This address places it in a well-known area of Philadelphia, making it a potentially convenient location for many local residents. Some reports indicate that the facility has been closed or is under construction, with a disorganized appearance. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you confirm the gym's operating status before planning a visit.

When considering Optimal Gym, it is important to weigh the available information carefully. The gym's advertised services—personal training, nutritional counseling, and strength training—are valuable for anyone serious about their fitness. However, the provided customer reviews introduce a number of serious concerns that directly contradict a positive experience.
The issues highlighted by former members, such as a lack of air conditioning in the summer, poor heating in the winter, and equipment that is in disrepair, point to significant facility management problems. The description of the pool as a "trash pit" and a "safety hazard" is particularly alarming and suggests a severe lack of maintenance. Unresponsive management regarding billing disputes and a messy, unorganized environment due to members not re-racking weights are also major deterrents.
The positive feedback is limited to the merit of the class instructors themselves, which, while a good point, may not be enough to outweigh the reported issues with the facility and management. The fact that the gym may be permanently closed or in a state of disrepair is a critical factor for any potential member to consider. The visible state of the building, as described in one review, suggests that the gym may not be a viable option for a consistent workout routine at this time.
In conclusion, while the core services of personal training and strength training are appealing, the overwhelming negative feedback regarding the state of the facility and the quality of its management makes it difficult to recommend. For anyone in Pennsylvania looking for a reliable and clean gym, it would be wise to exercise caution and thoroughly investigate the current status of Optimal Gym before making any commitment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went to check it out and the place was closed and appeared to have been either ransacked or under construction by the most unorganized crew every. Random bike visible in the window and blinds looked like a horror movie. I suspect it's permanently closed.
June 14 · EmilyGym is essentially falling apart and should be demolished. Poor heating, poor or no AC, the pool has become a trash pit. I signed up for a year long contract under a promotion and the management repeatedly incorrectly billed me for more than my monthly fee I agreed to in my contract. Multiple emails heeded no results or responses. The gym itself does not provide all new/updated equipment as advertised on their website, but an entire room of the gym seems to be strictly supplied with 30-40 year old equipment. When machines break, it takes ages to fix, and some of the cardio machines will only function with uncomfortable and unbearable squeaking. Many of the gym members who go late at night do not rerack equipment and leave messes, making it difficult to follow a workout planned in advance if all the free weights are scattered and you can’t lift some to put them back for the negligent members. When the pool itself was functioning it was so poorly chemically balanced that the over saturation of calcium made it impossible to see through the water and was a safety hazard if someone were to have drowned and their body not have been seen at the bottom (use at your own risk type facility). The pool itself, when it wasn’t filled with rubble, was too short for any productive swimming activities. From being unairconditioned through July to being too under heated to get a sweat going throughout the winter, with unresponsive management and sketchy billing practices, I do not recommend. Only positive here are the classes, and that is only for the merit of the instructors
August 31 · MauraGood old school local gym in heart of city. They do weekly passes at a good rate. Equipment is decent and the staff are really really friendly. The lady on the reception is super nice and helpful. She adds a really nice atmosphere to the place.
September 14 · adsie79I signed up for an introductory month, after the month I decided to go a different direction because the gym is awful. was automatically charged a $179 "fee" to "join" the gym. After trying to cancel months after realizing I was being charged the monthly amount for the gym they told me that I can cancel but will still need to pay for 2 more months. Listen, read the fine print because this place will screw you.As far as the services, the gym is empty so that may be a good or bad thing for you. The yoga class with Marty was awesome until she left without reason and I went to her replacement teacher who was subbing and it seemed that she wasn't even certified to teach yoga. I had really high hopes for this gym but was disappointed on every level.
March 22 · Katherine BouchardThis gym has a lot of options for machines and free weights. The equipment is older and outdated, but you can still do a lot here. Basketball court is small, but fun for shooting around. I've gone at different times throughout the day and week, but it is never super packed with people.
