What is worth choosing?
For women in Oregon, particularly in the Portland area, choosing a fitness center is about finding a place that feels like a second home. NW Women's Fitness Club offers a compelling case for being that place. Its most significant and differentiating factor is its identity as a women-only fitness center. This creates a powerful sense of community and security that can be hard to find in a co-ed gym. As one reviewer noted, the comfort of being "around mostly or all women" is a major selling point, providing a safe space to explore fitness without feeling self-conscious. This supportive atmosphere is a powerful motivator for consistency and long-term success.
The variety and quality of services offered are also a key reason to choose this club. With a wide range of group fitness classes, including popular options like Zumba, Pilates, and BODYPUMP, as well as specialized offerings like MELT, members have no shortage of ways to challenge themselves. The availability of personal training and nutrition consulting means that members can receive comprehensive support for all aspects of their health journey. The addition of both onsite and virtual classes is a forward-thinking feature, catering to modern lifestyles and proving particularly valuable for those who are "virus-conscious" or simply prefer the convenience of working out from home.
Beyond the workouts, the amenities elevate the experience to something more than just a gym. The inclusion of a dry sauna in the locker room provides a perfect way to relax and recover after a tough workout, while the light room offers a unique benefit, especially during Portland’s gray winter months. The fact that the gym is consistently described as clean, well-organized, and having a great staff further solidifies its reputation as a well-managed and member-focused establishment. The recent addition of a coffee/smoothie bar also adds a practical and social perk that enhances the overall experience.
In summary, NW Women's Fitness Club is a top choice for Portland women who value a supportive community, specialized services, and a comfortable, clean environment. It goes beyond the basic gym model to provide a holistic wellness experience tailored to its members. The combination of a welcoming community, diverse class offerings, and thoughtful amenities makes it a truly worthy investment in your health and well-being.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best gym for women in Portland! The staff is great. The gym is always clean and organized. They do a great job keeping the equipment up to date. The locker room as everything you need including a dry sauna and a light room! AND the members are also friendly. PLUS now there is a coffee/smoothie bar!
August 09 · Kari SI came to check NWWF out this week, and I'm staying as a member. I love the ability to choose between some Virtual and many in-person classes! Frankly, as a "virus-conscious" senior, Virtual is a big selling point for me....!!I appreciate the comfort of being around mostly or all women (I think there's one co-ed class?). And I appreciate that they take sanitation seriously! My experience of the trainers has been terrific. Thanks, NW Women's!
March 14 · Anne S. WagnerI'm writing this review for people trying to find a body positive gym. For those who are looking to develop a healing and non-judgmental relationship with exercise, I would not recommend this place. I mainly attended the classes, so this is based on that experience. Unfortunately, in almost all of them the instructors at some point mentioned losing weight, needing to exercise because they "ate too much," ideal bodies, not working hard enough in the class, etc. It felt like a very shame-based environment. As a person with a larger body, I did not feel comfortable to exist and move in my body at my own pace without judgement. The facilities and locker room are very clean and the front desk people are very nice, however I think some of the ways exercise is talked about here could be triggering for anyone overcoming shame around exercise and their body.
June 21 · Reynaldo MoonNorthwest Women’s Fitness is the best gym in Portland!! It has an excellent manager and staff, equipment, classes, massages, treatments, spa, locker room and cleanliness. It’s a genuine community in regards to clients. It’s a place that inspires fitness, wellness and self care. Highly recommend!!
August 25 · M AI am so grateful to have found this gym. The staff are so kind and friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you can feel calm and comfortable knowing that you have space to do your own thing in the open floor section of the gym, other patrons of the gym are kind. It's not loud at all - it's very peaceful here. The sauna and the aromatherapy room have literally saved me during a very stressful week, I look forward to visiting this gym again soon for the wonderful atmosphere and clean equipment. Thanks to the staff for a great first week as I explore options for my next gym.
