★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City offers a state-of-the-art Athletics and Wellness Center, designed to support physical education and athletic programs for students from Pre-K through Grade 12.The "406" facility encompasses a 25-yard, 6-lane swimming pool with spectator seating for 200, a regulation-sized gymnasium accommodating 288, a 1,900-square-foot strength and conditioning studio, a dance studio equipped with ballet bars and a wood-sprung floor, and over 2,000 square feet of multipurpose fitness rooms, including an athletic trainer room. Additionally, the school leverages offsite NYC facilities, such as Central Park and Randall's Island, for practices and classes.Opened in 2014, the 60,000-square-foot Athletics and Wellness Center prioritizes athletics, health, and wellness, providing a contemporary environment for student-athletes and achieving LEED Gold certification for its sustainable design. The school's athletic philosophy centers on imparting life lessons through sports, fostering individual development and team achievement. Convent of the Sacred Heart is a member of the Athletic Association of Independent Schools (AAIS), part of the NYSAIS Athletic Association, with interscholastic sports commencing in Grade 5, featuring 38 teams across 13 sports in the middle and upper school divisions.
July 30 · Michael Piccionebeautiful pool and great blocks as a competitive swimmer. only problem is the ventilation system which causes many athletes practicing here to cough nonstop due to bad air quality. in addition, service here is really bad, but that’s not really a problem for me.
January 27 · Ellie XI showed up for a swim lesson which I had booked in advance. They told me my daughter’s lesson had been cancelled but no one bothered to call or email to let me know it wasn’t happening.
May 13 · Christopher BarlowGreat facility that is also used by local organizations like the 92nd St Y for their swimming classes. My concern is the cellular phone signal. It is very weak or in most of my experience, non-existent. Add to this their very strict control of the WIFI network — you need to get a new password every day. If there is a student or anyone for that matter trapped or in danger, it will be impossible or at best very difficult to call for help.As it is an educational sports facility with changing rooms, the school should be more cognizant of risks of female students in changing rooms and have no way to call for help. They also set their WIFI to block connections for games like Minecraft. This will frustrate siblings who are waiting for their siblings to finish their programs at the gym.
June 03 · C KVery clean and very well organized. Lots of offerings for the community, super clean and the staffs are nice. One of the best indoor gyms in the city
