★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My son started on a basketball team at the YMCA over 6 years ago , Coach Dave and Coach Tate team to be exact. Over the last 6 years we have all grown as a big team a really amazing team actually, These boys have become family to us as my son has played with the same player for many many years now . These boys play amazing together and they know each other so well and work so great together as a team and a family , I would like to thank are whole team and coaches for playing fantastic over this last season and just not this past season we have done this time and time again. This team took there time and the have coaches Dave and Tate has volunteered at the YMCA for over a decade, and for the past 6 years while my son has played for them , they carry there self with notbing but respect as they always have and they have both done nothing but a amazing job coaching our kids and I promise you I'm not the only parent that would say that about them 2 . We just finished up an undefeated season this past weekend , So South Kettering YMCA they have 2 different Kettering Teams So my sons team was Kettering Team 1 that is Coach Dave and Tate and the other team is called Kettering team 2 that is coach Combs , This past weekend My son and his team just won are in house tournament to advance to the championship game next week Are Kettering team 1 was so happy to win the game to go to the big game , So here is what gets me because 2 of are kids was not comfortable playing against the other team because just two weeks prior to that we played the same team and they played very aggressive and things got out of hand, We was DISQUALIFIED FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME NEXT WEEKEND just like that all that hard work and it's out the door and our boys are crushed as some of them it is there last year playing, here is just a few examples the coach Combs from Kettering Team 2 came over on my son teams side to confront our coach Kettering team 1 Dave , not 1 time not 2 times it happened 3 times where I find that to be very unprofessional that the coach to do that and it was not like hey man or this or that , that other coach approached are coach being aggressive 3 times it happened, noting was never said anything to coach Combs from the Kettering 2 team , Well we won that game as well , After the game we was talking to everyone from are team then coach Combs walked up to my my husband and my son well my husband said you think you could talk to your kids and the random kids that showed up during the second half cussing at the other kids on the court coach Combs looked at my husband and said very aggressive that is a f lie no one was cussing at you guys my husband said no not us on the other side of the gym the players and we left , and once again nothing happened to him about that why is that ok to talk to my husband like that why is it ok to call my husband a lier? This past game this last weekend who ever else helps coach with Combs keep telling his kids don't play nice don't play nice and once again I'm not the only parent or family that heard that, know I don't think that's very sportsmanship do you ? Well I don't . Now back to the boys lossing there spot in the championship, because we was cheating out of it ,In the rule book if the opponent team want to protest they have that right up to 5 mins after the game ended to do so , well it also States that it has to come from a coach to the sports director Lane not a parent to Lane well in case a parent went up to Lane to protest about the 2 boys not playing on my sons team , so that's breaking a rule on there side, because once again it has to be the coach to Lane and it most definitely was not , the game was over at 630 are coach Dave received a text message from coach Combs at 815 later that night he was letting him know he was sorry to hear about are team getting disqualified from the championship, first of all why is coach Combs texting our coach to tell him anything when Lane the sports director had not even reached out to are coach yet NOT DONE JUST OUT OF ROOM NEXT
August 19 · Jamie HammondReady to get started in the gym 🚴🏾🏋🏾🏊🏾🤸🏾they have a lot of activities & a lot of different programs for the kids 👯👶🏾🧒🏾🧑🏾👫🏾🏀🏸❤️price is not bad 👍🏾❤️ & they keep the building very clean that's a big Plus ➕👍🏾❤️👏🏾👏🏾💯.
July 04 · Mesha Slim Thick HerdLike the ymca. Hate this location. Every time I'm here I have problems with some hateful staff member. Never a problem at any other location. I'll not be back. And I'll be going to another gym from now on
August 06 · Harley RoseHad my son play basketball here this year. The communication when it comes to schedules is horrible. They are currently in an "in-house" tournament and we didn't know there was a tournament until two days before the scheduled game. We were only able to scrounge up 5 players last minute. We won the first game. So logic says we would have a game this Saturday. It's now Wednesday night and they have not contacted our coach. The sports director, Lane, has not answered the 2 times I've called nor returned my voicemail. Completely ridiculous.
August 14 · RueMy daughter took part in the Summer basketball program. It was a terrible experience. The coaches' communication was very last minute and often inaccurate. I spoke with Lane, who never returned my calls. Each time, I had to call him to get an update. He promised to reimburse us $50 for the issues we experienced. However, a week later when I followed up, he claimed he wouldn't be refunding us $50 because we waited until the season was over. Lane repeatedly acknowledged the numerous issues and claimed to understand, but actions speak louder than words. We are very unsatisfied with our experience and the outcome from Lane.UPDATE: On 9/9/24, I received a phone call from Melinda. She said she would refund us the $50. I appreciate that she called to make it right.
