What is Worth Choosing: Balancing Community and Comprehensive Education
Choosing a yoga studio in the Raleigh area requires evaluating the overall experience, from the daily classes to the professional training opportunities. Gratitude Hot Yoga Center presents a complex but highly specialized choice for North Carolina practitioners.
For the vast majority of students focused solely on daily practice, the experience at Gratitude Hot Yoga Center is overwhelmingly positive. Patrons describe the studio as a genuine "sanctuary" where they feel grounded and connected. The quality of the regular Group lessons and the teaching staff is consistently praised; instructors are seen as "knowledgeable and skilled" professionals who provide the truly valuable aspects of yoga—meditation, physical challenges, and the art of perfecting poses. For those seeking the holistic health benefits of hot yoga—improved flexibility, strength, better posture, and mood enhancement—this studio offers a top-tier, award-winning experience that many find to be a steady and nourishing part of their wellness journey.
However, local users considering deeper immersion, specifically the Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTT), should be aware of a significant contrast in reported experiences. While the program has the potential to be excellent, a lengthy review from a student who abandoned the Fall 2024 YTT program highlights serious concerns regarding the professional environment. The student reported that the course, despite a significant financial investment, deviated severely from its focus, culminating in sessions described as an inappropriate, hours-long "alt-right lecture" by the instructor and owner. The review describes the content as "conspiratorial and extremist," which "grossly overshadowed the truly valuable aspects" of the yoga practice and created an "unbearable" and deeply jarring environment for some participants.
This divergence in experience is critical for prospective North Carolina clients to consider. The studio excels in its core classes, offering a genuine, supportive environment guided by caring teachers—the foundation upon which its "Raleigh's Best Yoga" accolades were built. Yet, the report of unprofessional conduct, political insensitivity, and poor financial resolution within the advanced education program suggests a potential misalignment in values between the daily practice environment and the leadership's approach in specialized training settings.
Ultimately, local users should choose Gratitude Hot Yoga Center for its highly effective, alignment-based group hot yoga classes and the undeniable warmth of its regular teaching staff. Those interested in the professional YTT programs, however, are advised to thoroughly research the program's current curriculum and clearly establish expectations regarding the focus and professionalism of the content delivered by the owner before committing the substantial time and financial investment involved in such a comprehensive program.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gratitude Yoga is truly a sanctuary. The teachers here are not only knowledgeable and skilled, but they each bring a deep sense of presence and warmth to every class. No matter who is guiding the session, you can feel their genuine care and intention. This space is more than a studio—it’s a deeply personal, grounding, and welcoming environment where you’re encouraged to show up exactly as you are. Whether you’re coming to move, to breathe, to reconnect, or to simply be still, there’s something here that speaks to the soul.I’m so thankful that this place exists. It’s been a steady, nourishing part of my journey, and I always leave feeling more connected—to myself, to my breath, and to the moment.Endlessly grateful for Gratitude hot yoga!
May 18 · Joanna CI enrolled in the Fall 2024 YTT program offered by this studio. It was around $3000 for the 8-weekend course. I attended six out of the eight weekend sessions before I could no longer tolerate the environment. Additionally, I abandoned 26 out of 30 class passes I had purchased during that time. I invested a significant amount of money into an experience that fell far short of what I had expected. I asked the owner and YTT instructor, Roman, for a partial refund some time ago. I was offered an insultingly menial amount, to which I countered, and then never received a response. While I will likely never recoup my loss, I hope to spare others from similar heartache. The classes themselves were often very unstructured, which is to be expected in the yoga/holistic community, but there was a piece of it that made the experience insufferable. After the election, the owner, Roman, who was teaching the YTT program, became increasingly emboldened. Every weekend we spent was gradually sprinkled with more and more political talking points and buzz words, until it eventually culminated into the last class I attended. It was what I can best describe as a 4-hour long alt-right lecture in which most of us sat as sounding boards for the most ridiculous political rhetoric I’ve ever heard outside of a WRAL Facebook comment section. In addition to it just being inappropriate for the setting, the views were conspiratorial and extremist. You expect a little bit of woo-woo in the wellness/holistic communities, but this was beyond extreme. There was no true openness to discussion or debate and there was a quickness to disagree or pivot based on false or absent evidence until some of us eventually fell silent. Prior to this, I had tried to suck it up weekend after weekend, and get what I could of the course, but after that last session, I could no longer stomach it.A lot of the talking points weren’t new and are largely recycled and regurgitated from a certain subsect; it’s really the setting and the unnecessariness of it that made it so unbearable. While I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions, I feel that an environment like this—intended for personal growth and learning—should remain focused on the practice at hand. The shoehorned insertion of such political commentary hugely detracted from the practice, and the delivery of which was usually condescending and arrogant. It grossly overshadowed the truly valuable aspects—the meditation, the physical challenges, and the art of perfecting poses. Despite the benefits, I could not and cannot overlook this piece, as it was so terribly unpleasant and distracting and it so profoundly misaligns with my morals and values.Ultimately, this experience was deeply disappointing and jarring really, and I’m embarrassed that I spent the amount of money and sacrificed the amount of time that I did. The program had the potential to be excellent if it had stayed focused on yoga. I will not be returning to this studio.
April 21 · Megan AllenFinding Gratitude Hot Yoga has been nothing short of life-changing. I came in looking for a way to improve my physical fitness, but I found so much more—a community that feels like home, and a practice that has transformed both my body and mind. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms by the incredible instructors and fellow yogis. The owner, Roman, has created a truly special space where everyone is encouraged to show up just as they are. His passion for yoga and dedication to personal growth radiates through every aspect of the studio. The classes here are challenging yet accessible, and each instructor brings their own unique energy and expertise. The studio is always spotless, and the atmosphere is calming and welcoming. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, this is the place to start or deepen your practice. I’m so grateful I found Gratitude—it’s not just a yoga studio; it’s a sanctuary for personal growth and connection.
