★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Germantown, Maryland Dirty, Unclean, and Filthy Gym: I am an active member of the Gold’s Gym located in Germantown, Maryland. Point blank, this gym has been dirty, filthy and unclean for several months now. I arrive at 5AM, Monday-Friday.1. The women’s bathroom/locker room is dirty, filthy, and unclean upon entering and turning on the motion lights. The (3) sinks are always dirty and I have seen dead bugs around the sink. Shower stalls are dirty, filthy, and poor drainage. The entire bathroom/locker room floors are covered with visible grime, stains, dirt, trash, and have not been mopped for weeks. Slippery floors due to grease, spills, or improper cleaning can cause falls and injuries. The toilets stalls area is filthy, not flush properly, some toilets were out of orderly for weeks, and toilet paper left on the floor. This bathroom/locker room is a breeding grounds for bacteria due to the moist environment and the high volume of women using the bathroom/locker room. The lockers has a significant accumulation of filth ranging from dusting of debris, spills of substances, grease, and buildup dirt inside. Also, the locks on the lockers are broken and do not secure personal items properly. Again, the women’s bathroom/locker room is filthy.2. Water Fountain- you may see floating particles, poor cleaning, and many times out of order. In essence, filling up my water bottle from a dirty drinking water fountain is unhealthy and unacceptable.3. Gym Main Common Areas are dirty including filthy floors, and artificial grass/turf is not being properly cleaned. There are visible stains of dirt, and discoloration. The entire green turf is unkept, the area is messy, and starting to have an unpleasant odor due to poor and improper maintenance. The floors around the entire gym is often unclean, soiled, or covered in substances that make it noticeably unclean including dust, mud, grime, and other debris.4. Gym equipment- The gym equipment is a breeding place for harmful germs. The gym equipment is covered in dust, and dirt in the nook and crannies. The treadmills, ellipticals and all the stationary bikes are frequently cited with dirt, dust, and spills in the cup holders.5. The sauna is usually out of order and doesn’t get hot enough. These unkept and uncleaned gym equipment can contribute to the spread of infections, respiratory illnesses, and other diseases. Gyms can be a hub for the spread of colds, flu, and other infections if not properly cleaned. As nice and open as this gym may appear, it dirty and creates a negative atmosphere. Members are constantly cleaning up the gym early in the morning because the evening staff do not clean up before leaving their shift. I never seen a cleaning crew in this gym at all in 7 months since joining the Germantown location. All these unsanitary conditions are getting worse by the minute. The Germantown location is going down fast. Again, this entire gym is not properly cleaned, maintained, or disinfected to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria. There is no regular cleaning staff to clean the equipment and areas. If so, they are invisible and doing a bad job.Staff- morning staff Noah and Soon are very friendly. Whoever this new manager is obviously doesn’t care about the conditions of the gym. There is no way he cannot see how dirty this gym is and how importantly for members to thrive in a clean environment.Tanya
July 29 · Slay That Itch1 star for many reasonsDisappointed with Gold's Gym Germantown – Poor Maintenance and Unresponsive ManagementI was considering joining Golds Gym but after experiencing the gym for a day and hearing the experience my friend had, I will not be joining. My friend joined Gold's Gym in Germantown several months ago, initially drawn in by the newer-looking equipment and what seemed like a well-maintained space. Unfortunately, the reality has been far from it.While the gym does have newer equipment, it's a relatively small space and they don’t have a lot of machines to begin with. The bigger issue is that many of the machines are constantly out of order. There are always signs on them saying they need to be repaired, and when something breaks, it stays that way for weeks before it’s fixed. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to stay consistent and you can’t even rely on the basic equipment being available.Since she joined, the women’s locker room has been shut down twice. The sauna, which is supposed to be a standard amenity, has been broken for weeks now with no update on when it will be fixed. The sinks in the locker room splatter water everywhere – she even mentioned it to management and nothing was ever done. On top of that, the water filter has been showing a red light for over two weeks, and the water actually smells off – possibly because the filter hasn’t been replaced. They charge an $80 annual “amenity/service” fee, which would be fine if the amenities actually worked. But between the broken machines, non-functional sauna, ignored maintenance issues, and the questionable water quality – it’s hard to see where that money is going. To make matters worse, management doesn’t seem to care. There’s no sense of urgency or professionalism. As another review put it, this place feels more like a high school hangout spot than a gym – and unfortunately, the staff seem to be part of the crowd rather than managing it.If you’re looking for a gym with reliable equipment, clean and functional facilities, and professional staff – this isn’t it. Very disappointing.
April 08 · T BThe workers here don't care and do a terrible job (especially the afternoon and evening shift). Morning staff is slightly better. They never refill wipes. As of 5/1/25 there is none and it's been 2 days and going. Imagine the amount of filth on the equipment now.One of the mens urinal has been in maintenance for 4-5 months now. I dont know how stuff is broken for a gym that is one year old.All members have to pay $80 fee every year and this is the service we get? Get charged and nothing is provided. The A/C is held on 75° is absurd when the weather outside is in the 80s and you're working out too so you can easily overheat. One month the speakers stopped working too and they used a big JBl to compensate. All the sink spout in the mens bathroom spray everywhere. They dont work correctly spraying you if you pull it up to where it should be.Ive been very patient with all these issues. But enough is enough
May 08 · BillyI'm giving 2 stars for the gym itself, which is decent and has done the job for my sons. The negative review is about the billing. I canceled the membership for my son in early June and was then charged the annual fee in late June... for a year that was already cancelled. I spoke to the manager and he said I could send an email to the regional member services to see if they might have mercy on me. Ok, thanks for the help!
July 25 · Ed ChoyHow are we paying for amenities and we can't even utilized them. Sauna in the women locker room has been down for weeks now and no one seems to know what's wrong and when it's going to be fixed. Staffs have no clue of anything that's going on in the gym. Machines are getting destroyed and no one seem to care. I use to love this place but now it's a mess
