CrossFit NYC Introduce
In the fast-paced, demanding environment of New York City, finding a fitness center that offers a truly unique and supportive experience can be a game-changer. CrossFit NYC, located in the heart of the city, is far more than just a place to work out. It's a community-driven "box" (a term for a CrossFit gym) that has built a reputation for its powerful energy, welcoming vibe, and an incredible sense of camaraderie. For both locals and visitors alike, it represents a place of genuine connection and physical transformation. It is the first CrossFit affiliate in New York City, founded in 2005, making it the oldest active CrossFit gym in the world. This legacy speaks volumes about its commitment to quality coaching and a positive training environment.
The atmosphere at CrossFit NYC is often described as amazing. Visitors, even those from as far as Korea, have noted how super welcoming and kind everyone is. The sense of community is palpable; members are not just working out next to each other, they are actively supporting and motivating one another. The energy and positive vibes are a recurring theme in testimonials, with people expressing a deep desire to return for future workouts. The gym’s dedication to its community is what truly sets it apart. It’s a place where a first-timer will feel comfortable, and a seasoned athlete will find a home, all while being part of a group that celebrates progress together. This sense of belonging is a key reason why many choose CrossFit NYC as their fitness home.
CrossFit NYC is conveniently located at 50 W 28th St, on the 2nd floor, in the bustling Flatiron district of Manhattan. This central location makes it easily accessible for anyone in the city. The area is well-served by public transportation, with several major subway lines, including the R, W, N, and 6 trains, stopping nearby. For those coming from other parts of the city, the F and 1 trains are also within a short walking distance. Its prime spot in Midtown, near Madison Square Park, means that getting to and from your workout is simple and straightforward.
The entrance to the gym is wheelchair accessible, ensuring that the facility is open to a wider range of individuals. While the city's public transit system can be a challenge, the location's proximity to multiple subway stops provides a seamless travel experience for most. For those who drive, paid street parking is available, offering a practical, though sometimes challenging, option. The convenience of this location is a significant benefit, allowing members to easily integrate a high-intensity workout into their daily routines, whether they are heading to work or a social engagement.

April 10 · Jo Sung Hun조성훈This is a great CrossFit box in nomad/flat iron really easy online to book a class. The class I took today was really good. It was high level, but I really enjoyed it. Definitely a good place when you’re visiting this area.

June 26 · Mayer MayerElla is a great coach. She made sure to learn everyone's name and she provided encouragement and helpful tips along the way.Hyrox class was too difficult for me but it was very well organized. Would recommend!
March 30 · Reed ZimmermannExcellent facility as expected for the location. Lockers and bathrooms were clean and very comfortable. A lot more amenities that your typical Box but I loved the change of pace. I came in for an instructor guided HYROX class that kicked my butt. Community was very inviting and owner was nice enough to allow me to take the following class because I was late, which is not a curtesy offered much anymore. Overall great experience.

February 18 · Christopher CampbellI had a bad experience signing up but the staff were quick to make it right. I’m now in my third week and think I have enough info to leave a review. The space is big, roomy, and nicely equipped. The gym runs like a machine and you always know the workouts ahead of time etc. there are frequent classes and the hours are good. The required personal training sessions are good for someone new to CrossFit so that’s nice. The classes are doable for beginners but I have to say, it’s coach dependent. Some of the coaches (brian, ben, Nelson!) are amazing. They’re kind, approachable, generous with knowledge, and know how to make the class enjoyable for all levels. The other coaches I’ve found less helpful. I won’t call them out here by name because I am still an active member and don’t want the experience to get worse. In general, some of the coaches are not as kind to new comers. They are not proactive, don’t demonstrate the exercises, seem impatient or annoyed with beginners, and make scaling the exercises difficult and tedious. They just wander off during class, don’t check in, spend more time with the advanced members, etc. one of the coaches I found outright contrary and almost combative as I tried to understand the workout. So my advice is, definitely come, find the coaches you like, and stick with them to have a good experience.Buy your own Jump rope too, the ones they have there are funky.
