Choosing a gym in New York is a personal decision, and Equinox East 43rd Street offers a compelling set of reasons why it might be the right fit for you. While a reviewer did express disappointment regarding the availability of squat racks and the use of the workout area for classes, this feedback, while valid, must be viewed in the context of the gym's primary value proposition. Equinox is not a hardcore, powerlifting-focused gym; it is a luxury wellness brand that places a high emphasis on class offerings, personal training, and premium amenities. For those who enjoy a diverse class schedule, the value of the membership can be immense, as one reviewer noted that the price is justified if you are a "class person," effectively paying a fraction of the cost of individual classes at boutique studios.
The positive aspects consistently highlighted by members—such as the gym's cleanliness, the friendly and respectful crowd, and the high quality of the instructors—are significant factors to consider. The ability to go "almost anytime and do a full workout without waiting for equipment" is a major convenience in a city where gyms can be notoriously crowded. While one review mentioned outdated equipment and issues with certain products, the overall sentiment points to a well-maintained and highly functional facility.
Ultimately, what makes Equinox East 43rd Street worth choosing is its holistic approach to wellness. It provides a clean, well-appointed space with a variety of challenging classes and top-tier instructors. For the individual who wants to combine their workouts with a sense of luxury, and who values an environment that is both professional and stimulating, this gym delivers. It is a destination where you can not only achieve your fitness goals but also recover and rejuvenate in a setting that feels like a high-end spa, all in the heart of the city.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great gym and great crowd. It’s not perfect but it’s very good. You can go almost anytime and do a full workout without waiting for equipment which is nice. It’s clean, and with a decent crowd compared to other equinox locations. They offer a wide range of amazing classes, with great instructors as well. My.biggest issue would be the equipment itself is a bit outdated, and missing some of my preferred machines, that and the current shampoos/conditioners are really terrible and nothing like what they used to have.
August 10 · David CohenThis is not a serious gym. They have a nice area to work out downstairs with plenty of squat racks, but they don’t allow you to use them when there’s a class. There’s literally one other squat racks in the entire gym. It’s a useless gym if you’re trying to do lower body exercises. I’m so disappointed with equinox I’ve gladly canceled my membership and I’m joining Chelsea piers. I suggest others follow.
July 14 · Matt WasingerBased on the Google photos I had seen I was not expecting this location to be nice. To my surprise though the Equinox at 43rd St. is super clean, the equipments are quite new and there’s barely anyone working out there. Bonus points for having a turf, a sled and that whole functional training area (they call it “the playground”).Only giving 4 stars because they don’t have a calf raise machine, nor an weighted abs/core machine either.
August 29 · Andre RibeiroI love 43rd E; surely one of the top locations in terms of layout, cleanliness, and it doesn’t get packed or wait to shower.Cleaning ladies and the front desk are always welcoming, which isn’t the case in all locations.
June 03 · Huda AliI adore this location!! It is smaller but very well equipped. I am always blown away by how clean the floors are because in some other locations the floors aren’t as clean. It’s quiet enough and in all the times I’ve been there, it was not overly crowded. There’s a comfortable number of people who work out even when it’s at its busiest, I.e. you generally do not need to wait to use another equipment. Also, all the staff and trainers are so sweet and friendly! I dare to say it’s the best location ever and now labeled as my favorite gym.
