Tri-Town Gymnastics Center Introduce
For families in Connecticut, finding a place where children can develop physical skills, build confidence, and have fun is a top priority. Gymnastics centers, in particular, offer a dynamic environment for kids to learn discipline, coordination, and strength. In Tolland, Tri-Town Gymnastics Center has long been a fixture in the community, providing a wide array of programs for children of all ages and abilities. This article aims to provide a factual and comprehensive overview of the center, its services, and what prospective families in the Connecticut region should know.
Tri-Town Gymnastics Center, founded in 1981, has a long history of serving the communities of Tolland, Vernon, and Ellington, as its name suggests. Over the decades, it has become a well-known establishment for gymnastics training. The center offers a variety of programs, catering to different age groups and skill levels, from toddlers in preschool classes to dedicated athletes in competitive programs. Their commitment to gymnastics is extensive, covering everything from recreational activities to professional-level training.
The center's offerings are designed to provide a structured yet fun environment for children to learn and grow. They have programs specifically tailored for young children, helping them develop fundamental motor skills and social interaction. For older children, the classes progress to more complex gymnastics skills, with options for those who are just starting out as well as for those who have been practicing for years. This wide range of options ensures that a child's gymnastics journey can be a long and continuous one within the same facility.
However, recent reviews and public information suggest a more complex picture. A detailed review from a customer who has been with the gym for a while points to significant challenges, particularly related to communication, class organization, and coaching quality. The review highlights a lack of communication regarding a planned move to a new facility, leading to uncertainty for parents. It also notes issues with large class sizes that contradict the advertised teacher-to-student ratio and a perceived lack of organization that results in children spending more time waiting than training.
The same review raises concerns about coaching methods and a perceived bias towards competitive team members over recreational students. It alleges that teachers are condescending and that there is a lack of focus on foundational skills like conditioning for non-team members. These claims are in contrast to the promotional materials that mention programs for all skill levels. It is important for potential customers to be aware of these reported experiences and to consider them alongside the center's long-standing reputation.
Despite these concerns, the center does offer a broad range of services and has been a part of the community for many years. Its longevity suggests that it has served a great number of families successfully over time. The information provided by the center itself indicates a variety of structured programs, from recreational classes to personalized coaching, which are often sought after by families. The center's website also highlights new features in a recently moved facility, such as expanded parking, designated preschool spaces, and elevated team facilities, which are meant to improve the experience for all members.
This article aims to provide a balanced and factual look at Tri-Town Gymnastics Center, using both its own provided information and publicly available reviews to give a complete picture. For Connecticut families considering a gymnastics program for their children, it is crucial to have all the facts to make an informed decision.

What is worth choosing?
Choosing a gymnastics center for your child in Connecticut requires careful consideration, and Tri-Town Gymnastics Center presents a mixed but detailed profile. It is worth choosing for families who are looking for a facility with a long history and a comprehensive range of programs. The sheer number of services offered, from **Preschool Classes** to **Competitive Programs** and even **Homeschool Classes**, means that a family can potentially find a long-term home for their child's gymnastics training as they grow and develop. The center's stated commitment to developing gymnastics skills and its history of coaching state, regional, and national champions in both men's and women's competitive programs are notable.
Furthermore, the center's focus on accessibility, with a **wheelchair accessible entrance, parking lot, and restroom**, is a significant benefit that makes it a welcoming and inclusive space for all. The option to pay with **credit and debit cards** also adds a layer of convenience for parents. The new facility, with features like expanded parking and designated preschool space, suggests an investment in improving the overall experience for its members.
However, it is crucial for potential families to be aware of the serious concerns raised in a recent review. The review points to issues that could impact the quality of a child's experience, including a perceived lack of communication from management, large class sizes that may not adhere to advertised ratios, and a coaching style that may favor competitive athletes over recreational students. Allegations of condescending teaching and a lack of focus on conditioning are significant red flags that prospective families should investigate further. The review's claim that “you will only ever see photos on their facebook site of littles (2-4) and the team kids at competitions, NEVER of the beginner-intermediate groups” suggests a possible disparity in attention that families should be aware of.
In conclusion, Tri-Town Gymnastics Center could be a suitable choice for families seeking a facility with a long history and a variety of programs, especially for those interested in the competitive track. Its commitment to accessibility is a definite positive. However, it is strongly recommended that families considering the center inquire directly about class sizes, coaching philosophy, and communication practices to ensure the environment aligns with their expectations and their child's needs. Given the conflicting information, a personal visit and a trial class would be an invaluable step before committing to a membership.

Tri-Town Gymnastics Center Reviews
Class: Intermediate Age 7Last year I thought the program was run much better (23-24 school year). This year with the move supposed to have happened, there was no communication as to what was going on unless you asked and even then there was so much uncertainty. I understand delays with construction/town approvals etc, but when you are expecting to have signed your child up for a new facility and more space, there should have been clear communication in regards to timelines/expectations etc.Class size: 16 kids in one class!!!! They advertise 8:1 ratio but the there is one head teacher and one other teacher who spends more time looking at the ceiling and elsewhere or leaning against apparatus then she does teaching. There a 2-3 student helpers which are girls from higher levels who help, but they are not allowed to spot and my daughter crashed on her head 2x due to this fact!Organization: NON-existent!!!! These kids spent more time sitting around waiting for team kids to clear off an event to then rush to set up mats or whatever and have only a few minutes to “learn”Teacher: my daughter’s teacher was constantly condescending in her delivery of critiques. Always complaining how she has sooo many classes, or she’s this or that. Even physically picked up a girl about 8 to move her to the other side of the mat for stretching because she was chatting and she was annoyed with it. Wasn’t my kid or this review would be quite different.Cost: $82 a month as advertised but beware, this is based on 4 WEEK months!!!! (Not advertised) closed for a week to move and still charged full price for the month saying it would be calculated in last month of the class year. That ended up not showing a 1 week credit and when questioned they literally pulled out a calendar to show me I was still getting an extra class for free! WTH!!!!They spent 5 weeks on the same two events until I said something and not once from when they moved buildings to now have they used the floor for more than 7 minutes!Overall: my daughter has lost skills she had in September because of the lack in actual coaching. We have started a new gym that actual does conditioning and strength training with them. The overwhelming feeling from many is if you don’t have 100% natural ability they don’t take interest in you. And only when you are team is it when you get the special attention.Note that you will only ever see photos on their facebook site of littles (2-4) and the team kids at competitions, NEVER of the beginner-intermediate groups because they just don’t seem to care. Also note: 99% of the 5 star ratings are from years and years ago, nothing new!

June 12 · Jennifer ThibodeauFantastic program for all of my children. From my older boys, 8 and 10 years old, who are on team and travel around the state, to my younger girls, 6 year old twins, who participate in recreational classes. The coaches are well experienced and attentive. The younger instructors are good with the children and have great enthusiasm. I would recommend this gym to anyone at any level. From the beginner, who may just want exercise a couple times a week, to the motivated gymnast, who wants to compete across the state and possibly the region.
April 03 · Christopher UrsilloThese people are just liars and completely rude. Before I even decided to bring my 2 year old child there, I called to make sure of a couple of things. I left them a message on a Monday and they didn't get back to me till over a week later (fine whatever people get busy). I decided to try it out and my child was kinda listening to the teachers but not really because of the age. So I finally decided to take my child there and they said that it was fine that they can work with my child that it was normal that my child wasn't really behaving, that in time they would get used to the place and start listening. But this last time that I was there, there was an older woman that wasn't there the first time, and I saw the second my child went in that she had no patiences for my running around child. After only 15 mins in the class the older woman takes my child to the room I was in and told me that my child was not a good listener and that we would have to go to another class and that my child couldn't be in the class, because my child was distracting all the other kids (which all the other kids were listening just find with my child running around). First they don't call back, second they tell you they can handle a 2 year old, and third they rudely kick my child out of the class because the older woman had no patiences. I WILL never be going back to this place!
April 06 · Paula PaezIf you join them...expect a family. It doesn't matter who you are.. where you come from.... Debi and her crew will embrace you and will forever want the best for you and your family.. forever grateful for her community 💕
