What is worth choosing
Choosing a gym in New York can be a personal decision, and Pump House Fitness in Binghamton offers a distinct environment that will appeal to a specific kind of fitness enthusiast. The most significant reason to choose this gym is its reputation as a serious training facility with a supportive and friendly community. For individuals who prefer a gym with a focus on free weights and serious lifting, this is a preferred option. The feedback from members highlights that the gym is often bustling with a mix of students and locals, creating a high-energy environment that can be motivating for some. The fact that members are willing to help each other is a major positive, fostering a sense of camaraderie that is a key component of a good gym experience. The gym's cleanliness and organization are also noted as positives, contributing to a professional and pleasant training atmosphere. The variety of equipment is a key factor, as it means members never have a long wait to use machines.
However, it is important for potential members to be aware of the experiences of others. While many members have had a positive experience, a specific review details a highly negative situation involving a member being locked out without warning over a minor rule violation, the specific reason being that a few weights were not re-racked. The member noted a complete lack of communication from staff, the inability to get a refund, and a general feeling of being unfairly treated. This review, along with a follow-up, raised serious concerns about customer service and the enforcement of policies, suggesting that the gym's management may prioritize strict rules over customer relations. This is a critical piece of information for someone considering a membership, as it highlights the potential for a negative experience if all rules are not followed perfectly. While the gym may have a strong community feel for some, this isolated but significant incident suggests that the environment may not be friendly for all. It is recommended that a potential member weigh the positives of the equipment and community against these serious concerns about customer service and strict, potentially uncommunicated, policies before making a final decision.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best gym in the area. I've tried a few other gyms like 24/7 fitness, Lourdes... and this one's my favorite. There's a lot of university kids that go here so it is busy at times you wouldn't expect. Everyone is really nice and helpful - I've had a couple of guys actually help me with barbells/weights which is amazing!
June 10 · Monica AnnImagine you're in my shoes, you finally have acquired The willpower to go work out again. You've gone three days in a row and had one rest day. You're ready to get back in there and continue the gains. You go up to the door and swipe your card. The light flashes green yet the door doesn't unlock. Apparently you've been fined for some reason and locked out of the gym. I wiped down all of the equipment I used, I re-racked all of my weights, I seemingly followed all of the rules and I didn't talk to anybody and I kept to myself. No warning, no message, no communication. I'm locked out of the gym. I can't continue with my routine to keep up my gains. Now I'm officially losing gains because I don't have access to the stuff that I paid for. I will NEVER recommend somebody to come use this gym after tonight. You guys have destroyed the willpower that I acquired to go work out. Now I'm sitting in my apartment drinking instead. Hopefully tomorrow I still have the willpower to go find a new gym membership somewhere else, and hopefully they give me a refund for the equipment I wasn't allowed to use. I will come back here and update whether I was able to get a refund or not after I decided not to come here anymore.Update: So get this, apparently I accidentally left a few weights on 1 of the 8 or 9 machines that I used all together that night. That tells me that somebody got mad that they had to do some work when they clocked in for their shift. They immediately went to check the camera to see that it was me and that was it. No effort was made to investigate further in order to determine if that was a theme with me or not. They failed to surveil that I was taking care of everything else I was using. That just begs the question, how are you going to work at a gym and get mad that you have to move some weight around sometimes? Pathetic.I only got the gym membership here in the first place because I don't have time to go during the day. There are no workers there at night. I have been UNABLE to use the service I PAID for, My fitness efforts have been STIFLED, and I was UNABLE to acquire a REFUND because of their "3 day grace period" policy. No effort was made to reach out to me regarding my complaints. You could find better service in a Dave N Busters bathroom stall. They obviously don't care about their customers and they clearly only want your money. In conclusion: I would save your precious time, your precious resources and your oh so very important and precious WILLPOWER, go to a different gym with a friendlier environment that won't lock you out and fine you with zero communication or discernment.
June 30 · Paul ButtonWent thru every gym in the 607, and I have to say this gym the best gym around. Equipped with almost everything and anything you need even old school equipment. They refresh the gym and make sure it always stay up to date with the latest. If you don’t go to pump house you’re missing out.
February 20 · Almighty RobyLots of great equipment, always clean, 24 hour access, and even during peak hours you rarely will have to wait for a machine.
June 13 · Joshua FowlerApparently you'll get locked out if you follow all the rules and don't bother anybody. If I could rate negative stars I would. Me and my friends are going somewhere else because you wasted my time and made me look like an idiot standing outside a locked door. I wipe down the machines, I rack my weights, I follow all the rules but yet I'm still locked out.
