What is worth choosing
For those in Virginia who are looking for a fitness studio that offers a vibrant community and unique workout experiences, The MVMNT Society in Alexandria is an excellent choice. The reviews from real customers provide an authentic glimpse into the studio's strengths and areas for growth. The workout classes themselves are consistently praised as "solid" and "high energy." The Bounce class, in particular, is noted as a "cool lil wake up" with "ab & glute integration." The variety of class formats, from the high-impact Bounce to the more controlled Mat Sculpt, ensures that members can find a workout that suits their needs and preferences, preventing boredom and a workout plateau. The staff, especially the front desk team, are frequently described as "super welcoming" and helpful, with one customer noting that the front desk girl "was very welcoming - I believe her name was Sabrina - and noticed I was new to the studio and was helpful." This personalized attention for newcomers is a significant plus. The studio’s commitment to an inclusive environment, including wheelchair-accessible facilities and gender-neutral toilets, shows a modern and thoughtful approach to serving its diverse clientele. However, as some reviews suggest, the studio’s journey towards perfect inclusivity and personal connection is ongoing. A couple of reviewers pointed out instances where instructors, while being excellent at their craft, did not greet them or ask their name, which left a "weird taste." This constructive criticism highlights that while the workouts are top-tier, the studio is actively building its community, and the personal touch is a work in progress for some instructors. Despite this, the overwhelming sentiment is positive, with customers expressing a deep love for the classes and a commitment to returning because the experience is "so fun." The MVMNT Society offers a compelling blend of challenging workouts, a supportive front desk team, and a unique class variety that makes it a worthwhile destination for fitness enthusiasts in the Virginia area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m on tour celebrating my double ACL anniversary and landed on this studio to try Bounce for the first time. I booked this studio via class pass and was a bit hesitant because the pictures on google and the class pass didn’t give me “Black Girls Go Here” vibes, but I tried anyway because you never know. HOWEVER.Okay so boom: I took a BOUNCE Class with Mary on Monday January 27th at 8:15 AM.The studio was super cute and the actual class was a solid workout and a cool lil wake up. It’s a different type of workout and I enjoyed the ab & glute integration as well. It’s high impact, high energy BTW.Walking in, the front desk girl was very welcoming - I believe her name was Sabrina - and noticed I was new to the studio and was helpful. She told me the instructor Mary was in the studio and I can go in there. She also told the instructor I had arrived. (That’s important)I docked stars because I arrived 15 minutes early into the studio and the instructor Mary failed to acknowledge me as I sat in the studio stretching waiting for the class. She spoke to the next girl that arrived so l said something about it because I thought it was weird. She cleared it up (“oppsie” energy) and then we went on to have class. After the class, as always, I left my review on class pass and noticed an additional review that made me gasp. Another African American woman left a review saying she wasn’t greeted. Whoof! I can’t speak for her experience, but I resonated with it and rememberrrrrr, it’s lowkey reflected in their marketing. 🤯Overall, my first time doing the bounce experience was cool from a workout perspective. However, from an energy and vibes perspective - the lack of greeting left a super weird taste in my mouth especially considering 1) I was a brand new person to the studio + 2) I'm an instructor myself and it's a standard to greet everyone when they arrive to class.Yikes.
January 27 · Radiance BasdenI've been taking a few classes over the past few months (changed named for anonymity). I really love the classes- the front desk girls are always nice and super welcoming. Energy in class is always good, even when people are bit tired. I really enjoy the morning classes particularly, the instructors usually have such a great attitude. I've taken a few afternoon classes but not always convenient for me as I live far away.My only caveat is that l've taken a few of Melissa Shute's classes. She is really intense and high energy which really works so well for me. However, I’ve taken probably 10 of her classes now, and not once has she introduced herself or asked my name. I feel like all of the other instructors i've had have made an effort to at least know my name.Sometimes the class doesn't feel welcoming and I feel like my instructor doesn't want to interact with anyone except the few people she knows in the class.Really love this studio and will continue to go because it's so fun, but felt the need to make a review. I really honestly only want to give my feedback as constructive criticism, as I really do enjoy most of the classes here.
July 02 · SaraI just love this studio and bounce, in particular. It’s challenging but fun and appropriate for all fitness levels. MVMNT has great quality instructors and class formats that you won’t find anywhere else. Love it all.
February 23 · Jen BuritaI absolutely love MVMNT! From the moment you walk in, the energy is contagious, and the staff is so welcoming and encouraging. Jillian, the new owner, is a certified Pilates instructor and brings incredible expertise and energy to the studio. The classes are a fantastic mix of mat-based Pilates, strength training, and cardio, with an attention to detail that makes every session feel personalized and effective. I always leave feeling stronger and more energized. The space is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for a great workout. They even have a partnership with Bala.If you're looking for a studio with knowledgeable leadership and positive vibes, MVMNT is the perfect choice. Highly recommend checking it out!
December 06 · Calesha MitchellI did a class here as a drop-in while I was in town visiting a friend & I am so glad I tired it! Admittedly, I was a tiny bit nervous because I hadn’t worked out in 3+ months but I was able to scale all the moves & workout to my pace while still feeling like a part of the class. The instructor was very encouraging & I even got to meet the owner who was so sweet & kind and took a genuine interest in my concerns & guided me with weights & movements. I wish we had a studio like this where I live.
