Choosing a gym in New York City involves weighing a variety of factors, and Blink Fitness Stuy Heights presents a unique set of pros and cons. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The AC being broken during a heatwave is just the most recent issue, but definitely not the first. This gym constantly takes forever to fix things. Machines stay broken for weeks, the bathrooms are a mess, there are leaks, and sometimes there’s not even running water. It’s a cycle that never ends. The first warning sign was when they started restricting access to machines based on membership type. Equipment that used to be available to everyone is now locked unless you upgrade, which just makes people stop using it altogether. So now those machines are sitting there, untouched, all for the sake of making more money. Now we’re stuck with out of order equipment, broken plumbing, machines you can’t even use depending on your membership, and no air conditioning while it’s over 90 degrees outside. But no matter what’s broken, they never miss a payment. That bill comes like clockwork every month. There’s talk that PureGym is taking over. Hopefully that means better maintenance and actual accountability. But honestly, it’s hard to say. This place feels like it’s being run for profit, not for people. Do better.
August 05 · Lyn V.Good gym. AC has been off for two months. It’s a choice. It doesn’t take two months to repair. They just don’t want to.They also ripped the handles off the windows and sealed them all shut, to ensure the upstairs stays a greenhouse.I think they’re running an experiment. If you’re strong enough, it’s a good gym. Until the city inevitably shuts them down.
July 26 · Brendan QuinnWhen you sign in for this gym you know it's going to be crowded, but you have to know that is going to be dirty and not well maintained, at least for the study heights one, there's buckets everywhere bc of the leaking celling, the machines are broken or old, and there is trash all over the place, overflowing bins and dirty bathrooms.I used to go to gates av before, and the condition of that gym was much better, the staff was cleaning and checking that everything was looking good, but on this one is a mess.
July 09 · Diseño BienestarI’ve been a member of this gym since it first opened, and it’s really disappointing to see how quickly it’s gone downhill in just two years. Today (7/27), I arrived around 6 PM — well within the posted hours since the gym closes at 7 — and found the doors locked. I called, and the receptionist told me they were short-staffed and it could be dangerous to let more people in. I totally get that things happen, but if you’re going to close early, there should be some kind of notice. That’s just basic respect for your members’ time.I just needed a quick cardio session — in and out — and was turned away with no warning. It’s really frustrating. This isn’t the first issue, either. Just last week, the AC wasn’t working and it was unbearably hot inside. There are also constant leaks from the ceiling, which is honestly a safety hazard. The staff are generally friendly, which I appreciate, but today’s experience was really not okay. Shutting members out early without any heads-up isn’t acceptable. I really hope management starts taking better care of the facility and communicates more clearly going forward.
July 27 · Poppi S.As everyone else mentioned, the AC upstairs is not busssin at all. They got these fans and it’s not doing nothing for anybody however, let me add this: they also took away all the wiping wipes and the trash cans. Now there’s only one wipe station in the upstairs part of the gym, so people are less likely to wipe the machines down and it’s hot and sweaty here and it’s just more inconvenient. I gotta go all the way across the gym just to get a wipe to clean anything and then the wipes thing is always empty 😭 but I do love the workers they are so kind. Gian Piero is super awesome and the rest of the crew 💗
