The Rec Room Introduce
For families in and around Indianapolis seeking a dynamic and positive environment for their children to grow, The Rec Room stands out as a local institution. Since its establishment in 1999, this gymnastics and tumbling facility has been dedicated to serving the community, providing a fun and supportive space where children can build strength, flexibility, and confidence. With a focus on recreational gymnastics rather than intense competition, The Rec Room emphasizes the joy of movement and personal achievement. The facility is a place where every child is encouraged to be a star, celebrating their accomplishments with a unique tradition of ringing "The Bell" for a job well done. This non-competitive approach allows kids to feel confident in their abilities and to develop at their own pace.
The Rec Room has built a reputation for its commitment to creating a safe and caring atmosphere. Their mission is to foster healthy, strong children through the challenging yet rewarding sport of gymnastics. Over the past two decades, they have welcomed thousands of kids, and a new generation of students is now learning from the very coaches who taught their parents. This legacy speaks volumes about the lasting positive impact The Rec Room has had on the Indianapolis community, making it a trusted choice for parents. The coaches' genuine passion for what they do is evident and is a key part of the positive experience passed on to the children.
Beyond the mat, the Rec Room has become an integral part of many local families' routines, offering a consistent and reliable space for children's activities. The sense of community is strong, and parents are encouraged to be involved, witnessing their child's progress and sharing in their excitement. This family-oriented philosophy ensures that The Rec Room is not just a place for gymnastics, but a true home away from home for many young athletes. Their long history of service and dedication makes them a pillar of the Indianapolis recreational community.

---The Rec Room provides a variety of services tailored to meet the needs of different age groups and skill levels. All classes are offered in 8-week sessions, with each class meeting once a week. Class sizes are intentionally kept limited to ensure that every student gets ample individual attention and participation time without having to wait.
45 Minute Classes: Designed for younger participants, these shorter classes are perfect for introducing children to the fundamentals of gymnastics in a format that holds their attention and matches their energy levels.
Gymnastics Classes: These classes offer instruction on a range of disciplines, including tumbling, balance beam, uneven bars, and vaulting. Students are placed in classes based on their skill level and are evaluated each session to track their progress.
Pre-School Classes: Specifically for pre-school-aged children, these classes are a great way to introduce early motor skills, coordination, and a love for physical activity. The 45-minute format is ideal for this age group.
Recreational Gymnastics: This is the core of The Rec Room’s offerings. The program is non-competitive, focusing on skill development, strength building, and fun in a pressure-free environment. It's suitable for both boys and girls aged 2 and up.
Tumbling Classes: These classes focus specifically on tumbling skills, which are essential for gymnastics and other sports. They are designed for various skill levels and help students master cartwheels, handstands, flips, and more.
The Rec Room offers several key features that set it apart and make it a highly regarded local business in the Indianapolis community.

This simple yet powerful gesture provides immediate, positive reinforcement and builds a strong sense of achievement and community.
Experienced and Passionate Coaches: The coaches at The Rec Room are not only experienced but also genuinely love what they do. This passion is passed on to the students, creating an enthusiastic and encouraging atmosphere that makes learning fun.

The Rec Room Reviews
We love the Rec Room! Cathy and Kristen are the best and work really great with my son, who's a giant ball of energy, movement, and talking. The classes are very affordable and a bonus for me is how close they are to our home!
July 05 · BRITTANY HUDNUTAvoid this place if you value your child’s well-being. Our experience here was appalling, and we left after only two sessions.Kathy, the owner, showed an alarming lack of kindness and empathy, even going so far as to repeatedly tell a small child that he “didn’t smell good”—completely inappropriate and damaging to a young child’s self-esteem. She was outright rude and harsh toward my son, showing no compassion whatsoever. She brushes off children’s tears with a dismissive, “you’re fine, you’re ok,” disregarding their feelings entirely. When my 7-month-old started crying, Kathy even told my 3-year-old, “First you were crying, now your brother is crying. You need to stop crying and teach him how to act.” This is no way to treat any child. For the sake of your children, avoid this toxic environment. There are far better places where they will be treated with respect and care. Find a safer, healthier option elsewhere. We’re currently loving the experience at Dana Mannix Gymnastics just down the road, there is hope- just not at this place or with Kathy.
