August 22 · Dayvon BrightI’ve been going to the West Philadelphia Y for several years, mainly for lap swimming, but also sometimes for yoga.I have an invisible disability and occasionally need accommodations. The customer service via the website/email has been amazing with getting the help I need in this regard. I have also seen several people with visible disabilities be treated with respect and accessing the facilities. The new YMCA 360 app makes it easier to see the best times to swim. They include how many lanes are scheduled to be available for different activities, so you can anticipate if it may be especially busy or noisy.I’ve also been really impressed with the swim instructors who are sometimes teaching kids and teens while I am doing laps. They seem to make it so fun and engaging and there is a real community spirit.Overall, this Y is wonderful and the staff are so lovely! I’m so glad to live nearby.
July 14 · BeaI usually use the ymca in Middletown de but I was up this way and figured why not ! There is so many things to do here it’s awesome! I used the weights and went swimming with some really cute guys i met in the store a few days ago. We love hanging out together. Me and the frat boys work out all the time and we always work out shirtless because we get sweaty. The locker room was really nice and clean it even had a slight hint of cologne smell which is better than smelling sweaty clothes. There was a huge spider web 🕸️ in the lobby we almost walked right through the web. It looked sticky and the spider was creepy looking. The staff told us they would call an exterminator ASAP we left we wanted nothing to do with that big web. If they take the web down, we will definitely be coming But if the Web is still there next time we return, we will throw a tantrum on the ground with the toddler! FRAT BOY GANG FIR LIFE!!!
May 06 · Big web 45I’ve been to better places for less. For the price of the membership I expected to have the best gym ever but it’s really not worth it, I only subscribed because it’s a few steps away from home. They focused too much on the amenities rather than focusing on what really matters, the weight room. Their weight room is way smaller than it looks on the pictures and there is very little room to walk in between the equipment and the people working out, they only have the bare basics and a whole bunch of treadmills that makes it feel more like a hotel gym, plus it’s always hot in there and they kick you out 15 minutes before closing time. Also they will kick you out an hour early without notice during the summer so don’t come in thinking you’re getting a workout in before they close.
June 14 · Dily SantosStaff are friendly, easy going. Fitness instructors are prepared, personable. Facility is kept clean, amenities are excellent and volunteers are knowledgeable & interested in the people they serve. Would have kept my membership longer if not for relocation.
