding a gym that offers a truly dynamic and unique way to stay fit can be a challenge. Bolt Parkour & Freerunning Academy is the answer for those seeking an alternative to traditional workouts. This is a specialized gym that’s dedicated to the exciting and challenging disciplines of parkour and freerunning. More than just a place to exercise, Bolt is a community built on the pillars of development, safety, and fun. It’s an environment where individuals of all ages and abilities can build physical strength and agility while also developing life skills like confidence, problem-solving, and resilience. Whether you're a young child learning to jump and climb safely or an adult looking for a new and engaging way to stay active, Bolt offers a training experience that is both effective and incredibly rewarding.
The experiences of local patrons highlight both the unique nature of the gym and its commitment to providing a safe, supportive space. A club that took a weekend trip to Bolt had an "absolute blast," praising the facility for its safety features like the air track, trampoline, and padded blocks that allowed them to "try funky flippy stuff we'd never do outside." They also appreciated the clean, well-kept, and adjustable equipment that allowed for creative and personalized workouts. However, it's important to note the need for proper supervision, especially for younger children. While a past review mentioned a negative experience with a drop-in class for young kids, the staff and community are generally lauded for their high level of expertise and dedication. The gym’s own website confirms its commitment to safety, noting that it was "designed to promote safety as students work on parkour and tumbling progressions," with a "7200 sq ft of diverse training space and trained instructors."

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unsafe for young children. The drop-in was a complete waste of money, and the staff member that was supposed to guide young children (two 5 year olds) was not there - despite being able to book an intro class. The staff who were there encouraged unsafe activities with no guidance or appreciation of the age group. Adults had to intervene multiple times -- this is not safe for young children.
August 03 · Justin SchoolmasterAbsolute blast of a trip! We took our club down for a weekend and enjoyed every second of it. The air track, trampoline, and padded blocks all provided the safety we needed to try funky flippy stuff we'd never do outside. Similarly, the equipment is easily movable and adjustable, so we were able to set up whatever we wanted. Facilities were clean and well-kept. Will definitely try to come again!
November 07 · UMD Parkour ClubLove this gym!! Cannot say enough positive things about the way they support their students. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and having a good time during classes. I also recommend the Nerf Wars and Open Gym! Such a good outlet for kids to burn energy on the weekend, including those on a tighter budget who can’t commit to classes.
January 06 · Maddie RoseCoaches are super helpful and welcoming, equipment is high quality, set up was sweet. Good for all levels, beginner, intermediate, and expert levels. 10/10 experience (I’ve done parkour for 12+ years)
August 25 · Daniel SMy son is autistic, has ADHD, and anxiety. So, my expectation for my son’s ability to participate was low. However, when he was struggling in a class with kids who were not respectful of his differences, we elected to stop attending.Communication with admin and instructor staff was hit or miss & we tried to find a best fit class on our own, but there was literally zero support about the issue from staff. Without so much as a response to my emails, his drop from enrollment was accepted and processed immediately. Despite it taking several weeks to get him enrolled in classes in the first place. I know they aren’t going to come out and say they have no ability to support kids who struggle, but it was a very poor experience for us.Do not bring your child to this facility if they are physically capable, but lack confidence in themselves and don’t have self-advocacy skills. They will be ridiculed and barred from participating by the other kids who attend their classes and staff will have no capacity to support.
