South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the expansive and often overwhelming fitness landscape of New York City, finding a gym that is truly dedicated to a specific discipline and provides a high-quality, focused experience can be a challenge. South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club (SBWC) is a beacon for those serious about strength training. This is not your typical commercial gym with endless rows of cardio machines. Instead, SBWC is a sanctuary for lifters, designed from the ground up to support and enhance the practice of Powerlifting and Olympic lifting. The gym operates on a coached session model, where members receive hands-on guidance from experienced professionals in a small group setting. This unique approach ensures that every member, from beginner to advanced lifter, receives personalized attention to improve technique, build strength, and achieve their goals safely.
What sets SBWC apart is its exceptional ratio of equipment to members. As a review highlights, the gym boasts "almost a dozen power racks" and multiple platforms, along with a vast collection of dumbbells and various implements for HIIT workouts. This means you will rarely, if ever, have to wait for a rack, allowing for a seamless and efficient workout. Beyond the lifting floor, the gym features a dedicated meditation room and an upstairs area with a variety of "fitness gadgets" and cardio machines. This comprehensive setup ensures that while the core focus is on strength, members can still pursue other aspects of their fitness journey. The atmosphere is consistently described as friendly, relaxed, and supportive, completely free of ego or pretense. This community-driven environment is a key factor in the gym's success, with members genuinely wanting to help each other get stronger. For New Yorkers who are tired of crowded, impersonal gyms and are looking for a place to truly invest in their strength and well-being, South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club offers an unparalleled experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very solid weightlifting gym. Basically it's coached sessions where there are one or two coaches helping normally around four to eight people with their lifts. The programs are mostly powerlifting or Olympic lifting, but I'm given to understand you can customize your program if you want to.Compared to any other gym I've been to, the equipment to attendance ratio is off the charts. They have almost a dozen power racks on the first floor, and several platforms besides. They have a huge set of dumbbells in a different room, and a variety of implements for doing HIIT workouts. Upstairs they have a meditation room and also a substantial collection of what I would call fitness gadgets (various sorts of weight machines, rowergs, skiergs, treadmills, etc.).If I had to pick a couple downsides: the price is a bit high compared to my understanding of what other gyms charge. I view it as worth it to have the coaching and to not have to wait for a rack. Honestly I wouldn't want them to reduce it, because I don't want it to get crowded. The other downside is that the hours are not as extensive. You can't just come and work out on your own at 8:30 or 9PM if you want to, you need to sign up for a session, and the last one is at 730PM on the weekdays, with none in the evening on the weekend. All in all, even with these drawbacks taken into account, this is the best gym experience I've had. Highly recommended.
May 12 · James ASBWC is the best gym I've ever been a member of. I learned more from their team in 3 months than at any other point in my weight-lifting journey and turned a huge corner in my fitness. It's also a friendly, relaxed and supportive community. Everyone is there to get stronger and help you get stronger, without ego or pretense. The club has top notch equipment and just what you need to push yourself safely. I could not recommend South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club more.
January 30 · Andrew EI joined this gym 6 weeks ago and it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Getting stronger is helping to reduce daily chronic pain I was living with, the trainers are knowledgeable and helping me learn more about how to lift safely and successfully, and I feel great. Excited to continue growing my fitness here at SBWC
February 24 · Susanna JivotovskiWithout question the best gym I have ever been a member of. Every member receives one-on-one attention from the entire staff who are experts not just in weight/power lifting but every aspect of strength training and fitness. The facilities are superbly outfitted and the atmosphere is warm and supportive. Book a tour and let Paulie and Becca show you around. You will not be disappointed.
February 06 · Luke ReynoldsThis gym is fantastic! The coaches and the owner are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely supportive. The equipment is top-notch, and they even offer 3D body scanning to track your progress, which is a great motivator. As a beginner, the equipment can feel intimidating at first, but with the guidance and encouragement from the coaches, you'll feel confident and comfortable in no time. Highly recommend!
