Classes are fun and go at a great pace. I highly recommend The Hive. They have a Yoga class for everyone. Go check them out!Yoga fan, Sandy E
May 27 · Sandy EnglishI Have been attending classes here since they opened almost 3 years ago. I originally started with chair yoga, but have recently tried a number of different classes. I am so glad that i found this wonderful place.I highly recommend that you give The Hive a try! It is such a welcoming place, free of judgement. The Hive has helped me improve my health and overall well-being!
June 03 · Therese LoughranI took The Hive's Women's Self-Defense course, and it was life-changing. I did not want to take martial arts courses, and I don't have time for several classes in a row, so this "one and done" 3-hour class was convenient and taught me so much.Pros:Clean, well-lighted, and really pleasant space that is conveniently located around the corner from Bradley Airport and Route 91.The course was taught in a logical sequence, with lots of physical practice before we moved on to the next step. It's based on the teachers' training which is substantial and credible--they are certified in this area through several days of national training.I didn't know the class attendees before this, but we became a friendly and helpful cohort before very long. I came alone, but paired up with another woman who came alone. I really liked these women and their daughters! And I loved the teachers! The emphasis is on keeping yourself safe and teaches you important moves that will keep you alive and let you get away from an attacker. It uses the parts of your body that are most strong--even though I am in my 60's, and not in great shape, I left feeling really powerful. We were all differently-sized women, but the two teachers were terrific--they helped us all understand how much power we have in our bodies. It was memorable--even though they sent us the instructional slides--the moves were so basic (but not necessarily intuitive) that I remember them all well. When I said it was life changing, it really means that I carry myself differently, and I can be out at night, or go to bed in my house without that horrible fear that I will be a victim and not know what to do.I have told many of my variously-aged friends about The Hive, and am organizing a group of mothers and 20-something daughters for this course at The Hive when the kids come home for Christmas. No Cons--Best money I ever spent!!!
October 21 · nckI’m very grateful for The Hive and the amazing instructors that are a part of it. Before attending classes I was struggling with panic attacks/controlling cortisol levels. After just three classes I was finally able to sleep through the night, go about my days in a calming and meditative state, and get rid of my anxiety completely. This studio is life changing, if you’re in search of mindful meditative poses and a supportive environment, The Hive is for you.
May 02 · Sophie GroensteinI took the Self Defense as a college student and the knowledge and professionalism was exceptional. I feel more confident in myself and feel I have the skills to defend myself in any situation. Laurie and Amy kept the class engaging and made sure everyone in the class was comfortable.
