So, why is this gym worth choosing? As a local in New York, you have countless options, but a gym’s true value lies in its people and its potential to help you meet your fitness goals. The staff at this location, from the front desk to the personal trainers, consistently receive high marks for their professionalism and positive attitudes. Members feel that the staff is a significant strength of the gym, providing a supportive and encouraging environment. A dedicated and effective trainer, like Daniel, can be a major advantage, transforming your workout experience and helping you see real results. Furthermore, the accessibility features of the gym, such as the wheelchair-friendly entrance and restroom, demonstrate a commitment to being an inclusive space for all New Yorkers.
However, it's essential to consider all aspects before committing. Recent member feedback has highlighted some ongoing challenges, particularly regarding the maintenance and replacement of equipment. Members have expressed frustration over machines being out of service for extended periods and a lack of timely repairs. There have also been issues with amenities like hot water, which have been inconsistent at times. While the staff is often praised for their justification and positive attitude, the actual state of the equipment and some of the amenities has been a source of concern for many. Prospective members should definitely check the current condition of the equipment before signing up to ensure it meets their specific needs.
The feedback from the community also brings to light a feeling of being a lower priority compared to other locations, particularly those in Manhattan. This sense of being overlooked has led some members to actively seek ways to advocate for better management and corporate attention. While a gym's staff can be fantastic, the overall experience is also heavily dependent on the resources and maintenance provided by the corporate level. For a New Yorker, the value of a gym is directly tied to its functionality and reliability. While the staff’s dedication is a huge plus, the persistent issues with equipment and amenities are an important factor to weigh.
In conclusion, Crunch Fitness in Crown Heights offers a supportive and friendly environment, largely driven by its great staff. The presence of highly-rated personal trainers and the gym’s accessibility features are definite draws. However, it's crucial for potential members to be aware of the ongoing challenges with equipment maintenance and other amenities. It’s a gym with a lot of potential and a great team, but it has some operational issues that have frustrated its long-term members. Ultimately, your choice depends on what you prioritize in a fitness center. If you value a positive atmosphere and a dedicated staff above all, this gym may be a great fit. If you require a consistently fully-functional and well-maintained facility, it would be wise to visit the location and assess the current situation for yourself before making a decision.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1(March 4th-ish 2024 ) Been here 4 years .. space staff and location are really great . Staff has been great !!The management changed around Sep last year and since then a lot of the important machines have been falling out service, and not being fixed. Been constantly checking in with progress and the answer is always” they just came, they are looking into it, they are seeing, this location is next on the list ect “ . It’s been over 3 months of no real functioning leg extension machine just to name one. Adjustment Caps are missing as well.So I’d check on what works before signing up.(Just updating, from a month-ish ago some more machines Have fallen out of service ( a weight machine and 2 treadmills ) … a staff member said new machines are coming in another month or 2, but was told that that would happen in Feb … so yea, place is a mess atm unfortunately. Not sure what to do6th of August update … still waiting for the new equipment( been saying it’s coming any day for the last 8 months ) …. Stuff is working but still plenty machines that either don’t work or very difficult to use). Staff has been great, but they are over justifying the lack of timely repairs and delays in equipment.Update for Oct 23rd … same same .. plenty of machines are either offline or half working . The “new equipment “ replacing the half broken equipment promised is still nowhere to be seen. Going in 10 months of “yea it’s coming in the next 2 months for sure “.Wish I knew how to make this location more of a priority ( reminds me of when they didn’t have hot water for 7 months last year.Feb 7thStaff is still great! But non of the machines have been replaced .. and each week more fall in to “ out of service category” … they also just changed the shower nozzles and there is no pressure or volume anymore( at least there is hot water.Latest is new equipment ain’t coming till May time …Which wouldn’t be the end of the work if they fixed stuff.Would love to find out how to advocate for this location !!March 30th 2025 …Hot water has been out for over a week.. I don’t understand, one can hardly imagine this happening in a Manhattan location !!!!How does one advocate for this place?!?!?Corporate can’t be contacted and should step up !!! This hot water on and off thing has been going on for ages !!!!!Really disrespectful at this point.
March 30 · Gershon RiesenbergTamika at the front desk always greets me with a smile, she is warm, helpful and professional. Her positive energy sets the tone for my whole workout.5 STARS for my amazing trainer Daniel, he is motivating, knowledgeable and results driven. I’ve made real progress thanks to his guidance. Training with him has been a game changer.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
July 15 · Earline AyresCrunch Gym is honestly one of the most frustrating places I’ve had a membership with. First off, the equipment is always breaking down — and not just occasionally. I’m talking about multiple machines out of order at any given time, sometimes for weeks. It’s ridiculous. You’d think a gym this busy would stay on top of maintenance, but clearly that’s not a priority.Speaking of busy, if you go between 5 and 9 PM, good luck. It's overcrowded to the point of being unusable. Machines are either broken or occupied, the free weights area is chaos, and there’s barely space to move around without bumping into someone. There's no system to manage the crowd, and it shows. The staff? Honestly, they just seem checked out. I’ve seen people literally walk right in without scanning a pass or showing anything — no one bats an eye. It makes you wonder what exactly you’re paying for. When I’ve gone to the front desk with questions, it feels like I’m bothering them. No effort, no professionalism, just blank stares or some rushed answer. And then there are the fees. The advertised price looks cheap, but don’t be fooled — they’ll nickel-and-dime you with random charges, hidden fees, and sneaky annual costs. By the time it all adds up, you’re paying way more than you expected, and for what? Broken machines, long waits, and zero accountability from the staff?Crunch might have been a decent deal once, but now it just feels like a waste of time and money. I’d recommend looking elsewhere unless they make some serious changes.

March 17 · Anna LivingstonDecent gym, but horrible for a Crunch Franchised gym. I hate having to play “Where’s Waldo” to find the correct dumbbells I need because none of them are put back in their designated places. In fact, the “please rerack weights” signs are clearly suggestions and not rules because it certainly isn’t enforced. You never know when someone’s done with a squat rack or bench because no one puts the weights back and it’s not like the staff seems to care if they do.Dumbells left on the floor scattered make for easy tripping hazards. Oh but there’s a Dj that plays some days so that definitely makes my membership worth it (sarcasm).
