TRAPHAUS Introduce
For many New Yorkers, finding a fitness center that truly stands out from the crowd can feel like a search for a needle in a haystack. TRAPHAUS, a one-of-a-kind fitness studio in the Lower East Side, is that rare and exciting find. It's a place that has completely redefined the workout experience by fusing the challenging, low-impact movements of Pilates and Lagree with the high-energy intensity of strength training, all set to an amazing playlist of trap and house music. It's a true "glorious house of gains" and a refreshing alternative to the typical gym. As one reviewer noted, this is "exactly what the city needed," a place where the workout is as vibrant and dynamic as the city itself.
The philosophy at TRAPHAUS goes beyond just a workout. It's about a movement that blends fitness with culture, creating a community where people feel energized and connected. For New Yorkers who are tired of monotonous workout routines, TRAPHAUS offers a challenging yet fun environment that keeps you coming back for more. The unique combination of half reformer and half weights workout has been praised by members as "the best in the city." The instructors are key to this success, with one reviewer highlighting instructor Eric's "great energy, clear and concise cueing, and provided demos." It’s this high-level of instruction combined with a unique vibe that makes TRAPHAUS a destination for locals and visitors alike.
TRAPHAUS is conveniently located at 121 Ludlow St Floor 2, New York, NY 10002, USA. This central Lower East Side location makes it easily accessible for anyone in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. While specific details on accessibility were not publicly available at the time of this writing, the location within a bustling part of the city means it is well-served by public transportation and is a familiar address for many New Yorkers. The studio is situated on the second floor, and the entrance is easy to find on Ludlow Street. This prime location allows for a seamless transition from the busy city streets to a focused and invigorating workout environment.
The services offered at TRAPHAUS are a unique blend of different fitness disciplines, creating a comprehensive and highly effective workout.
Lifting: One of the core components of a TRAPHAUS workout is strength training. The studio offers a variety of workouts that incorporate lifting, using free weights and other equipment. The classes are often split, with a portion of the time dedicated to building muscle and strength on a bench, a perfect complement to the reformer work.
Pilates: TRAPHAUS uses a Pilates-inspired approach, particularly focusing on reformer techniques. These low-impact movements are performed on a Megaformer machine and are designed to strengthen and lengthen muscles, improve core strength, and enhance flexibility. This side of the workout challenges the body in ways that traditional weightlifting cannot, creating a well-rounded fitness regimen.
Lagree: The workout is specifically referred to as a blend of Lagree and hypertrophy training. Lagree is an intense, low-impact workout performed on a Megaformer machine that targets slow-twitch muscle fibers. This method is known for its ability to build muscular endurance and create a lean, toned physique. The combination of this technique with lifting makes for a challenging and effective full-body workout that promises results.
Specialty Classes: TRAPHAUS offers themed classes such as "Up in the trap" (upper body focus), "Trappin' on the low" (lower body focus), and "Full haus" (total body workout). This variety ensures that members can target specific muscle groups and keep their routine exciting.
The features and highlights of TRAPHAUS are what make it a destination for fitness enthusiasts in New York City.
Unique Workout Fusion: The blend of reformer Pilates and strength training is what truly sets TRAPHAUS apart. It's a workout style that is hard to find elsewhere and has been praised by members for its effectiveness. The workouts are a "challenging" and "humbling" experience that provides a full-body grind.
Incredible Playlists and Atmosphere: The curated music is a defining feature of the studio. One reviewer expressed their relief that TRAPHAUS offers something other than house music, with "amazing playlists" that keep the energy high and the workout fun. The "vibe" is a key part of the experience, fostering a supportive community. The studio also provides a restroom and shower for members' convenience.
Knowledgeable Instructors: The instructors are a major highlight, with reviews noting their "great energy," clear instructions, and ability to provide demos. They are professional and motivating, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and confident, regardless of their experience level.
Inclusivity: As a black-owned and black-led studio, TRAPHAUS is intentional about creating a welcoming and inclusive space for the black community, as well as for everyone who walks through their doors. This commitment to community building is a key part of their mission.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I came to Traphaus while in town for work and tried the upper body class. It was AMAZING! I love the mix of reformer and strength training. The instructor Eric had such a great energy, gave clear and concise cueing, and provided demos when needed. The playlist was exactly what I hoped it would be. My next NYC trip this will be high priority!
August 08 · Jasmine TilleryI’ve taken many different style workout classes and this hands down is the best in the city. Half reformer and half weights workout. Everything in the city is house music (sigh) , Traphaus is exactly what the city needed. Amazing playlists , great instructors and a challenging workout.
April 16 · Emma EskanderFirst off, the staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. That alone sets this studio apart. So many places miss the mark at the front desk, and it’s such an important part of the experience especially when working out or trying something like reformer Pilates can feel intimidating or vulnerable for people. Now for the workout itself: I’ve honestly been waiting for a concept like this. As someone who primarily does reformer Pilates and runs, I know how important strength training is especially for women as we age so I was excited to find a space that combines both. Bonus points for the music: love that I can get through an intense workout without hearing Taylor Swift…I’ve taken class with most of the instructors here (except Jeff, Nat and Marcelle though I’ve taken Marcelle elsewhere and she’s great). Devin, however, is my favorite. You can tell she has years of experience. Her ability to guide both the reformer and floor sections with sharp cues and corrections shows how dialed in she is. That kind of attention makes a huge difference. Will try Jeff’s class soon when I have the chance. The studio itself is beautiful from the huge mirror to the interior design, it feels luxe without being over the top.PS: today’s full body workout was incredible!
April 16 · Selena MoralesHonestly, this is one of the best workout classes I’ve taken in a while. It’s the perfect mix of Megaformer and weights, and the music is such a boost. Your experience level doesn’t matter—you will get a great workout no matter what. The instructors and staff are kind and supportive, and the class literally felt like a room full of people just trying to be their best selves.Great energy—I definitely recommend it!I took the Trap’n on the Low with Jeff, who is amazing.Disclaimer: You’ll feel it the next day! :)
March 19 · D HowardTrapHaus is hands down the only workout studio I’ve ever been to that truly feels like a community. Naimah is one of my favorite instructors. She’s one of the few people who can actually get me up early in the morning to work out. Her energy is unmatched: engaging, motivating, and exactly what I need to start my day. I religiously go to her classes on Monday, Thursday, and now Friday! And the music? Always a vibe. So happy to have found the best workout, the best studio, and the best instructors in Manhattan!
