Orangetheory Fitness Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For fitness enthusiasts across California, from the busy professionals in Hollywood to the committed athletes preparing for their next marathon, the search for an efficient, effective, and results-driven workout is constant. Orangetheory Fitness on N La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles answers this demand by offering a unique, science-backed approach to group fitness. Categorized as a top-tier gym, fitness center, and provider of a complete physical fitness program, this facility specializes in High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) that utilizes heart rate monitoring to ensure every minute of your workout is maximized.
The core of the Orangetheory experience is the signature 60-minute session, which is designed to produce the "afterburn effect," scientifically known as Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). This means your body continues to burn calories at an elevated rate for up to 24 hours post-workout. The class is a dynamic blend of cardiovascular exercise on treadmills and rowing machines, and strength training using weights and functional equipment. This structured variety is crucial in preventing workout plateaus and is part of why many long-term members, some with over five years of membership, appreciate the format, noting, "If you’re like me and you just want to walk in a gym and not think, this is the place for you." The daily-changing templates ensure the workout is always challenging, engaging, and comprehensive, hitting endurance, strength, and power.
The professional coaching staff guides members of all fitness levels—from true beginners to advanced athletes—through the five heart rate zones displayed in real-time on large studio screens. This real-time, personalized data is a key differentiator, helping members maintain the optimum intensity level to achieve maximum results. While the program is built around this highly motivating and results-oriented structure, potential members should be aware that, like any highly popular group fitness concept in a major metropolitan area, class availability and specific studio policies, particularly regarding booking and cancellations, require proactive planning and attention to detail.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been a member at this studio for 5+ years. The staff is incredible and I feel so good after every class! If you’re like me and you just want to walk in a gym and not think, this is the place for you.
June 16 · Samantha KMy experience with them was so terrible I don't know where to start.- They don't believe in warmup so I actually ended getting hurt on the rower because the coaches don't bother to check on anyone. And I am not a beginner, so if you are, definitely steer away.- The strength classes are always waitlisted by 7 plus people so unless you are booking two weeks in advance, you can't book.- They changed their treadmills very recently to surface touch buttons except that the buttons are neither touch or buttons, so if you are running over 7 miles, good luck turning the treadmill off without falling.Because of all of these issues I asked them to cancel my membership which they ask for 30 days(which I am okay with), except that apparently that is 30 days until the next billing cycle which means I would have to wait for 55 days or so.When I told them that this is not what I signed up for, they canceled immediately. I signed up June 30th and one of the days they were closed for the treadmill setup. So I paid $189 for 5 days of workouts. That is a hefty price for mediocre level workout but it is what it is. AVOID at all costs.
July 10 · G BrecaniI had a great time here, everyone’s super friendly. I really enjoyed the classes but the agreements need complete work. No wonder why they keep closing locations, like the West Hollywood one. One of the issues I faced was not having enough time to complete work outs or have enough time on the treadmill. As much as it’s nice someone pushing you to do better, I’m overweight and have to go at a certain pace. I was gaining lbs there for two months compared to my little daily home workouts.I don’t recommend joining though, they keep a lot of important information out about memberships. Like you have to keep the membership for two months at least and cancel 30 days before hand. So if you cancel 10 days before you’re charged, they don’t prorate, they charge you the full amount of the next month. They change your membership without having you sign an agreement when you’re on the fence about it.And have the complete inability to accommodate any changes or work with you on a solution even if you told them you were looking to cancel over a month in advance and have the document stating the date of cancellation.Plus if you miss a class or cancel within 8 hours of it they charge you $15.Also, they don’t appear to clean their gym. The last few times I went there was this huge dust pile in the corner of the floor that kept growing. No wonder why phones aren’t permitted in the gym area.
July 20 · Vera HWow! The team here went above and beyond when I came for my trial. Such a friendly environment and not intimidating like many other studios, so huge shout out to Noah and Emma behind the desk. Would definitely recommend this place to all levels! Kaitlins class was AMAZING. I didn’t look at the clock once. You can very much go at your own pace whilst challenging yourself. The music was fab as well so it actually felt like a FUN class which is often hard to come by. 5 STARS ALL ROUND!
October 23 · Esme LonsdaleLove working out at this studio — it’s super clean, coaches are motivated and knowledgeable, and the front desk is beyond helpful/friendly. Truly one of the best studios I’ve been to in LA!
