April 16 · Justine MarieThis place is nothing less than amazing. I’m a beginner and I’ve been to 3 sessions so far with different instructors and each session has left me feeling relaxed and invigorated. They have mats, blocks and blankets to use and they sell cute & spiritual trinkets/items. 10/10 would recommend!!! (Also the suite is very aesthetically-pleasing for the girlies who like that vibe)
September 01 · Edina GreenI’ve practiced yoga off and on throughout my adult life, but have never experienced such an amazing journey and atmosphere as Troy City Yoga! Becca was super knowledgeable, great at directing and amazing at guiding a connection between the mind, body, and spirit. If you are not a yoga person you will be after going here! 50000 stars!
December 27 · Emma LaceyI’ve been going to TCY for about a year and I cannot say enough positive things about it. I have learned so much about movement and about myself through each class and I am forever grateful for all the amazing teachers here. There is one class I took with Jeffrey that focused on “you belong/you are always welcome” and I say this to anyone who is thinking of taking a class at TCY. You will be welcome with open arms and I hope to see you on your mat 🫶🏼.
December 16 · Allison CarvalhoThe disco ball hanging dormant above my warrior III should have been my first clue that this wasn't your typical wellness sanctuary. Suspended from timber rafters in a converted textile mill like a glittery declaration of intent, it presided over twenty-two bodies moving through surprisingly intense vinyasa flow on a Saturday morning.Welcome to Troy City Yoga, where founder Abbe Ciulla has created something genuinely rare in the homogenized wellness industry: a premium studio that actually feels authentically whacky.Housed in Fall River's historic Davol Street mill complex, the 1,600-square-foot space embraces its industrial bones. Steel columns punctuate the practice area like yoga props themselves, while warm wood ceilings soften the aesthetic just enough to remind you this is still, technically, a yoga studio. My instructor Kayla Nocon's "Solar Flow Beats" class promised rhythm and intensity. She delivered both. Despite the unheated room, my fitness tracker registered 38 active zone minutes — serious cardiovascular work peaking at 154 bpm during ambitious lunges and rotational poses. This wasn't gentle flow masquerading as exercise.Nocon's cuing was precise without being precious, building heat through intelligent sequencing rather than cranked thermostats. The diverse student body ranged from obvious beginners to seasoned practitioners across all body types, equally engaged. The class crescendoed into extended savasana with live sound bath instruments — a premium touch elevating the experience beyond typical Spotify cool-downs. Details like this justify Troy City's positioning in Fall River's competitive market. But it's the deliberate funkiness that sets it apart. Geometric black-and-white lobby flooring gives way to practical VCT tiles in the practice space — cold underfoot but honest about priorities. Plants cascade from every surface, while local art lines walls alongside curated merchandise displays. Most refreshingly, nobody tried upselling me anything. When I needed a mat, staff simply lent one. Pricing was transparent, suggesting a business more interested in building community than extracting maximum revenue per visit. This authenticity gap — between Instagram-perfect wellness brands and actual practice spaces where real people sweat — explains Troy City's rapid pandemic growth. While other studios chase corporate minimalist aesthetics and whispered mantras, Ciulla doubled down on creative irreverence.Trade-offs are real. Bathrooms are shared with other building tenants (no showers), and the unfinished mill setting feels raw compared to luxury wellness destinations. But for practitioners seeking substance over polish, these limitations become features.Fall River adds context — a poor working-class city rebuilding from industrial decline, not wealthy suburbs where $150 yoga packages are casual purchases. Troy City's success suggests appetite for premium wellness that doesn't abandon authentic urban grit.As I left through weathered corridors, abundant parking confirming the building's weekend emptiness, I realized Ciulla solved a puzzle stymying many wellness entrepreneurs: creating something genuinely special without losing your soul to scalability. In an industry increasingly dominated by venture-backed chains and luxury lifestyle brands, Troy City Yoga proves there's still room for the real thing — even if it comes with a disco ball and floors that remind you where you are.
