For those across the California community, the practice of yoga often means more than just a physical workout; it is a path to inner peace, balance, and holistic well-being. Nestled in the heart of Orange County, the Yoga Center of California in Costa Mesa stands as a beacon of this authentic tradition. This is not just another modern fitness trend; it is a profound and established institution dedicated to teaching "true yoga," encompassing both the physical postures (asanas) and the essential practices of meditation.
Established over 46 years ago, the Yoga Center of California holds the distinction of being the first yoga center in Costa Mesa, a testament to its deep roots and commitment to the local community. The center's philosophy centers on the true meaning of the word "yoga"—the harmony of body, mind, and inner spirit. Their classes are designed to bring this sense of relaxation, harmony, and joy into your life, going far beyond simple stretching and ease of movement.
The studio prides itself on providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their background or current physical condition. As one long-time teacher notes, the studio features a unique double layer of padding beneath the carpet, enhancing comfort for practice whether you prefer a rubber or cotton mat. This thoughtful attention to the student experience, combined with a commitment to teaching the full spectrum of yoga—postures, breathing (pranayama), and meditation—establishes the Yoga Center of California as a premier destination for genuine, enriching yoga practice in Southern California.

Yoga Center of California Reviews
I'm one of the teachers here at the Yoga Center. I absolutely love this center! It's been here, in this same place for 46 years. How many places in Costa Mesa can say that?! I've been teaching here for over 20 years. I love this place and wouldn't go anywhere else! There is carpet on the floor, with a double layer of padding. So, you can be comfortable using a rubber mat, or a cotton mat either one. This center teaches true yoga, both postures and meditation. The word "yoga" means harmony of body, mind and inner spirit, and that's what yoga helps bring into your life, not just stretching and ease of movement, but relaxation, harmony and joy! We have classes available for all levels of yoga student... chair classes for people with mobility issues, classes that help you relax and go farther, and classes that help you challenge yourself and your body. We also teach many different types of meditation throughout the year. So, you can find that one meditation practice that works best for you, that helps you re-connect with your inner spirit. I hope you come visit us!
