★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been doing pilates for over a decade. Whenever I am in Connecticut visiting family, I attend classes at SOMA Movement Studio. Mary is extremely knowledgeable; her cuing is spot on and often hilarious. I've watched Mary grow the studio through COVID and beyond. She's created new spaces; made a beautiful studio; and has taken on new instructors. (Unfortunately I've not had the opportunity to take classes with the newest instructors - Bonnie and Erica). I have taken different level classes not only with Mary, but also with earnest Nancy and sweet Melissa, all gave amazing, beautiful workouts - focusing on purposeful breathing, alignment, core strength, posture, flexibility, and body awareness. Pilates should always focus on those attributes, and SOMA Movement Studio definitely does it right!
April 29 · Joy MI have been in physical therapy for my shoulder since April 2024 at another business. I started taking pilates at Soma simultaneously. Pilates has been a great addition to my physical therapy and the instructors have been very thoughtful and considerate with my physical limitations and have greatly assisted with my recovery.
October 22 · Jessica StevensTaking Pilates classes with Mary at Soma Movement has changed my life and improved my strength and flexibility. Mary is simply amazing! She takes the time to explain details about how each exercise should be done with frequent small tweaks to your form that suddenly make the exercises even more beneficial. She has a natural ability to teach and explains things in a simple and methodical way. Mary is constantly aware of each individual and manages to help you with personal adjustments without slowing the rest of the class down. Whether you are just trying Pilates for the first time or have been practicing for years, Mary meets you were you are as an individual and guides you to progress at the speed you want and need.
November 10 · Lynn LeClaireHad the most wonderful and intriguing class with Mary. She is so knowledgeable and effective with her cues. I loved discovering the new things about my body from a neurological and somatic standpoint. Highly recommend!! Can’t wait to come back next time!
March 01 · Jia LiI just took my 4th class and I love it! Nancy is great and really gives you a challenging work out, but at the same time, truly makes the class fun. All of the other woman in my Monday class have all been so kind and welcoming.
