A core offering is their distinctive Somatic Class, designed to teach students how to stay with sensation and consciously release it, with one reviewer describing the experience of moving and breathing in complete sync with others as "awe inspiring" and "transformative stuff." This is a place committed to community care, not just competition, making it a uniquely vital part of the Illinois wellness landscape.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Sanctuary Studios is an amazing, hidden treasure. I signed up for a 9 am class during the week and happened to be the only person. Instead of cancelling, Abigail taught a class just for me, targeted at my needs. It was exactly what I needed that day to alleviate my back pain and tightness. It’s a beautiful space, with incredible instructors! I’d highly recommend anyone to check it out!
April 04 · Hannah HowardI recently had the pleasure of experiencing two classes at Sanctuary Studios, and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I stepped through the front door, I was greeted with warmth and kindness that will immediately make anyone feel at ease. The warmth is also evident in Sanctuary’s unwavering dedication to inclusivity and making every BODY feel valued. The instructors not only excel in guiding students through their practice with expertise and encouragement but also ensure that everyone feels comfortable and supported regardless of their skill level or physical ability. The studio's commitment to everyBODY is clearly reflected in the tribe that gathers to practice together- a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and body types. The emphasis on breathing together (often an afterthought at many studios) as a collective fosters a profound sense of unity and connection among practitioners. This was on full display in the Somatic Class that Sarah Stevens (founder) held that I was lucky enough to attend. I can't even put the proper words to it... Around 30 individuals all together, moving… breathing… BEING, in complete sync and harmony. It was awe inspiring and I choked back tears of joy and relief in the first 15 minutes of practice. It felt like an inner home was created that I've never accessed before. Transformative stuff. What sets Sanctuary apart is their innovative pay-what-you-can model, which ensures that yoga is accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. It's evident that Sanctuary goes above and beyond to foster a sense of community and acceptance, creating a truly welcoming space where everyone can thrive. Their line up of teachers are some of the best in our area… and their commitment to being an open space even when class is not being held is something more studios should look at doing. I highly recommend Sanctuary Studios to anyone seeking a nurturing environment to deepen their practice and connect with like-minded individuals. Sanctuary is truly home to everyBODY.
