What is worth choosing
Choosing a gym is a highly personal decision, and for those in the New Jersey area, Nex Level Sports offers a clear value proposition. The most compelling reason to choose this gym is its direct appeal to serious lifters and athletes. As one bodybuilder with 20 years of experience noted, it is "pretty much your only option" in the area if you are looking for a gym that caters to bodybuilding and strength training without the high price tag of a facility like HealthQuest or the overcrowding of a place like Planet Fitness. The gym’s collection of "good stuff" and its ongoing renovations signal a commitment to providing a top-tier weight room experience. While some reviews point to issues with management, cleanliness, and staff, it is also important to consider the perspective of the dedicated clientele who find the equipment and lack of a contract to be more valuable than these issues. The no-contract, no-BS-fees model provides a level of flexibility and transparency that is rare in the fitness industry. This allows members to focus on their training without being locked into a long-term financial commitment. The added amenities, such as the basketball court, provide an extra layer of value for those who enjoy a variety of physical activities. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gym is horribly managed and staffed. The weight room is dingy and cheap (the treadmills screen reads orange theory). The basketball courts are dirty and have holes in them. Also the courts schedule is never updated and a lot of the times taken. Bathrooms are usually dirty and have an odd smell. As for the staff, the blonde lady behind the desk is usually on a smoke break. The guy with the mustache (Brayden) is rude and yells aggressively at the ninja kids. Seen him yell at multiple gym goers for not much reason to and overall not a good guy (my least favorite there). The owner, hunter, thinks he’s a real big tough guy. There’s also sometimes a random dog walking around???Overall, nex level is a wanna-be healthquest. They’re doing this big renovation that will probably lead to their closure. Spend the extra $$$ and go to HQ.
August 27 · Greg HayesJust signed up for this gym. Hunter, the owner I believe, is a nice guy and he’s actually a lifter, which is nice cuz gyms run by people who don’t lift are always awful. Lost a star because I just showed up to lift and it’s closed, apparently they changed their hours to for the entire summer, which one of the big reasons I joined was cuz they were open later on weekends, but now they close earlier than most… seems nobody knew about this as several other walked in unaware, and I lift every day and was never told or shown anything about shorter hours. also the locker room is pretty tiny and always smells like bleach. Pretty dirty too, doesn’t seem like they have anyone clean the equipment, but they do have a lot of good stuff, and are adding more machines. Price is kinda high, but at least there’s no BS fees, or contract requirement, and is commensurate for the area. I’ve been a bodybuilder for 20+ years and bottom line is, if you actually lift, it’s pretty much your only option. I’ve tried every single gym in an 15 mile radius and unless you wanna pay $150/mo plus fees for healthquest, or go crowd surfing at planet fitness for very basic beginner level machines, this is the place.
June 28 · ColinIf you're a powerlifter, this is the spot. For the last year, I have been lifting with just me. Nobody else in the weight room. I just got a membership at Next Level Fitness, and wow, I didn't realize how much I missed being around other LIKE MINDED people in the gym! Being by myself did have some advantages (like wearing whatever I want, picking the Playlist, ALWAYS having things tidy and neat) but I can easily sacrifice that for the right environment 🤣 This gym has a large young powerlifting community, and I don't mind lifting with them, because they're all focused on the same type of goals and not just frigging around causing a raucous. When they see you lift JUST ONCE and recognize the drive, and then proceed to ask you for a spot while they're lifting? It's pretty cool. My drive has significantly improved and I'm ACTUALLY motivated to get my diet in order to make progress. I've only been there a week, and I literally cannot wait to lift again. 💪💪 Also, this whole group also competes in the same meets I do, so THAT is going to be a powerful experience the next time I step on the platform!!
June 04 · JessicaI’m so glad Nex Level supports so many athletes and teams. The gym and Ninja setup are very impressive. Also great for getting some Ice skating at the rink. We’ve been to many sports practices, clinics, birthday parties and we always have a great time.
December 05 · Joseph LustigSigned my son and his friends up for summer camp this past week based on the description of the camp. While the camp price was relatively inexpensive, the advertising of what the camp entailed was false. They advertise the camp as “ninja warrior, field games, nerf wars, corn hole”. The mix of activities was why we signed them up. The only thing they did however was ninja warrior. The boys kept asking about the other activities and were told “it’s a ninja warrior camp”. Dont advertise other activities if you don’t plan on doing them with the campers.
