Runyon Canyon Yoga Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For anyone in the Los Angeles area, or visiting Southern California, seeking an authentic, community-driven, and utterly scenic yoga experience, Runyon Canyon Yoga offers something truly unique. This is not a traditional indoor studio; it is an institution of outdoor, donation-based yoga set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hollywood Hills. Runyon Canyon Yoga has become a staple of the Los Angeles fitness and wellness scene since its founding in 2005, standing out as one of the best ways to practice Vinyasa Flow surrounded by nature and with sweeping views of the city.
Located within the popular Runyon Canyon Park, this program brings the ancient practice of yoga into a modern, accessible, and public space. The practice takes place on the designated yoga field, a patch of green space near the main park entrance, away from the immediate hustle of the hiking trails. This setup provides a peaceful counterpoint to the energetic trails and dog park areas that make Runyon Canyon so famous. Whether you are a dedicated local practitioner or a tourist looking for that quintessential LA outdoor workout, Runyon Canyon Yoga offers a memorable and grounding experience under the California sky. It is a true embodiment of the accessible, active lifestyle that defines Los Angeles.
Location and Accessibility
Runyon Canyon Yoga is found within the public space of Runyon Canyon Park at its main southern entrance, located at the top of Fuller Avenue in the heart of Hollywood.
Address: 1998 N Fuller Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA
Accessibility is a key part of the experience, though it requires a slight adjustment for those used to private studio parking. The park itself is situated just east of the Santa Monica Mountains, making it a central and easy-to-reach spot for many Southern California residents.
Parking and Transportation:
The park itself does not have a dedicated parking lot, which is important for California drivers to note. Visitors must find street parking on nearby avenues, being sure to read all posted signage carefully for restrictions. Alternatively, for those who prefer not to navigate street parking, using rideshare services like Uber or Lyft is highly recommended. The location is also conveniently just a ten-minute walk from the Metro Red Line—Hollywood and Highland stop, making it accessible via public transportation. Once you arrive at the Fuller Avenue entrance, the yoga field is situated just inside, often in a small fenced-in children's play area or a dedicated grassy nook.
Amenities:
While Runyon Canyon Park is an undeveloped wilderness area, Restrooms are available for public use near the park entrance. It is worth noting that due to the outdoor nature of the practice, attendees should be prepared for an authentic park experience. Bringing a yoga mat or towel is strongly advised, though as one reviewer noted, some choose to practice barefoot on the grass.

The services at Runyon Canyon Yoga are streamlined to focus on an inclusive and consistent outdoor flow practice.

What is Worth Choosing
If you are a resident or visitor in California, choosing Runyon Canyon Yoga offers a distinctive and highly rewarding experience that goes far beyond a typical yoga class. What truly sets this offering apart is the blending of natural beauty with accessibility. The donation-based model removes a significant financial barrier, inviting everyone in the community—from students to professionals—to partake in high-quality instruction. This democratic approach to wellness is a defining feature that has earned it a devoted following and glowing testimonials. As one patron noted, it is an "absolutely amazing experience" that highlights the best of the L.A. active lifestyle.
While some popular trails can feel "overcrowded" at peak times, as another reviewer mentioned regarding the hiking, the designated yoga field provides a focused, tranquil area for practice. You get the incredible motivation of an outdoor workout environment—sunshine, fresh air, and those magnificent views—without the confines of four walls. It is a chance to integrate your physical practice with the energy of one of LA's most iconic parks. The ability to seamlessly pair an invigorating hike up to Inspiration Point or Clouds Rest with a grounding Vinyasa Flow makes this a complete mind-body routine. You will find yourself feeling muscle soreness in places you didn't know existed, followed by a profound sense of calm and connection to the vast Los Angeles landscape. For an authentic, powerful, and budget-friendly yoga experience in the heart of Hollywood, Runyon Canyon Yoga is an essential California wellness destination.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1An absolutely amazing experience, and by far the best part of my trip to L.A. A yoga mat or towel is recommended but I did it barefoot in the grass just fine. I felt muscle soreness in places I didn’t know muscles existed. Would come all the way back just for this experience again.
November 20 · Amanda MinettiAverage local hike. I came from Arizona and wasn’t too appealed with the mountain or overcrowded people. Hard to maneuver around to actually workout.
February 17 · Jeremy LeavyI've been practicing yoga on my own for a few years and have been diving deeper into my practice within the last year and a half. I have always wanted to practice outside of just myself with a community of yogis without the hassle of a yoga membership. That is why I enjoy coming to Runyon to practice yoga. Not only because I get to practice in the community, but also because the yogi teachers are legit. They pay attention to the class as a whole to set a flow that is easily modified for each individual. I mainly attend the MWF classes or T-Th classes. The classes are by a no-pressure donation based system, but have at least $5 on you. You will want to give something after your time on the mat.
February 02 · Jasmine DamaraAmazing teacher, outdoor class for any level, and you don’t even need to bring a yoga mat. No excuses everyone can do it. It’s really great. I can’t wait to go back!
December 24 · Sarah Averyt I Real EstateTMDaniel is here every Monday, Wed and Friday! Rain or shine :) love it!
