★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love having such a great yoga studio so close to me! Such an amazing group of people. I attended my first one using the first class free coupon and it was such a good way to have a trial. I loved it so much I had to come back. My favorite yoga I've ever been to! :)
September 17 · Alita BeachMaddie Adams is one of the best yoga teachers in the Portland area, especially for those who want ongoing support for their yoga practice. She is generous and thoughtful in how she presents each class. Beginners to advanced students are able to discover their own unique level of balanced effort for optimal learning. She focuses in depth on the full range of what yoga offers, beginning with a short chanting practice, followed with poses or Hatha yoga in all four positions (standing, lying down, sitting, moving), integrating mindfulness meditation throughout the practice; which borders on a more Vinyasa flow, maintaining connection with the breath during the poses and transitions between poses. The classes are 1.5 hours long, so there is enough time to end with breath practice, or pranayama. Maddie manages to integrate all this by offering a seasonal Ayurvedic theme that awakens a soft spiritual and philosophical perspective, enhancing the relationship between yoga on the mat and yoga in daily life. While we stretch and strengthen our muscles and increase our agility and balance, we learn to embody the teachings of yoga so our heart-minds open to the full range of human goodness: a more equanimous, kind, generous, compassionate heart with a more discerning, concentrated, clear, and open mind. Maddie's students are given the gift of yoga, the union of heart, body, mind, and spirit. Gratitude is the result.
