★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently joined the 92NY and the staff is always alert and friendly. During my trial period, I got turned around in the building and came late for class (which, as someone who hates walking in late, was overwhelming for me). Georgia at the front went above and beyond to ask someone else to cover the desk and escort me to the spin room. She is such a ray of sunshine and it is so nice seeing her whenever checking in. It was her kindness that encouraged me to stay, try the class, and join instead of walking away. She is a superstar and deserves all the praise!
July 24 · Katrina SoutherlandI was a member of this gym for 5 years, and I didn't know what a crappy experience it was until I moved out of the neighborhood and joined a different gym. Talking to old school members here, they said height of the place was over a decade ago, and I believe it. They just don't have enough equipment, or quality equipment, the layout of the place is annoying, and the men's locker room is full of loud young staff members who just do whatever they please. I would never recommend this place, for the price. Go somewhere else.
June 14 · Bob BrianI’ve been a member of this gym for almost a year and I’ve been collecting this feedback as a last warning for the management before canceling my membership.I really loved the instructors from this gym as many of them have been working there for almost 20 years giving incredible quality workouts with the limited tools provided for the class. With all my respect to incredible work the trainers do, I think this place is falling apart. The AC situation in summer is very bad, the bags in boxing room were taken down for renovation and not placed back for more than a month now, there is not enough gear for people taking the classes so you better be first one to come. The most striking thing to me is that group classes in mack gym constantly being interrupted by private trainers/ gym members working out on in the same room. It’s unbelievable that people who work there don’t pay respect to a group of 40 people trying to figure out what trainer is saying and actually their own collegues . On top of that, the management doesn’t include new classes and not sticking for innovative approaches which results in that class are same is probably 10 years ago. Last but not the least, they removed low latin class and fired an incredible trainer who led this class for no reason. Honestly, this class was something that made me keep the membership and now I’m questioning my choices similar to other people who used to come there. I hope this is going to be addressed and if not, I’m out. And I know I won’t be the only one.
August 07 · Victoria ZyulinaThis is not the place for anyone looking to train efficiently or focus on their workout without being interrupted or made uncomfortable. Equipment is dated, and the energy is just… strange. Definitely not recommended if you’re seeking a straightforward, respectful workout environment.
June 30 · Tia JThe low rating is the result of my learning last week that a phenomenal instructor would no longer be leading classes at the 92Y. It’s unbelievable and frankly unfortunate that one person’s complaint could lead to the loss of such an extraordinary teacher. His Latin Low Impact class is the favorite of so many of us. Endorphins would be flying every class. We’d leave drenched in sweat but feeling euphoric! I’ve taken both Latin Low as well as his strength building classes for years and he has often needed to emphasize the importance of safety- particularly given that his classes frequently seem to be oversubscribed. Never has his tone or behavior been inappropriate! Many of us miss him dearly and some are considering cancelling their 92Y membership! PLEASE BRING HIM BACK!!!Val J
