The instructors are known for their clear and kind guidance, providing helpful modifications and adjustments to ensure that everyone can participate safely and effectively. The flow of the classes is seamless, allowing for a focused and meditative experience. Practicing yoga outdoors adds a new layer to the experience; the sounds of birds and the feel of the breeze become part of the class, enhancing the sense of peace and tranquility. It's an opportunity to truly get away from the urban hustle without ever leaving the city.
Prospect Park Yoga offers a variety of services to cater to different needs. The main offering is its schedule of group classes, which are held at various locations within Prospect Park, including a primary spot near the Grand Army Plaza entrance. These classes are a fantastic way to join a community of like-minded individuals and practice together in a beautiful setting. The studio also provides private lessons, which can be an excellent option for those who want a more personalized experience. This service allows for one-on-one instruction or small, private group sessions, where you can focus on specific goals or get more individualized attention from an instructor. The flexibility to choose between a communal class and a private session is a great benefit for New York residents with varying preferences.
A significant feature of Prospect Park Yoga is its commitment to making yoga accessible. The studio is known for offering some classes for a very affordable price, or in some cases, even free, as part of community-sponsored programs. This makes it possible for a wider range of people in the Brooklyn community to experience the benefits of yoga without a hefty financial commitment. The booking process is also streamlined and modern, utilizing an app that makes it easy to find a class and secure your spot quickly. Exact location pins are often sent to registered participants, which helps to easily navigate the park and find the class location. This combination of affordability and convenience demonstrates the studio's dedication to serving the community.
The outdoor setting is, without a doubt, the main highlight of Prospect Park Yoga. The experience of practicing under the trees with a breeze and the sounds of nature is something that cannot be replicated indoors. For those in New York who spend a lot of time inside, this is a wonderful way to reconnect with the outdoors. The classes are held in different locations within the park, providing a new experience each time. Instructors, like Olivia and Julia, are praised for their expertise and ability to create a lovely and effective practice. The peace and tranquility found in these classes can lead to a lasting feeling of calm and stress relief that extends well beyond the session itself, as noted by satisfied customers. The feeling of being peaceful and stress-free is a powerful testament to the unique benefits of this outdoor practice.
The studio's use of public space for personal wellness is a great service to the community. They make it easy for New Yorkers to take advantage of their own backyard, turning the park into a wellness destination. It’s important to note that since the classes are held outdoors, they are subject to weather conditions. The studio has a clear policy for this, often crediting accounts for canceled classes due to inclement weather, which is a thoughtful and professional touch. The ability to book classes online and the clear communication about any changes further enhances the customer experience, making it a reliable choice for your fitness routine.
For New Yorkers seeking a refreshing and accessible way to practice yoga, Prospect Park Yoga offers a compelling and unique option. It combines the physical and mental benefits of a yoga practice with the calming and rejuvenating power of nature. Whether you are a local resident or a tourist passing through, the studio provides an opportunity to experience one of Brooklyn's finest parks in a new and meaningful way. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I attended a 10am weekend class taught by Olivia at 15th st entrance. It was really lovely and exactly what I needed. I’m in town on business staying the weekend as a tourist. Her practice was clear, kind, strong and included helpful modifications. With the ‘intro’ code, the class was only $10. The app was easy to use and I found the class in the park quickly. It’s so peaceful under the trees. I highly recommend Prospect Park Yoga.
July 12 · Katie TaylorJulia's class was fantastic! The moves flowed seemlessly, and she provided modifications and adjustments when needed. The outdoor setting was lovely. I'll take another class again when I'm in the area.
July 10 · Kim AskewI couldn’t recommend Prospect Park Yoga enough! An intimate and cozy yoga space, (that’s outdoors!) that provides the perfect space to be outside and practice healthy movement. A beautiful way to spend your evenings or mornings!
June 16 · Isabella CrescenziI loved teaching outside with Prospect Park Yoga. The Lincoln Rd location is right near the lake and has great tree coverage for the warmer days. Will definitely miss the community and hope to take a class in the future!
August 11 · Tiffany RatliffTeaching with Prospect Park Yoga has been a wonderful experience. The classes are small and focused, which allows for more personalized instruction and connection with students. It feels like a high-quality indoor yoga class — but nestled in the natural beauty of Prospect Park. It's the best of both worlds! The setting adds something special, but the real value is in the strong sense of community that’s built in every class.
