Rare Breed Fitness Introduce
For those in New York City, particularly on Staten Island, who are serious about their fitness goals, Rare Breed Fitness is a standout option that defies the typical commercial gym model. This is not a place for casual workouts or distractions; it's a dedicated training ground built for people who are committed to a focused, no-nonsense approach to strength and fitness. Identifying as a women-owned business, Rare Breed Fitness has cultivated a unique culture that prioritizes respect, discipline, and a shared passion for lifting. The gym’s ethos is evident from the moment you walk in, with a clean and organized space that signals its commitment to providing a high-quality environment for its members.
The core of Rare Breed Fitness is its community. As one member shared, everyone is "friendly," "respects it and each other," and it's clear that they "all want to be there." This culture of mutual respect is a major draw for serious lifters who appreciate a space where weights are always re-racked, and equipment is well-cared for. This kind of courtesy, which might seem minor, is a direct reflection of the values instilled by the owners, Theresa and Mike. Their welcoming demeanor and genuine care for their members create an atmosphere where clients feel like they are part of a family, not just a transaction. The fact that the owners "immediately introduced" themselves to new visitors and offered free passes with "no pressure to join" speaks volumes about their confidence in their business and their commitment to client satisfaction.
Rare Breed Fitness is a place where every square foot is designed with a purpose. As one visitor noted, "there's no wasted space on useless machines," and the gym is equipped with "all of the best equipment" for weight training. The focus is on providing high-quality tools for building muscle and strength, including a favorite like the pendulum squat machine. The dedication to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is also a significant point of pride, with a member noting that they "won't find any grime or dust on the equipment here." This attention to detail ensures that members can focus on their workout in a safe and pleasant setting, which is a key differentiator from many other gyms.
While the monthly price might be a bit higher than some competitors, members feel it is "well worth the investment." The value comes not just from the equipment but from the overall experience: a welcoming, clean, and serious environment with a community of like-minded individuals. This focus on quality over quantity and substance over flash makes Rare Breed Fitness a top choice for anyone in New York who is truly "serious about lifting."
Rare Breed Fitness is conveniently located at 75 Putnam St, Staten Island, NY 10312, USA. The studio’s location places it within a residential area of Staten Island, which gives it a more private and focused feel compared to a large, commercial plaza. Its position in a quieter neighborhood can make for a more relaxed and less intimidating experience, which is a major draw for those who find busy, public gyms overwhelming. The address is straightforward, making it easy to find for residents of Staten Island.
Accessibility is a key feature of the facility. Rare Breed Fitness has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, which demonstrates its commitment to being an inclusive space for all members of the community, regardless of mobility. This is a crucial feature that ensures everyone has the opportunity to pursue their fitness goals. The on-site restroom provides a basic but essential amenity for all clients, ensuring comfort and convenience during their visit. The overall accessibility and thoughtful location contribute to a seamless experience for members. The ease of getting to and from the gym, combined with a welcoming and focused atmosphere inside, makes Rare Breed Fitness a practical and appealing choice for local New Yorkers who value convenience and a no-hassle workout environment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After settling for a less than ideal gym for a the last few years, my family and I were thrilled to do our first walk through at rare breed. We were given free passes to work out with no pressure to join. When we did try the gym for a workout, we found the gym was exceptionally clean. All machines had pins and clips (our previous gym always had missing) everyone exercising worked in on equipment respectfully and all weights were racked by members after using equipment. These all seem minor I guess, but that’s a culture and courtesy you really don’t see everywhere. Theresa answered all my questions and Mike immediately introduced himself to us. It was a welcoming place that we will absolutely be joining.
August 01 · Lauren TI just came by for a $20 day pass to try this place out. If you're looking for a gym that's dedicated to weight training, this is the one. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that this is a place where people are serious about their fitness goals. The gym is on the smaller side, but don't let that fool you. There's no wasted space on useless machines, and all of the best equipment is available. One of the standout features of this gym is how clean it is. You won't find any grime or dust on the equipment here. It's clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. But the real star of the show here is the equipment. This gym has everything you need to lift heavy and build muscle. And because it's a true lifting gym, you won't find any distractions or interruptions while you're working out. No TVs here, just good music. My favorite machine they have is the pendulum squat.Another thing that sets this gym apart is the people. I came in the morning and everyone was friendly and, and it's clear that they all want to be there. Everyone respects it and each other. Everyone reracks their weights in the right spots and takes care of the equipment. It's clear that this is a gym where people take their fitness seriously. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey at $60 per month. But if the gym stays in this great condition and we continue to have access to all of this amazing equipment and maybe more in the future, it's well worth the investment. If you're serious about lifting this is the gym for you. I plan to switch here in the near future.

May 07 · Daniela CorradoBest gym in Staten Island! Great atmosphere, clean, nice equipment , friendly stuff, ALL coaches are great! But coach Justin is just the BEST!!!
June 19 · Y PFantastic training facility. The owners are amazing and know what they are doing. They combine a ton of functional and athletic training. The environment is top-notch, the facility is always clean and everyone is there to help each other reach their respective goals. Located in the Wendy's shopping plaza. They're preparing to have a second floor with more training equipment and lockers.
