★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Joining Backyard Crossfit gym has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for both my physical and mental health. The workouts challenge me in all the right ways, but what makes this place truly special is the community. It’s such an inclusive and diverse space where everyone is welcomed and supported, no matter where they’re starting from. The coaches genuinely care and push you to be your best, but always in a way that feels encouraging, never intimidating.Since joining, I’ve noticed not only how much stronger I’ve gotten physically, but also how much better I feel mentally. Backyard has become a safe space for me—a place where I can let go of stress, clear my mind, and leave feeling uplifted. The energy here is so positive and motivating, and it’s given me a sense of belonging that I really needed. This gym is more than a place to work out—it’s a community that has truly helped me grow inside and out.P.S. My doggy loves coming too
August 14 · Jenniffer MartinezI absolutely loved my previous boxing gym but had to switch after moving to the eastside...& man, I am so grateful to have found a new home/community at Backyard. All the coaches are highly-skilled, encouraging, & able to adapt to any background in mixed-level classes.Recently, I started going to the non-boxing classes (glutes, core/pilates) as well & feel that I am getting a really well-rounded routine, adding in more strength training.Everyone is so friendly & it's truly an inclusive space; you'll see folks of all fitness levels, body types, and gender identities/expressions here!
August 15 · Sharon SuhrBEST trainers and community - Backyard has a super inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Trainers are also really knowledgeable and will meet each attendee with where they’re at. If there’s interest or curiosity for any of the classes, HIGHLY recommend giving them a shot. I love Jeneta and Alinda for boxing!!!
August 14 · Annie WuI'm old school, so I remember that old TV show "CHEERS", where the theme song is "where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came". That theme song slaps.Which leads me to my point, Backyard fitness/boxing isnt just a place where you work out (even though the workouts are top notch). It's a gym where everyone smiles when they greet you, where the owners and coaches are warm, sincere, and passionate, where they make you feel like home even though they're kicking your ass for the whole hour you're there. Its a gym that is inclusive, where you feel safe no matter who you are. it's basically the "CHEERS" of gyms.I mainly take boxing and I love every class, shout out to the coaches song playlists though. Jeneta with her old school hits, Alinda with her dope remixes, and Denny with the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack.Come and check the gym out for yourself though, you wont be disappointed, I promise you...
August 15 · jeffrey calimbasSooooo... I drank the Crossfit Kool-aid. After years of watching my husband practice this crazy sport, I finally gave in.I am not now, nor have I ever been a sporty person. I started coming to Mixtape for their yoga classes. Loved it. I then moved on to spin classes. Yes! I can do this. Now I'm doing the crazy WOD (Workout of the Day). I'm actually doing things in the gym I would have never thought I could do.The coaches are without exception knowledgeable, approachable, and encouraging. They modify and accomodate the workouts to your level of fitness. The facility is not like a typical chain gym, but it is clean and welcoming. But the NUMBER ONE REASON why I keep coming back is the sense of community that Coaches Sadie and Jason have fostered in their business. The inclusivity and comaraderie and overall lovefest I feel here are everything. Having a cruddy day at work? Come to the box. Relationship woes? Come to the box. Too many tamales? Come to the box. You'll sweat. You'll laugh. You'll feel better. Did I mention this is a dog-friendly spot? Seriosuly... come this box!!!
