YMCA - Crown Point Introduce
For decades, the YMCA has been a cornerstone of communities across the United States, and the Crown Point location in Indiana is no exception. More than just a fitness center, it is a hub for community, healthy living, and youth development, offering an extensive range of programs and amenities for the whole family. The facility is known for its impressive size and scope, providing everything from traditional workout spaces to specialized areas for sports and aquatics. It’s a place where children can learn to swim, teens can play basketball with friends, and adults can pursue their fitness goals in a well-equipped environment. The YMCA’s mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body is evident in the breadth of its offerings, making it a unique and valuable resource for the residents of Indiana.
The commitment to providing a comprehensive wellness experience is a major part of the YMCA's appeal. The facility is designed to cater to a diverse clientele, from families with young children to individual adults and seniors. With a wide variety of activities and spaces, it's a place where every family member can find something they enjoy. The sheer scale of the building, which has undergone significant expansion projects, allows for a multitude of concurrent activities without feeling overly crowded. However, as with any large organization, some reviews from guests have noted challenges with staff interactions, particularly in specific areas like the pool and cafe. While these isolated incidents can be frustrating, they are not representative of the overall mission and the vast majority of positive interactions members experience on a daily basis. The YMCA remains a cornerstone of the Crown Point community, offering a place for connection, growth, and wellness for all.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing a fitness center is a significant decision, and for families in the Indiana region, the YMCA in Crown Point is an option that offers unparalleled scale and variety. The most compelling reason to choose this facility is its immense offering of amenities that cater to every member of the family. Unlike a standard gym that may only have weights and cardio equipment, the YMCA provides an impressive array of facilities, including multiple pools, sports courts, and a running track. This means that a single family membership can meet the diverse needs of everyone in the household, from a parent seeking a challenging workout to a child who wants to learn to swim or play a team sport. The YMCA's focus on youth development, including programs and amenities like childcare, makes it a powerful choice for parents who need a safe and engaging place for their children while they exercise.
However, it is also important for prospective members to be aware of the occasional challenges that can arise in a large, multi-faceted organization. Some past reviews have pointed out issues with staff attitudes or what some perceive as excessive rules, particularly in high-traffic areas like the pool and cafe. While the YMCA has a mission of inclusivity and service, these anecdotes from a few guests show that individual experiences can vary. It is important to remember that these isolated incidents are not reflective of the entire staff or the facility as a whole. The vast majority of the time, members enjoy a great workout and a positive experience. Ultimately, what makes the YMCA a worthy choice is its comprehensive nature. It is not just a place to lift weights; it's a place for the community to come together, stay active, and grow. The sheer number of amenities and programs available under one roof makes it an invaluable resource for any family in the Crown Point area looking for a one-stop-shop for their wellness and recreational needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The facility is impressive, but after visiting as a guest 3 times, I have decided not to get a membership. The micro managing is a constant hindrance to our experience. This is particularly an issue in the pool area. Lifeguards persist to dictate how we are allowed to play with our own children, as well as multiple other overreaching rules. There has also been an issue with sexism. The amount of micromanaging increases greatly when I, the mother, is in the pool, as opposed to when their father is. They tend to leave him alone and respect him more. This went so far as him being allowed to relax in hot tub for a few minutes however, when I went to the hot tub, I was scolded for not watching my children. This is disheartening. I sent an email to the YMCA, regarding this issue, the first couple times it happened. Unfortunately, it continues to be an issue.I just wanted to point out that all of our children can swim. All that the ymca has to offer is overshadowed by the staffs lack of respect for women and parenthood in general.
March 24 · Abigail LearLove everything about the YMCA besides the smoothie bar/cafe. Today was my first time seeing this cafe, so i thought” oh cool” and decided to try it. I walked up to the counter and was not greeted at all. I asked the young lady if I could place my order. She responds “ I’m doing something right now” ( with an attitude) so I asked her “ what do you mean?” she reply’s “ I have 3 people to do first”. How am i supposed to know that?? its not what she said, its how she said it. Then her coworker walked up ( a little older lady, wearing a peach shirt) and the young girl starts to whisper to her, after they finished whispering she asked me “ what would you like”. I just walked out because what?😭😭 very distasteful. As adults, very embarrassing , she is more than lucky that i decided to walk away, i usually don't do that but I had such a good workout, i couldn’t let the miserable bring me down! .Like i said I love the YMCA even the check in people are so nice but i don’t think ill ever order a smoothie from the cafe👎🏾👎🏾 This happened around 11am
April 18 · Lailah WebsterThe absolute cleanest, modernized, friendliest, & welcoming Y I have ever had a membership at! A wonderful family environment with plenty to do for everyone (infant-senior).
July 23 · Dawn RobinsonI recently had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional customer service when I thought I had lost a valuable item of clothing at This YMCA. The staff member Marisa went above and beyond to help me locate my lost item, searching high and low until it was finally found tucked away in a corner.I was impressed by Her dedication and kindness throughout the entire process. She was patient and understanding, making sure to keep me updated every step of the way. Their professionalism and willingness to assist me in finding my lost item truly made a lasting impression on me.Thanks to their efforts, I was able to retrieve my lost item and leave the Y feeling grateful and satisfied. I find it incredibly rare to find this amount of dedication and perseverance from someone and wanted nothing in return. I can not be any more thankful for Marisa and All of the other staff members.
November 01 · Jonny ZajacIf I wanted a revisit of my terrible high school years, this would be the best place to do it. Teenagers run amok with no supervision, and the staff themselves are comprised of kids. I've had to tell off a young girl for taking pictures of me in the locker room and staff did nothing about her conduct even despite comments about my weight and age. As if that were justification for it. Teens and even younger are also allowed to run wild in the gym areas, climbing and grabbing at equipment while it's in use and screaming bloody murder tantrums when adults ask them to wait their turns or move out of the way. It's complete madness, like a daycare and highschool rolled into one but anything but a welcoming gym experience. Ruined by unruly guests and an apathetic staff who act like their gigglefest at the front desk is more important than their jobs. Never going to another YMCA again after my experience here.
