David Barton Gym Introduce
In the bustling and competitive fitness landscape of New York City, David Barton Gym has carved out a legendary reputation that goes far beyond a typical workout. It’s a place where the phrase "Look Better Naked" is more than a slogan—it's a philosophy. David Barton Gym is renowned for its unique, club-like atmosphere, a deliberate and successful strategy to make its clients not just go to the gym, but genuinely "WANT to be there." The gym's interior is a stark contrast to the sterile, brightly lit corporate spaces. With a dimmer, more dramatic lighting scheme, it creates a mood that is both inspiring and, as one reviewer noted, makes you "feel beautiful while you're there working out." This atmosphere is a key component of the gym's success, motivating members to return and continue the cycle of effort and results. It's a place where you can get a phenomenal workout while feeling great, translating into confidence that extends far beyond the gym doors.
For many New Yorkers, the David Barton Gym experience is about more than just a workout; it's about a lifestyle. The ambiance, which has been described as "Victorian punk" and a fusion of a "haunted house" and a "fancy interior designer," is designed to be an event in itself. This deliberate aesthetic helps foster a community of people who are serious about their fitness but also appreciate style and an unapologetic, confident approach to life. It’s this combination of hard work and a fun, glamorous environment that attracts a diverse clientele, from everyday New Yorkers to high-profile personalities. The gym's reputation for being a space where you might "work out next to Anderson Cooper and Daniel Craig" is a testament to its unique status as a fitness and cultural landmark in the city.
David Barton Gym is conveniently located at 4 Astor Pl, New York, NY 10003, in the heart of the East Village and steps away from Greenwich Village. This prime location is incredibly accessible for anyone in downtown Manhattan and beyond. The gym is situated directly across from the Astor Place subway station, which serves the 6 train, making it a very easy commute for thousands of New Yorkers. Additionally, it is just a short walk from the B, D, F, M, N, R, and W trains, providing a multitude of options for members traveling from different parts of the city.
The accessibility of the gym extends beyond its location. It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that the unique David Barton experience is open to all. The area itself is a hub of activity, with The Public Theater, Cooper Union, and an abundance of shops, restaurants, and bars all within a short distance. This makes the gym a perfect destination to integrate into a day of work or play in one of New York's most vibrant and artistic neighborhoods. The Astor Place location is not just a place to work out; it's a central part of a community that values art, culture, and individual expression.

David Barton Gym Reviews
I had a membership here for a year and it really was fantastic. They have all these classes that are not only amazing workouts but were so much fun. It's a bit dark in there but it's all about the vibe and club feel. You get used to it and think any other gym is just too bright. I recommend this gym to anyone who want to have a fun workout and wants awesome class perks.
May 08 · Nolis EspinalHere is my theory on what makes a gym successful -- the ability to make its clients WANT to be there. I'm talking about desire. DBG has hit the mark on this strategy. They do so by making you feel beautiful while you're there working out. This is achieved through their use of great lighting, and mirrors.I go, I work out, the lighting casts the right shadows in the right places, I feel like I look great, so I am motivated to return and continue the cycle. It's that simple.Corporate gyms fail at this not because they don't have the right machines, or enough treadmills. It's all in the lights. Make me feel good, and I'll keep coming back for more. And then, before I know it, the work I put in at the gym will translate into results outside of the gym.Working out next to Anderson Cooper and Daniel Craig? Just one of the perks of being a member ;-)
March 07 · Michael MereshenskyThis is a great gym if you're looking for many group training classes, great massages, steam room, several floors of machines (so you'll not be waiting for machines) and a clean environment. This gym is huge and has several floors. And ladies, it will be hassle-free workout for you at this gym :) They offer some really intense sculpting classes, as well as, the standard group training classes (yoga, spin, etc).
July 02 · Clarissa SilvaMost people think it looks like a club but the dim lighting actually helps me focus on my workout. I've been here for over a year and I'm happy. Membership is a little pricey especially when you add on the extras. Patrons are nice and everyone there actually workouts. It's not for everyone but it's a great alternative.
March 01 · Devonta WhiteUpon entering this upscale facility you would think it was more of a night club than a fitness center. That is the idea behind the design; all DB fitness centers are designed to mentally put you somewhere else, thereby making you look forward to your next visit. It's pricey but the personal trainers are great and the amenities are above and beyond the average facility.
