Studio Yogi Introduce
For those living in or around Chicago, finding a yoga studio that feels like a true sanctuary can be a transformative experience. Studio Yogi, a jewel in the heart of the South Shore neighborhood, is exactly that kind of place. Founded and owned by Julia, the studio has been intentionally created to be a beautiful and welcoming space that fosters a deep sense of community. It’s a place where individuals, whether they are new to yoga or have been practicing for years, can feel comfortable and supported on their journey. The commitment to a positive and inclusive environment is a core part of the studio's identity, making it a beloved destination for many in Illinois. A member who has been with the studio since it opened shared that it has "enriched my life immeasurably," a powerful testament to the studio's profound impact.
The dedication to providing a high-quality and personalized experience is a hallmark of Studio Yogi. As one new-to-yoga member noted, they are "extremely grateful for Studio Yogi" because the instructors are "magnificent." This is a key differentiator for the studio; each instructor brings their "own perspective, skills, & discipline to the practice of yoga." This variety in teaching styles allows students to gain exposure to different techniques, helping them to "grow & advance" their practice. This approach ensures that workouts are never monotonous and that students can continually challenge themselves in new and exciting ways. The sense of community among instructors and students, described as "wonderful," creates an atmosphere of shared growth and encouragement. For Chicago residents, Studio Yogi offers a special blend of expert instruction and a nurturing community, making it the perfect place to start or deepen a yoga practice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am very new to yoga and I am extremely grateful for Studio Yogi! Studio Yogi’s founder and owner Julia has created a beautiful and welcoming space for yoga and also creates a wonderful sense of community among instructors and students. The instructors are magnificent: I love how each instructor brings their own perspective, skills, & discipline to the practice of yoga, so as a student, I gain exposure to varying techniques to grow & advance my practice! I enjoy a monthly membership and take weekly vinyasa, sculpt, and restorative classes. Also, the studio is super easy to access on 71st street: I have ridden my bike, taken the bus, and when driving street parking is easy to find. I 100% recommend signing up for a membership if you enjoy yoga or are looking to start!
April 26 · Sam R. M.A jewel of a studio! The teachers are knowledgeable and attuned, and the space itself is lovely. I've been a member of Studio Yogi since it opened, taking a range of classes, and it has enriched my life immeasurably. Deeply grateful.
August 06 · Audrey PettyI attended my first session at Studio Yogi this week! The owner and founder Julia is incredibly kind - I spoke to her a few times on the phone because of issues I had with registering (on my end). I appreciated her genuineness and friendliness. The classes are affordable and the space is wonderful! I love that the space feels secure and welcoming. Julia definitely put thought and love into the kind of studio she wanted to establish. There are many programs for FREE classes and community engagement/outreach. I love it! They offer many kinds of classes and times, so you can try new things and find what fits you. And this place is CLEAN. There are several showers available, lockers, and an area for seating if you arrive early. Plenty of parking too! I'm so grateful to have found a new place to practice. I look forward to trying other classes and meeting other instructors!
February 06 · Sharon WehmeyerI’ve been looking to get into a yoga practice ever since coming back from a wellness retreat last year. I heard about this black owned yoga studio in South Shore from Instagram and word-of-mouth and I thought I would give it a try! I had a really great time at the 6 PM Evening Mellow Flow class with Mekeba - he made sure to check in with the group to see if there were beginners, And he offered modifications for each move that we did during this practice. As someone who is not quite new-new, but also is definitely rusty and bigger bodied - I felt very comfortable in this class. I’ll be back! I might even get a pass. You can’t beat that monthly price!!
February 25 · Elisa.I went to Studio Yogi for the first time earlier this week and have been every day since. The studio offers a variety of classes taught by various wonderful instructors including restorative yoga, flow, sculpt, and a weekly sound cleanse. Having this is such a gift, especially in an area with limited options for fitness and wellness. If you’re in the area, or even a bit further, I highly recommend that you check out a class or join their monthly membership.
