Heatwise Introduce
For many New Yorkers, finding a yoga studio that feels like a true oasis from the city's relentless energy is the key to maintaining balance and well-being. Heatwise, located in the bustling Bowery neighborhood, is that exceptional place. It's a studio that has earned a devoted following for its focus on creating a consistently hot, clean, and welcoming environment. As one local member enthusiastically shared, joining Heatwise was "the best decision I ever made for myself." This is more than just a place to practice yoga; it's a community where individuals feel genuinely "happy" and supported, a rare and valuable feeling in a city of millions. The studio's commitment to making every visit a positive experience is evident in its atmosphere and the relationships its members have with the staff and instructors.
The philosophy at Heatwise is centered on providing a high-quality hot yoga experience that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The studio's name is a nod to its use of infrared technology to heat the room to a comfortable 98 degrees, which helps warm the muscles and allows for a deeper stretch. For New Yorkers, who appreciate efficiency and effectiveness, this is a major draw. The studio's environment, combined with the professionalism of the staff, creates a sense of a "family," as one reviewer noted. This community-oriented approach is a significant part of what makes Heatwise stand out. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, you'll find a place to sweat, breathe, and connect with a supportive group of people who are on a similar journey.
Heatwise is conveniently located at 274 Bowery, New York, NY 10012, USA. Situated in a vibrant and accessible neighborhood, the studio is easy to reach via public transportation and is a familiar address for many New Yorkers. The area is filled with other local spots, including cafes and restaurants, making it a great place to stop before or after a class. While specific accessibility details were not publicly available at the time of this writing, its location in a well-developed part of the city suggests that it is generally accessible. Its proximity to other establishments like Whole Foods and various coffee shops also adds to its convenience, allowing you to easily integrate your workout into your daily routine.
The services offered at Heatwise go beyond just a single type of yoga, providing a variety of heated classes to suit different needs and preferences.
Group Lessons: The studio offers a range of group classes, including "Hot Yoga Feels Good™" which is an open-level, vinyasa-style class set to music. They also have a "Candlelit" version for a cozier vibe, as well as an advanced option. For those seeking a different kind of challenge, they offer "Hot Pilates" (mat-based, low-impact, full-body workout) and "Hot Sculpt" (a 45-minute strength training class with free weights). The variety of classes, each with a unique flow, ensures that no two sessions are exactly the same, keeping the practice fresh and engaging.
Private Lessons: For a more personalized experience, Heatwise also provides private lessons. These are perfect for those who are new to yoga and want to build a solid foundation, or for experienced yogis looking to deepen their practice with one-on-one guidance from an instructor. Private lessons allow for a tailored session that can address specific goals or physical needs.
Yoga Essentials: The studio offers amenities that are crucial for a hot yoga practice. They have mats and mat towels available for rent, which is a convenient option for those who are traveling or don't have their own equipment. They also provide complimentary cold towels after every class, a refreshing touch that is highly appreciated by members after a sweaty session.
The features and highlights of Heatwise are what truly make it a standout choice among the many yoga studios in New York City.
Consistent Quality and Cleanliness: The studio is consistently praised for being "very clean" and well-maintained. A clean environment is essential for a hot yoga practice, and Heatwise’s attention to detail ensures that members feel comfortable and safe. The use of infrared heating technology provides a clean and comfortable heat, which adds to the overall positive experience.
Welcoming and Professional Staff: The instructors and staff receive consistent praise from members. One reviewer "loved Erin's class" and others highlight the positive and friendly nature of the entire team. This supportive atmosphere is what turns a good class into a great one and helps foster a loyal community.
Thoughtful Amenities: While the studio does not have showers, it makes up for it with other thoughtful amenities. As one reviewer noted, the bathrooms are stocked with "nice products," which enhances the post-class experience. The availability of lockers and the option to rent mats and towels also add to the convenience.
Small Class Sizes: The studio caps class sizes to ensure there is generous space around each mat. This is a significant highlight in a city where space is a luxury. It means you "never have to stress being too close to your neighbor," allowing for a more focused and comfortable practice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I LOVE THIS STUDIO! I became a member here in January 2025, and it was the best decision I ever made for myself. I am genuinely so happy when I walk into the studio - and there are so many options for classes. I love all of the instructors and staff, it feels like a family! Would highly recommend !
June 12 · Lucile ClayThis is a great hot yoga studio - very clean, hot, and nice rental mats. I loved Erin’s class. The bathrooms had nice products too!
August 25 · Olivia MonahanBeen to multiple hot sculpt and yoga classes/studios, but Heatwise really stands out. Kendra might have been the best instructor I’ve ever had and the whole experience from check in to *nearly* needing to step out of the room was top tier. She really pays attention to form while making the environment super inclusive.I’m OBSESSED and can’t wait to try more classes/instructors.
July 02 · Angela SunI absolutely love these Bowery location- the front desk is welcoming and the lounge area is really nice! I love Hannah her practice is always challenging, intentional and gives me the grounding I love about yoga!
April 16 · Chantha ThachUsed ClassPass to book whilst visiting the city.Be aware - no showers, so you cannot wash and go about your business after the workout. For me it is a dealbreaker, hence not 5 stars. And It was a heated class as well, so you do get sweaty. Also don’t remember seeing any mirrors for checking correct alignment.Other than that pristine , welcoming stuff, pilates was beginner friendly, but challenging enough to maintain general fitness.Would absolutely advise for a slower day and a more relaxing work out, where at the end you can lay down and enjoy a cold towel on your forehead.
