I moved to Richmond in early 2021 and was very nervous about working out again and being outside around people. I first met with Heather in November 2021 during our consultation. I told her about my nervousness and the injuries/surgeries I had as a student athlete. More than anything I wanted to be strong. She made me feel safe and supported. She went over everything in great detail and I knew I was in the right place. The workout regimen is so personalized and perfectly fits my strength level and goals. Heather is a fantastic cheerleader. She always motivates me, which makes me never want to give up and also try new things. She understands I’m an overachiever, but reminds me that it’s okay to only do what my body allows. She is willing to modify activities for me so I can get the same workout regardless. A lot has happened in life since then and Heather is understanding that mind and spirit have to be aligned for the body. She incorporates recentering stretches so that I can get in tune with myself on bad days. And after our workouts, a really bad day can end up being a great one. She is also flexible and willing to work within my schedule.The gym itself is wonderful! The members and staff are so kind and welcoming. I never feel out of place or embarrassed. And honestly, I get a great ab workout from all the laughing I do when I get there. I attended my first class recently and was worried I wouldn’t keep up, but it was great. Everyone is at their own pace and no one is forcing you to be anything but you. If you’re looking for a gym that is inclusive of everyone and their fitness levels, this is the place for you. And although I want to keep Heather all to myself, I highly recommend you meet with her if you’re interested in personal training!

I’m also a big fan of the programming because accessory work is built in to help prevent injury and create stability in heavy lifts. They also recently added a skills class for members who want to work on gymnastics movements and refining technique. RVA PT is an all around great place!

Jake and Kat, the owners, super nice, hire Amazing Instructors like Eli Marano, Heather Coe and Personal Trainers like Karli Johnson. Their knowledge of Functional Fitness and their ability to show the Athlete how to perform are simply Amazing. Jason Armogida, the GM, is outstanding at Programming events and super cool too.The Members are very nice and welcoming which range in age from the 20's to the 60's from all walks of life. If you want to be apart of a Community, reach out to Hannah Skudlarek, Member Success Coordinator, who is Awesome and will get you started in this outstanding performance Gym.
