The cornerstone of KAIZEN’s reputation is the exceptional care and expertise provided by its lead coach, Ben. Ben’s approach is defined by an acute willingness to listen and an ability to skillfully modify routines to accommodate any discomfort, ensuring that exercise becomes a source of relief and strength, rather than pain. This commitment to listening and adapting is what turns skeptical individuals into dedicated, long-term clients—with multiple testimonials proudly reporting four years of consistent training. KAIZEN Performance & Personal Training is, therefore, the ideal choice for any California local seeking not just a workout, but a reliable, accountable, and expertly managed path back to a comfortable and capable physical state.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 14 years ago, I had just had surgery on my shoulder that left it feeling very weak and very sore. Not to mention, both of my knees that I had surgery on as a kid and later replaced as an adult were not so strong that made it challenging to get up and down off of the floor, going up and down stairs was a challenge, and everyday life was not very comfortable. They were a disaster to say the least.I knew I had to do something to help and a friend of mine, Tom, was training with Ben at the time and highly recommended I go see him. After dodging Ben’s calls a few times, I finally decided to give it a shot. I’m not an exercise person - my knees always hurt when I would do any type of exercise, and I never really stuck with anything in the past so I didn’t have incredibly high expectations until talking to him. What made me feel comfortable at first is that, with my knees, I shared that I don’t run. Ben’s response was “great, we won’t run.” and every time after that something has bothered me or felt uncomfortable, he adjusts it to an exercise I can confidently do.I would go as far to say that I hated exercise before starting but am at a point now where I really enjoy it. Dare I say look forward to it because of how much better I feel when I’m finished.I’m at the point now where my knees rarely if ever hurt, my shoulders feel great, my abs are strong, and I just feel really, really good. What has been most impactful for me is the accountability. I don’t do anything without accountability so having that appointment in my calendar, 4 times per week, has helped me stay consistent with exercise over the past 4 years - something I never could’ve imagined doing. If you’re interested at all in doing this, you need to meet and talk with Ben. I’m confident that you will feel listened to, heard, and better than ever after working with him.
August 09 · Molly O'NeilAfter school was finishing up in the summer of 2018, I felt like I was in a slump. I wasn’t motivated to do a whole lot, my weight was increasing, I was experiencing back and neck pain that I was seeing a chiropractor regularly for and I just wasn’t happy with myself. I knew I had to do something but I wasn’t sure what was the next best step. We have plenty of exercise equipment at home and I’ve followed all of the different workout tapes from the past but this time I felt that I needed added accountability of having an appointment to show up for. Just like with work. The first step I took was searching “personal trainers near me” on Google and Ben popped up so I reached out. Never working specifically with a trainer before, I was nervous that it would be too hard and that I would have to do things I didn’t enjoy such as cardio. I also wasn’t sure if I would get the results that I was looking for.Within the first week, I couldn’t believe how good I was feeling. I wasn’t hurting or crazy sore and my back and neck pain was actually feeling better! Now, here we are, four years later and I’m still going strong. I’m so much stronger and more capable than when I started. Ben has also been very careful with choosing the right exercises for me based on my neck and back. I’ve stopped going to the chiropractor as my back and neck pain is essentially gone.I was always worried about getting too bulky from strength training but, even as I’ve gotten stronger and my arms and legs have become much more toned, that hasn’t happened. If you’re unsure whether you should do it or not, GO FOR IT! Ben is there to help guide you along, encourage you, and motivate you. You’ll be so surprised how you feel after the first session and I have no doubt you’ll be hooked!
August 10 · Beth WaldfogelWhen I started, I was in my early 70s. My knees would ache all the time after having both of them replaced and I had just hurt my arm. I wasn’t very happy with my physical self anymore. I was tired of aching and wanted to improve my balance so that I wouldn’t fall over.I was looking for a trainer who would understand my age and where I was starting from but had tried one before who had me nearly fall off the treadmill so I was hesitant.A friend of mine, Jane, insisted that I come try a session with her so I hesitantly said yes and came in with low expectations. Those low expectations were of what was possible as I was never really consistent with anything in my whole life. Something in life would always pull me away. Now, after 3 years working with Ben, I’m able to do things that my girl friends aren’t doing. I can put the suitcase in the overhead bin, I can bend over if I drop something, I can stand on one leg and balance in order to not fall.I have a real level of confidence that when I’m walking, I’m not going to fall or trip. I'm confident that I can do the things throughout my day that I need to do.Ben has been incredibly helpful in understanding where I was starting from and has helped me feel stronger than I ever could’ve imagined at this age. I’ve never heard a negative word out of his mouth and am grateful for his support and care throughout the past few years. At 75, I’m as active as ever, no longer limp when walking, and my posture is great. Even my nurse was blown away by my age because of how I carried myself with my posture.All-in-all, I don’t think there is any better way to spend your money than to be healthy and if you’re going to do anything, you need to go see Ben at KAIZEN Performance.
August 10 · June Bell4 years ago, I had not worked out really ever before in my life and I felt like what I would consider to be a “blob.” I had no idea what a push-up or plank was and was basically starting from scratch at age 57.I was at the point where I knew I needed to do something but wasn’t sure what to do or where to go. I just so happened to run into my neighbor (Ben) who shared that he was a personal trainer and, after talking with him about where I was, he invited me into his gym for a consultation.I’ll never forget the day we had our consultation as we sat down and talked about his philosophy with health & fitness but more importantly, he took the time to really understand and listen to where I was coming from.I wasn’t in a good place mentally, physically, or emotionally. I wasn’t sleeping well or eating right. But I knew I was heading in the right direction after this conversation. My number one concern was not getting hurt and Ben did a great job of understanding my fitness level when I started and picking the best exercises that fit that. He’s always keeping an eye on my form and technique to make sure I’m doing things correctly and safely.Fast forward over 4 years later and there are times where physically, I shock myself with what I’m able to do. I feel healthier, I know I’m much more capable, and the best part of all is seeing someone who I haven’t seen in a while and they comment on how I’m looking. My parents have even told me they’re very happy that I'm taking care of myself after spending most of my life focusing on taking care of my family.All-in-all, Ben truly takes care of me. I found someone who understands and encourages me. He pushes me but in a healthy way where it makes me better. And thanks to him, I feel as good as I ever have. Thanks Ben!
August 09 · Tom PierceI have been active just about all of my life. Sports, exercise, running, walking. I’ve never really had to think about the physical side of my wellbeing. But just 1.5 years ago, I hit a wall. When you combine the challenges of Covid and getting older, it presented a new challenge I had to solve. Add that to the overall busyness of life and I continued to let that be my excuse and justification for not doing something.I made a conscious decision to focus on making health & fitness my #1 priority and begin training with Ben.From the first session, I knew I made the right choice in joining as I felt the “lift” both physically, and mentally, that you feel after a great workout.. The support and camaraderie among other members allowed me to realize that many others were experiencing these same challenges and that I wasn’t alone. And finally, the support and focus Ben helped me create has, without a doubt, helped me make these last 1.5 years incredibly successful.Right now, in my early 60s, I can say I look forward to my sessions with Ben and our amazing group! This is now just part of my weekly routine and because of that, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and my doctor is absolutely thrilled with how healthy I am. He shared that I’m healthier than most 40 year old patients he sees.If you’re interested in joining but struggling to take that first step, don’t delay. Life will always be busy and full of reasons not to do something but don’t let excuses deter you from taking the next step. You’ll find the benefits will far outweigh the challenges you experience and will be a tremendous benefit to your health & wellbeing.
